They are morphs of a normal reticulated python by man, and we breed them in captivity so we don't catch them in the wild, in which they would be chopped up and killed by the natives. Captivity is actually the best way to preserve species which could become endangered quick. The average uneducated animal activist cries over captive animals which would die in the wild even if they were born in the wild, before they even reach adult age.
