-@nudgler and Rogerjazzfan.- Technically your wrong. Return to Forvevers album Where Have I Known You Before had a song written by Stanley called Vulcan Worlds. Vulcan Princess is a variation on the same music theme with basically the same hook
@jangofettish1. S'allright. There just ain't enough mainstream bands covering great stuff like vulcan prinscess. I think funky fusion viewed as something rooted in the period (a touch before my time even), but this is still cool to me. It will probably come back.
I can't believe that I had forgotten about this song. I had it on the album when it first came out and like the previous comments, I used to play it to the max. Bass guitar has never felt so good! My hearing may have suffered a bit because of this and poor equipment back then but it's a sacrifice I had to make!!! Thanks for uploading this song!
The best part is the beginning of the groove, then the ballad Vulcan Princess part. This was some of my first fusion. This album is so different from anything else I've ever heard. He's obviously seriously in touch with some spiritual shit in my opinion.
O MY GOD O MY GODDDDDDDDD !!!! WHAT CAN YOU SAY ??? WHAT ELSE??? ALL OF THEM ARE AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!!! COME ON ENGLAND IS ANY ONE HERE I CAN GET DRUNK WITH ON THIS SONG ???? LET ME KNOW ALL TH DRINKS ARE ON ME!!!!!!!
I just picked this lp up randomly at a record store. Wow was I in for a surprise. I am 30 and have never heard of this guy. What an amazing bass player. I will buy more. Great song!
To this day my sister hates this cut. Her room was next to mine when we were young and she accuses me of "Blasting" it up to 20 times in a row on some nights. I must admit I probably wore down the vinyl on this cut. Now years and years later I'm playing it again on Youtube for the 5th time and I'm just getting warmed up....lol. This cut introduced me to the Jazz/Fusion type music. I had never heard a Bass guitar played like this before and it was "Mind Blowing"
Like the 'fro, I think this music is cool again (if it was ever really uncool with people that understood anything about anything that was worth a dam).
I had forgotten what a master Tony Williams was on those drums! Not to mention the rest of the performers on this gig! What a great album!

@BassFever74 Do you actually play Bass...???
freein2339 3 months ago in playlist j,s jazz 2
@freein2339 I give it a go once in a while. I like it better now, after a couple listens. But I'm still a bit turned off by the tenor bass.
I'm more into Stanley's skills as a songwriter.

Stanley was only about 18 or 19 when he did this masterpiece.

@jangofettish1 I probably ruined School Days for a lot of people by playing it over and over for the last 30 odd years.
