    Max

  • Nice

  • how does the bios recognise the new drive inserted? i had seage 160, which is not giving a response now. The bios test failed repeatedly.

  • Thanks, you have been to great help:)

  • Thank you :)

  • am i the only one that has a problem with this guys voice tone changing thing that he does...thanks for the help though, take some cough syrup or something

  • @MegaForrestfire

Would you prefer he sounded like a robot?

  • is there a service that will do this at ur local best buy or walmart?

  • were i can buy the hard drive

  • i want to upgrade mine but its an hp mini 311 and i was wondering if i could buy any harddrive or is it smaller is it 2.5" please help thanks

  • Great video! Really takes the worry and confusion out of taking apart a tiny netbook. For anyone wondering, I put in a 500G sata drive, get one like this so it fits and everything: Seagate Momentus 5400.6 ST9500325AS 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive

  • ...Great! So this is just a regular ATA hard drive? If I wanted to, could I put in a regular old "non-solid state" hard drive?

  • was going to pay someone $75 to do this, I did it for free myselft thanks to your video , thank you

  • Thank you, very thank.

  • whats the largest hard drive i could put in there???

  • Very good job thanks for the install tips!!! Keep up the good work !!!!'

  • Great video, but this method will only work if your mini-note shipped with a hard drive, the SSD model doesn't have that HDD bracket, it's completely different and a normal hard drive won't fit inside, just a SSD board.

As a side note, the original 4GB SSD board has only 2 of 16 memory slots populated with 16 Gigabit SAMSUNG chips. One could easily find cheap NAND flash memory from some 2GB USB thumb drives and populate all the slots giving a 32Gigabyte SSD!!

  • lol voice at 3:11 / 5:51

  • is this the same as the compaq mini 700?

  • What is not emphasised here is that the SATA connector is very easily broken when you "unplug" it as shown here at around 3.07 minutes. The plug is surface mounted on the brown flexy strip, and the act of unplugging it can easily partly tear it of the flexy strip, and you 2133 no longer works !

And even worse H.P. does not sell this SATA connector separately, it comes only with a new HDD. Treat it very carefully.

  • I absolutely agree, danMdan. I was very gentle when removing and re-inserting the connector. Nonetheless, it lasted only two rounds and I'm now stuck with a dead 2133.

  • The connectors have been seen for sale on ebay - it is worth a look.

    Dan

  • Yeah, but right now, not many are on sale -- unless bought with the hard drive. I did manage to snag one and convince the seller to ship overseas for an OK price. Next time they go for cheap, I'll stock up.

Regardless, this is what I'll do from now on: leave the cable connector inserted, but unscrew and flip out the hard drive, detach the SATA data+power block, mount the new drive in the bracket, then re-insert the block. This way, the cable remains unmolested.

  • I have an HP Mini 1000, I bought an upgrade for the hard drive but I'm afraid that replacing it will mess up my computer or something. I know I need to format the new drive but I don't know how to do that.

  • Is this the 2.5" hard drive?

  • Is this the same with the hp mini n270

  • this is what pissed me off with these new shitty machines as soon as u get it. it needs a bigger drive etc its all rubbish i will wait a few more years before i fuck around with this shit

  • Where i can find the orange brow ribbon hard drive cable? My it's broken!!

  • I was just wondering what's the best aftermarket graphics card i could possibly put into this unit.

Could you tell me like the 2 or three best ones? And the prices. Just the best ones money can buy.

Thank you your vidoes are awesome.

  • awesome info... would have been scared shitless to attempt this without getting this tutorial first

  • quick question though i just ordered a 1.2 ghz 2g ram xp model whats the video playback like on this unit seeing mixed reports of great and juddery thanks

  • oh forgot to ask where can i get a hp 2133 6 cell battery from and how much do they cost thanks

  • As far as I know, they aren't selling them, yet. I spoke with a VERY knowledgable young lady in Small Business sales, and she said "soon," as in the end of June or in July.

I want to get a 6-Cell myself, probably a spare power supply so I can leave one at home.

  • Greetings and thanks for the video series.

I was wondering if there is a maximum HDD capacity for the SATA bus on the 2133? I'm thinking about upgrading it past the 120GB that it ships with to something more robust.

    Thanks for your advice.

  • how do you upgrade the hp mini with the 4 GBS of flash memory. I want more space

  • No, only 2GB of ram and there's only one slot

  • Can you put 4gb ram in the hp mini note?
