  • ahh, the good stuff. Great story.

  • awww!

  • This is so nice!!!!!

And when they said her last name I thought they said "Bieber".

    I screamed.

  • 17 poeple have NO HEART

  • awwwwwwwww happy ending...

  • what a gorgeous face on Rachet... hes so happy to be with Sgt Beberg again...

  • some happiness out of all of this misery.

  • Aww another lucky dog who was saved from the hell over there! {:)

  • this is such a nice change from the video of a soldier throwing a puppy off a cliff

its good to see such freaks are a minority

  • awww god bless u!

  • such a cute story but i feel bad for the dog only because he went from one extreme (sand and heat) to another (cold and snow). not that its going ot be that way all year round but w/e he'll adjust. so cute!

  • I'm crying!

  • Never underestimate the determination and tenacity of people who truly know the meaning of the word love!

  • Why couldn't President Obama just sign and executive order making it much easier for our soldiers to bring back these dogs they have adopted?

  • @63gstone Lots of reasons, lack of veterinary records and exotic diseases being two of the main ones. You think it's hard adopting a dog from overseas? Try adopting a baby, whether you're military or civilian. Foreign adoption of any kind is difficult. But thanks to groups like the one mentioned in the video, it's now possible to adopt pets as well.

  • @63gstone it sounds very easy to do this, but allowing service members to adopt animals opens up a floodgate for animals to give humans diseases, infestations, and even worse physically hurt them on accident. Think if 1 out of 20 people tried to adopt some kind of homeless or wild animal over here. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to be able to do that. I love that this little dog was cared for, and am so glad it worked out in their situation. It just doesn't work all the time...

  • So glad they both made it & can live happy together.. :)

  • Okay...time to get out the box of kleenex...sniff..

  • This shows that not people are cold hearted about animals..like the morons that run puppy mills...I have the most respect for her..to top it off she got a Border Collie and i have two both rescue dogs. Bless her and the people that make this country for what it is...

  • is a dog to much to ask in return for risking her neck in afghanistan?

  • wow, it seems like the brass is always trying complicate things

  • cool story - i got one of those from Vietnam...

  • WHO ON EARTH WOULD "DISLIKE" THIS? There obviously are 12 people out there who have no sense of compassion at all

  • This story has really touched my heart as a dog lover and owner of a long haired mini dash hound named harry. i got the chance to raise him from birth. he was 3 times smaller then his brothers and sister. i was told he would not survive past 6 weeks becasue of how small he ws well now its been 3 years since i got him and he is as playfull as ever cant wait to get back home to my baby boy

  • No doubt that dog is mans best friend. I have a pitbull mix that wouldn't hurt a fly. Sweetest dog in the world. I'd like to say thanks to this girl for her service to our country and this story is touching and I'm glad you got to bring the dog back home with you.

  • where exactly do the types of people who tried to prevent this reunion come from? What would they POSSIBLY have to gain from hurting this woman? They're purpose in life seems to be spreading sorrow.

  • @sevenonpaper1 Its a logistics and quarantine thing- you can't just easily transfer an animal from one country to another- they have to spend months in quarantine first.

Australia is next to impossible to bring animals into, for example- because we don't have rabies here. imagine how drastic it would be if rabies was introduced in our ecosystem because of an unquarantined animal?

It was a shame it was hard on her, but you can't blame the system. They did their job.

  • @sevenonpaper1 Really it doesn't work like that. Not everyone in the military is heartless, I promise (I love animals). We still have to look after the best interest of each service member by not exposing them to things that may hurt them. Not all puppies are disease free and polite. I would love for ever stray animal to be adopted, but we simply don't have the resources to be able to make that happen over here. If one person is allowed, then all have to be allowed. See what I mean?

  • Burning trash!? The poor baby!! She's a HERO. She's in the army, she recued an animal, how much more could you get????

  • that's such a cute border collie :D

  • Touching!!!!

