Assuming, she's a wonderful young woman with many qualities as a person. Would you rather she married
a) your lesbian daughter or
b) your heterosexual son.
Assume that your child cares for Ms. Keyes very much, and that the respect and full intent of lifelong fidelity is mutual. Which of the two scenarios do you feel would be the best choice, and please do make a choice. Copping out is not an option!
Fair that our REPRESENTATIVE government, whom we choose ourselves, would be in charge of ensuring access to health care (not the care itself of course - because nobody ever suggested that - we still could choose our doctors under every plan put forward) instead of a profit-driven corporation who could care less if you live or die as long as it keeps costs down? Yeah, actually that sounds very fair.
honestly i do not care if the president is black (well actualy brown) or yellow or white or red or blue,as long as he would have the spin to say it how it is and also provides possible solutions like this Alan Keyes does,so for those that actualy use their brain (i consider myself as one of those) Alan makes sence and i can see that it actualy might work, iam impressed i'll would vote for him
@Hoschi0913 Keyes spoke in flowery generalities that have no bearing on the reality of the situation. How is having an insurance corporation choose what care you can and can't have empowering consumers? Plus most people do not have the luxury of being able to afford to choose their health care provider, and Keyes offered no way in which to improve that situation. If you get sick and your insurance company won't pay, what are you supposed to do? His "plan" works for the rich but that's it.
well if you really go into detail ,you will find that no company offers the whole package for almost nothing or fair price and it doesnt matter if it is insurance or carseller or tv or houses so on ,simple fact is ppl those days arent selfresponsible no more, they rather depent on "someone" to fix up their shit
Alan keyes IS the African-American president I was lookin' for. Many people are asked,"Aren't you happy that we finally have a African American President!" my response is lukewarm(I'm black by the way). If Obama was a man who stood with God's principles I would be happy, but I not so far. I am praying for this president though, but I rooted for Alan during the race.
There is a big difference between being a smooth -talking pseudo-intellectual and being a truly gifted man of passion. America is not ready for a Black man who doesn't know his place. Which is why Alan Keyes will never be President. The marionette in chief can't shine Keyes' intellectual shoes.
@commonsensrules The black community rejected this pompous twit for good reason. Just because he knows how to orate like a preacher does not mean his "ideas" are any good. He offered no solutions in his little diatribe; he simply used it to try to instill fear of government in people. This guy may be a genius manipulator, but he is in no way a great leader. Oh, and "those in control" are the voters, and they have had multiple opportunities to make this man President. Wisely we chose not to.
You want to stay healthy for the sake of the share holder too! Right on Alan Keyes! The people should be free to pay more & more premiums & out-of-pocket expenses to our private system so that the shareholders can smile once again. To give the people a "choice" of a government option is to put them in shackles, &, in the process, gyps the shareholders & removes the incentives of multi-million-dollar annual bonuses for insurance company CEOs.Profits are freedom! - not health care for just anyone.
Keyes paid himself $100,000 per year out of campaign funds.His1992 Senate campaign was hurt badly when the press revealed he was paying himself a huge amount out of campaign funds. This is technically legal but rare and sleazy. We don't know of any other candidates for president who have ever paid themselves out of campaign funds from any campaign they've been in.
Keyes' prescription would work if not for one minor problem: people, in general, are stupid, lazy, and unmotivated. The sad reality is that health care is, and will remain, expensive for the simple reason that people eat too much, don't exercise, and generally don't treat their bodies in a way that promotes long-term health.
@ClumsyRoot well that means that people are ruining the economy so that ruin themselves will ruin themselves because the economy shouldnt be sacrificed for them. economy meaning low income tax so people can spend more.
people here in america pay thousands, and go into bankruptcy when a major illness or accident happens to them, and after you get out of the hospital you are hounded by collections for what money you do have.If you are uninsured you must wait for an illness to get bad enough to go to the emergency room to recieve any care.
