  • If Simon destroyed only the head of Dracula, doesn't that mean he wouldn't be able to come back?

Hell, just break his legs when you gather them, why put them all back together?

  • dont get why they would bury dracula...? or why Simon would visit his grave.

  • @chistophersaylor Because Dracula cursed simon with a death curse. He had to ressurect Dracula so he could kill him and life the curse. The whole point was so that when dracula had ressurected there would be no more belmonts to oppose him. He had his servants scatter his remains all throughout transylvania.

  • This game was so far ahead of it's time!

  • I think they should remake Castlevania 2 for the 3DS and make it into the game it was born to be.

  • 24:37 OMG IT'S THE DEAD END PART!!!

  • This game isnt as bad as AVGN thinks it is. This is the only game that I had to disagree upon.

  • i wonder how fast a no glitch speed run would be?

  • @Belthazar1113 That's part of the problem. Without the RNG manipulation of TASes, you're relying on luck to build up currency in-game.

  • Amazing soundtrack, and vastly underrated game. CV2, despite its failings, is still a lot of fun.

  • Seems difficult to have a speed run in a game that requires grinding for hearts.

  • The music in this game is awsome, but the game sucks ass.

  • I can't imagine that it would ever be a good night to have a curse...

  • I wish they had a merchant that would teach Simon swimming lessons so his ass wouldnt drown so much when I played.

  • I think I'd have never known about this game without James Rolf's curse. The curse of the horrible night !

  • the whip sound is so cool

  • 2 people got a horrible night because they had a curse

  • 2 people were dracula and didn't know that simon was backula

  • An amazing run!!

I don't care if it is TAS or not; this game play is awesome :)

  • come on, if they added a smooth fade between day and night it wouldn't be way better to play? i mean, 50% of the mess about this game is that lame transition message...

  • @LeoPedrozo

And the Tornado. My dad owned this game so I got a kick out of it when I got passed the part and he had yet to. I beat my own father to winning Simon's Quest. His face was priceless when the tornado took me away.

  • @RoCSaran at the time this game was released, gamers were a little dependant on "nintendo power" magazine. without that piece of paper, it was nearly impossible beat some nintendo games at that time.

i can imagine his face when you crouched for about 5 seconds near to a wall and got magically transported by a tornado coming from nothing :,,,D

  • @LeoPedrozo

He was indeed mad, bro. I think personally they made the game that way so kids would buy more Nintendo Power to figure it out. Classic Jewish Practice for a gaming tycoon that at the time had the Video Game market frozen in a monopoly, much like Microsoft in the 90s.

  • @RoCSaran yep, that what i meant to say. nintendo had the game market in its hands. it was like "we can do anything, they don't have a choice". sega didn't resist the competition for too long, but we have to be grateful they released genesis, that at the time put an end to nintendo's monopoly.

but i guess konami learnt a lot from this game. it was one of their worst experiments, and they never repeated the mistake. their next game to keep rpg-style is also their BEST game so far (sotn).

  • WHAT A HORRIBLE WAY TO WASTE $40

  • The tool-assistance has vanquished the horrible luck!

  • Action packed final battle WTF

  • wtf @ 12:50

  • I BEG OF YOU TO TAKE THESE LAURELS.

    ROFL?

  • That's no Dracula, it's Death, hmm...

  • WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE CAPS LOCK

  • Killed Dracula in just over 2 days 18 hours in game time

  • Yeah nice glitch hack at 6:42 ! That's probably the only way to make it in a very short time ! Wonder who taught of doing that..

  • OMG HAX @ 6:42!!

  • Final dungeon == Castle Bran ruins?

  • Is there a way to go back to where the tornado picked you up?

  • @za909 Hohó, hogy te is CV-zel :D Amúgy nemtom. XD

  • @oktny Ja,és Super CV 4 kurva jó! :D

  • @za909 Nálam főleg a Dracula X és a SotN a menők :D

  • how were you able to pull a heart from every kill in the beginning? it always took me 2 nights to make enough for holy water and the white crystal

  • @mtmarolla It's a tas.

  • @123TauruZ321 oic. i thought tool assisted only meant you can save whenever so incase you die or dont do something fast enough you can reload quick. i wasnt aware there are hacks or cheats involved.

  • @mtmarolla Oh no, i think it's more that it is a computer playing or something.... so that every corner is turned with pixel-precision ;) But i do believe they can cheat too..

  • @mtmarolla They aren't involved. They abuse the hell out of save states to, as you can see here, manipulate the random number generator to get hearts every time like that.

  • AVGN's Video ;)

  • @ the beginning... i never thought of doing that :)

  • still remember the time when i kept on killing monsters in the town just for the dawn and the time when i wandering in front of the lake and don't know what to do next

  • This game held so much promise, I wish there would be a remake.

  • I'd forgotten just how little needed to be happening on the screen to slow the game down. That has to be really frustrating for making a speed run.

  • 6:43 - HAX!

  • Awesome.

  • I love how lazy the programmers are with Dracula. You can hit him the moment the game frees up your controls after sacrificing his body parts even though you can't actually see him.

  • You now prossess an awesoem TAS.

  • WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A CURSE.

  • @baconlabs

    lol

WHAT A ROMANTIC NIGHT TO HAVE A SEX

  • @baconlabs THE MORNING SUN HAS VANQUISHED THE HORRIBLE NIGHT.

  • Nice I love these speed throughs

  • 15:46 lol

  • dark fulgore rulez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a good example of a game with very interesting 8-bit music.

  • angry video game nerd hate this game :D

  • that's smart never thought of combining whip and holy water before. Doesn't help on the later levels though, enemies are too tough.

  • *is typing a comment* what a horrible night to have a curse *thinks wtf and continues the typing*

  • Bloody Tears is my favorite of all Castlevania songs!

  • 13:23 uhh...wtf is going on there?

  • The sad part about this, is, the amount of game-breaking glitches is far less than a lot of other games... proving that Castlevania 2 is better programmed, than... say... Super Mario 64?

  • you cant compare the two, one was a dime a dozen 2D platforming game, the other a revolutionary next step in gaming. if you're going to compare it to a mario game, do it to one of equal release and system specs. like super mario 3.

if you could go back in time with a copy of mario 64 in '88, programers would shit themselves in disbelief.

    argument is moot.

  • Well said

  • What a horrible night to have a curse...man i love that song!

  • even on a TAS, the player has to grind a lot... this game was so boring and frustating.

  • So many awesome songs.

    Really fun game too

  • Oh..My..God.. Bloody Tears! I love the song AOTP made of this!

the soundtrack is probably better than the game itself lol

  • @fosk8 yeah, CERTAINLY the soundtrack is better than the game itself. :D

  • good god. A TAS of THIS piece of crap? It'

s probably the only way to beat it and stay sane.

  • Hey come on this is where Bloody Tears was born!!!