  • ooooo sooooo cute i love that puppy and their story 2 =)

  • what does the dogs tag read? i rescued something this is such a cute & touching story :)

  • Huzzah and Huzzah to the ASPCA.....this is what makes this country great....not money or power - It is LOVE, pure and simple.

  • This is really a terrific story.

  • i cried when i saw the puppy as a baby IT WAS SO CUTE

  • Definitly touching. I'm happy that she got to keep the dog.

  • I cried some manly tears watching this.

  • So cute!!!

  • I don't understand why the military always wants to block these types of things. I am glad they were reunited. Although I realize Ratchet is a rescue, sadly, trained military dogs in the past have been abandoned when the soliders go home. No way to treat a member of the military.

  • @klmoll Exactly. He was like an honorary member of the military. He should have had no problem coming "home". Plus, this woman risked her LIFE. At least let her have her fucking dog!!

  • Minnesota Troops are AWESOME! HOOAH!

  • Touching story. Iwould just like to say that I have a missing dog named Ava thats been missing since may20th 2008.She is a small black and white chihuahua/terrier mixed breed.Avas ad can be viewed at dogdetective. Please help reunite us with her.We Need Closure. We Love And Miss Her So Much!!!!!!!!!!! piss off!!!

  • @MoDEGeNoCiiDe Did you ever find Ava?

  • Dogs are so loving and loyal.

  • It's nice to see a heart warming story where animals and humans can live together in harmony.

  • whats amazing is that the dog has got is SO lucky considering what his life would have been yet, as a dog he (obviously) doesnt even know how lucky he is.

Kinda reminds me of how humans are even more naive (for a lack of a better word) for how much God loves us.

  • @thestrugglewithin - its not true, i've seen personally rescue dogs / dogs who have been beaten or abused and they know they've been given a second chance and i have seen in some dogs, not all, nicer personalities than in most people I know.

  • What a marvelous story! Blessings to Ratchet and her Minnesota family!

  • it's nice to see a good news story once in a while with the constant bombardment of negativity in the media it can be hard to stay positive .... nice story and I'm so happy for the both of them.

  • Thank you!

  • scarfs look best on those kinds of dogs

  • Fantastic video!!

  • Awesome Story! I love seeing happy people with their loveable pets :].

  • My dad and his Team had the Iraq Dog watching out for them he let them know when Bomb and People had come around when the got Attacked the dog put its life on the line and is now dead my dad and his old Friends have Pictures of the Beautiful dog my dad wanted to take him/her home here but when that day came when he wanted to talk and ask how it would happen the dog Died protecting them....I NEARLY CRIED IM GLADE THIS GIRL GOT HER BEST FRIEND HERE SAFE AND SOUND.

  • as a dog lover and someone who respects and appreciates those who serve our country, this story does my heart good. thank you for your service maam

  • What a cutie!!!!

  • that so swettch and cute dog

  • that dog is so cute!

  • That made me feel so happy!

  • NICE name ratchat and clank lawl

  • =) touching

  • You go girl! This chick toughed it out in Iraq, and all she wanted was a dog in return. It shouldn't take an act of Congress (almost) to let a soldier who did their tour be rewarded. Medals are good, but a good dog and friend, gives back love in a way we non-military people can't fathom. I'm so happy for her. God bless all our military.

  • It's not about denying the soldier her dog. It's because the dog could carry diseases back with it. It costs a lot of money to quarantine and immunize those dogs, that's why the military refused her request. She's lucky everyone got involoved, because that's probably the only way she'd get enough support to get her dog all the shots it needed to make it here.

  • Dog Bless You for rescuing Ratched & seeing how important he was/is to you! Enjoy your lives together...I just wish more people would rescue- anywhere & anytime. For homeless animals, it is always a war zone- & they're usually killed!

  • Ohhhh,how wonderful :O)

  • WONDERFUL! Thanks all around!!!!
