  • does the leaf not have regen breaking whenever the accelerator is not pressed? i would think if there is no draw for power and the car is moving the car should recharge the batteries.

  • Wow, a car that runs on brake pads. I bet them pads gotta be cheaper than gasoline, NOT!!!!!

  • now put a 6.2 V8 in this piece of shit and you might have a cool car here.

  • You talka shit

  • That is if you remember to put the thing on charge overnight.

Forget to do that and your Leaf will not be going nowhere.

A car like the Leaf whose economy is so erratic due to weather conditions and road terrain is utterly pointless.

If you have to make a journey of 85miles you will have to charge the Leaf up twice.

Also it costs nearly £28,000, 9000 more than the magnificent VW Golf TDi Bluemotion.

Far too expensive with an utterly pointless range of 80 max

  • Sounds like a great way to void your warrenty big time!

  • NISSAN has never recovered since they changed their name from DATSUN...here in the States. I'd rather buy a crap-box, kimchi-smelling Kia.

  • I bet there is spit all over this guys dashboard when talking on a cell phone..

  • The reason why you don't two a car is not to damage the transmission...I think the Leaf is okay in this regard and it may have been a situation of copy+paste to build the manual.

  • Then the fucking hungry and thirsty tundra V8 saves the electric leaf.

  • Who has money to buy a Leaf, also has to solar panel.

Leaf is 99% recyclable, Batteries will be bought by Nissan after 10 years.

Next year will have autonomy of 300 km.

Good energy is energy produced at home.

  • In short: he can't get back to home because the battery has gone flat so get a car fueled by pertrol because it has a bigger range and more easy to fill up. Its possible that the "fuck the world truck" is more environmental friendly then that leaf. The leaf might be electric, but what makes our electricity? well for 75% that's wood, oil and cole. Brilliant! Electric cars are still no good. Oh and that truck now uses more fuel to get that electric car moving...

  • @EliteGhost001 An electrical power plant is always more efficient than an IC engine in a "passenger" car.

  • @pcfxer

realy depends but yes, a massive power plant is more efficient then the average car engine. But the point of your comment is....?

  • @EliteGhost001 The leaf is electric and as a SYSTEM it outperforms IC engines regarding pollution.

  • @pcfxer

And then you won't get home.. or maybe in 2 years and some guy who was smart enough to stick with petrol has to bring you home. Works :)

No the efficiency of the power plant doesnt matter because a massive % of electric power goes to waste by transport. And since most electricity is produced far away, the powr plant would still have to generate much more power then you'll actualy get out of your socket.

  • Anyone else wonder why the audio translation is better than english to english?

  • wait, so you brake lightly as you're going along?

  • @Crevlthe Exactly, it works like a charm!

  • Nice! let's use a big gas guzzling truck to recharge our electric car! oh wow...

  • Wow 3km from a 4km town! That makes 25% efficiency? Might as well just drive the truck around without that annoying Leaf on you back. It would save more fuel.

  • @Nomoreidsleft actually it makes 75% efficiency. 3/4=0.75.

  • @Nomoreidsleft failmath and fail thinking

  • @redbeast2 I was just approximating. To be more precise, both the leaf and truck run for 4 km, which means, the truck has doubled its energy consumption. Which means a total of 8 km worth of energy was spent. Since the leaf is about half the weight of the truck the 3km you get out of the charge is actually equivalent to 1.5km. So, 1.5km/8km = 0.1875 = 18.75% efficient. Bottom line is don't use a truck to charge what is suppose to be a energy efficient vehicle.

  • Ha ha! I got a Toyota ad for a Nissan Leaf video. They really got their money's worth there.

  • We EV1 drivers came up with this idea way back in the 90s! But it was also hard to avoid frictional braking. My own idea was to drive up a hill, load up the trunk with water in tanks and coast back down, charging the battery. Empty the tanks and repeat. But when I did the calcs I found I would have to exceed the EV1's modest cargo capacity of about 500 pounds (including my own weight) so I never tried it. But it would literally be hydroelectric charging.