@commonsensrules Lucky then that nobody ever proposed a "government takeover" of health care. What they actually proposed was universal access to it. Oh, and you forgot one rather large group of people in your question: those that are already broken financially and therefore do not have the luxury of a choice at all. For them the quality of health care in this country is already terrible. But that's probably nobody you know, so who cares, right?
we have Medicare in Australia. if you're sick you just go to any general hospital, and when you leave you sign a form and that's it. I can't imagine having to worry about money when you're sick. I don't know about the US system, but I've heard a stay in hospital for an appendix opperation, etc, can cost hundreds of dollars!
i never had to wait long, btw, only a couple of times in years (once for an rx and once for a blood work)and i just went to a private clinic (the bill was refunded by the state).you don't wait for family doctors cause they have a limit on the number of customers to guarantee that you can be visited quickly-if they want more customers they hire more doctors. they don't work for the state, their fees are fixed by the market and varies from city to city, the state just pays for customers who can't.
he's making stuff up. i lived in italy, germany and france. doctors are not "slaves" and bureaucracy doesn't decide who treats you. the state just pays the bill. doctors can be transferred when they want, you can go to any hospital in the country to be treated, if you don't have money for a physician, the state pays, if you don't like him you can change by just going to another one. state doctors do have private practices, and can also work in private clinics
also in those areas of the world you are on a "waiting list" for health care. and the state only decides to pay the bill if they believe it is for your survival. my mother is a nurse and i have a decent idea of how healthcare should work. would you want to struggle to obtain funding for the knee you hurt on the job? think of all the injuries that arent life threatening. but you have to live with for the rest of your life. this system does not pay for these. what is quality of life to you?
i mentioned those cuntries because i lived in each of them, i have friends working there as doctors, i had surgery in france and had to go often to the ER in germany (and i live in italy).
1) the survival thing is simply FALSE, did u ever go in any of those countries? i never paid for any surgery (and i had 3), nor my father or anyone i know. NEVER. (btw, i had my tonsils removed and laser for my left eye- both non-life threatening, both free. waiting list, about a week for both

"Let's empower consumers by giving them the choice." Sure, cause we aren't too busy to work out all the details of setting up a health care program that won't be expensive and will always be accessible. I've got a better idea, let's pay the government to do it for us! Then, we don't have to worry about it, and since everyone's in on it, we don't have to worry about it failing. And since it's the govt, we don't have to worry about being cheated by some corporation.
As a federal employee, my salary is pretty much controlled by Congress. I can always quit for a private sector job, but someone in the health care industry wouldn't have that option if the government takes over health care.
That doesn't mean that government control should be bad. If health care shouldn't be socialised in the States, then why shouldn't policing, fire fighting, sanitation services, street construction, and military defence all be private? In fact, maybe citizens should put the American government on the New York Stock Exchange. No, that wouldn't be a good idea. Government is meant to protect its citizens with these services and health care is one of them.
Alan Keyes understands the concept of Liberty. The left talks of being "pro-choice"..well if you then give government Control of your HEALTH care. Who has control of your body? who makes decisions in reguards to your health and its care? hmmm.
It's actually the LIBERALS who understand the concept of LIBERTY, hence their name. You make decisions in regards to your health care. The government only provides you with the health care. In fact, insurance companies deny people health care simply because they would lose profit. Under a government run system, you make the choices. I agree.
Keys is an obvious geniuse!
The black community is missing the boat here!
Keys is the real deal, and i could see this man rebuilding the foundation that our republic was founded on.
The only problem is- those who are in control will never allow Keys in any position that could give him the power to do so much less the presidency!
Obama is nothing more than a puppet with a teleprompter!
Sad really.

i agree with your statement....
but, that is not to say that governmentizing healthcare will make it any better!
lets say that your statement is correct, which i know it is!
suppose the government takes over healthcare and decides who should get treatment and for what?
what then?
are you better of under a system that breaks you finaicially, or a system that doesn't provide quality healthcare that might kill you?
to assume the quality will remain the same is a deadley mistake!
