I've heard a lot of guys use this sort of bell-like tone and have always wondered how they get that. I've been told by a few others on here that it's jazz-like settings that can work. It's OK, but it's always sounded just a little too thick, though not much, and I've always been afraid of screwing with my settings too much and losing it altogether.

thats not true...there are tons of popular musicians who have no vocals and theyre signed. joe satriani, steve vai, bela fleck & the flecktones, john petrucci, liquid tension experiment, opeth (they have a lot of instrumental songs), paul gilbert (new stuff), shawn lane, yngwie malmsteen, steve howe (the band Yes), etc.

theyre all pretty damn popular. are they real wealthy? no, but they choose to not sell out. music is about making a living if its your career, but you need to make MUSIC.

I like it a lot but you're missing something. I can't put my finger on it but I think it's maybe because the notes aren't lasting long enough. You might have to tweek your DSP. Then you'll sound just like the pros. Not saying you're not a pro. Just saying your DSP doesn't. If that makes any sense. Maybe listen to Marty Friedman's CD? The one with music that sounds similiar to this.

Thank you again. It is a real old guitar. It still has the original pick-ups. The pick-ups are so old and have been sweat on for so many years they have actually rusted up. I don't really know how the sound gets through. But I too do love the way it sounds.