  • Somehow driving a truck is "f***ing the world" regular gas is natural, but by using gas called natural gas, is somehow deadly. you are really smart!! also I have a "f*** the world truck" and im damn proud

  • um so its still using gasoline to charge it right? lol so not so green after all.

  • "a typical fuck the world vehicle" - why don't you tow that Leaf with another Leaf then? hypocrite...

  • @roadofthegypsy no hypocrisy here. the purpose of the video was to investigate how well it charges the car . Not to claim it is an eco alternative.

  • 2;39 i think my fone is calling !

  • Who cares about the Leaf? Where can I buy a 400HP Tundra that runs on natural gas? I'd love to be able to fill up my truck at my house. I'd park it next to a Volt so I won't have to tow anything...

  • Natual Gas isn't any better due to the way its extracted, Bio-diesel anyone?

  • kind of defeats the purpose if you have to use a "fuck the world truck" to charge the car.

  • Comment removed

  • Then I guess European "Gigaliners" or double-trailer trucks must be a "Fuck the Universe". Subjects of the crown (oh yeah, the dutch are governed by a monarchy) have weird humor.

  • @order9066 I've never seen one of those in real life here. They're legal in some European countries, but they're an extremely rare sight. The Aussies do use road trains like that regularly.

Besides, you're comparing a 400 hp pick-up hauling a lardass to a truck transporting tons of goods.

  • @rdcL Bloomberg Businessweek, "Toyota and Nissan: Trailing in Large Pickup Trucks"; "Toyota's full-size Tundra, which starts at $23,455, attracts a different type of buyer, data from Nielsen Claritas show. Toyota truck owners are 38 percent more likely to fly on business than typical drivers, and they lean toward hobbies like backpacking and mountain biking." To bad an underpowered VW Polo couldn't pull it. Now THAT would be funny. I drive a Toyota Sienna, a big "Fuck the Netherlands" vehicle.

  • will it not regen in neutral instead of having someone press the brakes? I know the Gwiz (Reva) does.

  • @colinsauze nope, in the Nissan Leaf you are required to brake to regen energy. It does have a handy display on the dash that gives and indication of the regen so you can make sure the 'normal' brakes don't activate.

  • you know what? I will stay with my typical fuck the world truck over this car any day!

  • So your saying the best way to chage a electric car is to tow it with a gas powered truck??? LOL, BTW I did not know they sold full size trucks out side of North America.

  • What, what in the butt?

  • regenerative braking and a 400hp truck to pull it on braking mode

  • Ultimate snow la 3:03 WHAT

  • lekkere reclame voor die auto?

  • I've always loved the Dutch.

  • @benwillvv We love you too!

  • Wat een nutteloze auto is die nissan leaf toch

  • Waarom zit er niet een reserve accutje in dan kan je iig naar een oplaadpunt rijden

  • nice you only had to use 10 gallons of gas in the truck to get 73 kms of charge....7 kms to the gallon isnt bad right? lol

  • A tip from a mechanic: constant braking (the way he was braking as he was towed) wears and heats your brake pads and warps your rotors. Be careful, not careless.

  • @norcalgorilla If you hit the sweet spot in a Nissan Leaf you actually never engage the brake pads; it goes into engine braking which generates power as seen. BUT finding that sweet spot is pretty hard to do...the brakes were smelling kind of bad during the making of this video....so you might have a point.

Don't try this at home kids!

  • @Leafplan Well, I don't live in a Nissan Leaf being pulled by an example of the ''fuck the world truck''. Nissan can pick up any Leaf if it runs out of charge on the road. Like that's going to happen.

This should be done if such a scenario was to happen.

  • @norcalgorilla You are a mediocre mechanic. Rotors don't warp. Sorry.

  • what language is this?

  • @JackZeroZ This is a combination of Dutch and piglatin ;-)

  • @Leafplan Wrong! Its PINGU language.

  • "A typical fuck the world truck!" LOL :)

  • NICE DONE ;)

  • Wat een sukkel....

  • Heeft die gozer alle jezus veel geld? Dan weer een Segway, nu weer ene Leaf... :P Waar houdt het op! 3:40 misschien?!
