  • The shivers that run up and down my back when all four sing at 3.25 are the most welcome I've ever had. I adore this song with just one Valjean, but four makes me cry :'-)

  • Please tell me that it is not true that BORAT is going to be Monsieur Thénardier??

  • @fvidvandre Sasha Baron Cohen is actually an /amazing/ actor and singer - go and watch Sweeney Todd if you don't believe me, he played Pirelli in the film, and he was brilliant.

  • @DeaMaxwell Auf, I hope he is good. I just heard, and I keep seeing Borat as Monsieur Thenardier :P Not at good picture ;)

  • Fantastic!

  • They're all so very amazing. I won't rank them.

  • In what order are they? I think Bowman is the second to start singing but...

  • @sneakyrat7 Colm starts, John Owen-Jones is the one next to him who is second, third is Simon Bowman and last is Alfie

  • that is very, very special.

  • Oh wow.

  • I've had a crush on Colm since the 1995 Dream Cast which I saw when I was 5 years old. Not much as changed, he is still the perfect man.

With his extremely emotive eyebrows and on of the greatest voices I have ever heard, I love him more today than I ever have.

  • Number

1: Colm Wilkinson, 2: John Owen Jones, 3: Alfie Boe, 4:Simon Bowman

  • Colm is the best with the emotion and really amazing singer but I would give alfie the best vocals

  • Bliss!

  • The movie they are making is gonna be shite nothing beats seeing this live ...wow just wow

  • I think they are all fantastic... I just prefer the way Alfie sings and I think the way Colm moves his mouth is so weird! (though I know this isn't his fault and his voice is very good)

  • awesome! super like :)

  • If I had all the time in the world, I'd just sit at the computer and press 'like'. All day, every day.

  • One timeless musical crescendo.

Four voices, any one of which could pierce

    the Heart.

anywhere on this Earth, or the Heavens above.

and there are still those who

    don't Believe?

    Not possible.

    Not possible.

    -M.

  • i definitely burst into tears as soon as alfie opened his mouth.

  • Just found out Colm Wilkinson is the Bishop of Digne in the movie. Best casting decision ever

  • I know I'm the only one here who likes Simon Bowman best. He was my first Valjean so I just can't help...

  • Alfie Boe is sent from HeaveN!!!!

  • Hey why hasn't Alfie sung yet, I've been waiti - OH WOW

  • @EllieTurnip lol!

  • We all have our own preferences for Valjean. The others have their own quality and timbre, but for me, Alfie's sound is strong, clear and true. Mr. Boe makes me weep.

  • a great video of the four jean valjean's. alfie boe is totally awesome in the role

  • 3:02---- So beautiful...Alfie is my favorite Valjean

  • John Owen Jones: The BEST Valjean!

  • John Owen-Jones... what a talent!!

  • Colm Wilkinson is great..

His voice is beautiful..touch my heart.

  • Alfie Bowie have the best voice, really... but Colm Wilkinson have all this passion when he sings... Amazing

  • Alfie blows this out the water, Colm's voice is not as strong now which is understandable, but a great performance.

  • 3 people were named after this show.

  • :''''''D TEARS OF HAPPINESS

  • I would have given my left tit to be there!

  • @bels10 I would have given both!

  • @shbear3 yeah me too and my third toe...on each foot...After that I might just watch the dvd instead lol

  • Sooooo beautiful, I rank them:

    1. Colm Wilkinson

    2. Alfie Boe

    3. Simon Bowman

    4. John Owen Jones

  • They're all amazing, but Colm Wilkinson, oh my goodness, reduces me to tears everytime. Beautiful.

  • I rank the four Valjeans in the following order

    1: Colm Wilkinson, obviously

    2: John Owen Jones

    3: Alfie Boe

    4: Simon Bowman

  • damn it, when alfie started singing... goosebumps man. goosebumps...

  • What a beautiful song!!! Colm Wilkinson was great!!!

  • 3 people want him to stay out

  • Javert disliked this 3 times

  • I'm crying at Boe... I'm 14!

  • @thebeatlesyay I'm 14 as well. I'm glad there are people my age who enjoy music like this.

  • Bought the DVD. Keeping it safe for my grandkids. One of my most treasured possessions!

  • Three people should be sent home.

  • Three people couldn't see through their tears of joy when they tried to click the like button.

  • alfie boe's explosive entry gets me every time! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Colm is still my favorite, call it nostalgia but i love his voice match to it. These guys are awesome together

  • Alfie Boe. No contest

  • absolutely FANTASTIC!!! after all these years, I still believe this musical is the best.

  • no body can make me cry with this song but colm wilkinson! to me HE is and was VALJEAN!!

  • This is just supreme awesomeness overload. So much talent on this stage. When people diss musical theatre direct them to performances such as this.

  • Watching this, all I can do is cry.

  • Just cried again x

  • the loveliest harmony EVER!!!

  • Valjean overload. Teared up the second Colm approached the mike. I don't have a favorite. I love them all for their own separate fantastically awesome talent.

  • holy alfie boe batman

  • They are all amazing.

simon's face when alfie sings is so funny though.

  • I'm actually crying that was so beautiful.

  • My fav is actually John Owen jones, his voice just moves me, the rest are fantastic of course

  • Alfie is fab, but this will always be Colm's song, and he still brought a lump to my throat here all these years later

  • The look on the face of John Owen Jones when Colm Wilkinson starts singing is amazing. It is like he is thinking I am listening to the master of this song and it's fucking great.

  • @leedscab123 totally agree!

  • let me tell you all a little something. if you have never seen the show live then dont knock the actors. Colm shall always be the first Valjean. This song is staged in the sewers of Paris and he has just saved Marcus. He is asking God to take him and let Marcus live so that Marcus can marry Cosette.

Each actor brings his own talent to the part and each dose it justice.

  • @blondbear2

Had you seen the show yourself you'd be more than aware that Jean Valjean doesn't save "Marcus" he leaves Marcus and instead decides to save the life of "Marius" who is the character that Victor Hugo writes of in his epic novel. Having read the book and seen the show three times myself "Marcus" remains very much a mystery to me and I'm sure that Cosette would have been equally as confused when Marcus stood beside her at the alter in place of "Marius"

  • @NicholasNickleby68 Marius is who I was referring sorry that I typed Marcus. So I typed "C" instead of "I" by mistake. THANKS FOR MAKING ME FEEL STUPID!

  • @blondbear2 My pleasure,

  • @blondbear2 The line is "IF I die, let me die, let him live..".Valjean isn't trading his life for Marius', he's asking God to ignore him -- but to please save the boy (yes, for Cosette's sake and bc Marius loves her). JVJ believes he'll die no matter what: either Javert takes him back to the galleys, he dies w/ the students, or the army executes him as a rebel. He's in mortal danger. So, what does he pray for? Someone else's life.

    Love this musical.

  • @hecate235 yes DAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just for everyone discrediting the actors, or any actors...The actors were chosen for a reason. They were THE BEST for that role. They were chosen for a reason. Stop saying that you don't like the actor. You can have your opinion, but don't put down the other actors.

  • all I can say is...........WOW

  • those people who clicked thumbs down are clearly deaf!!! there is no way i can actually describe how beautiful this performance was!!!

  • No words can express how amazing this was...

  • I thought i'd just gone to heaven.

  • Colm Wilkinson will always be my Valjean!!:) but went to see Alfie Boe, and wow he is amazing!!:DD xxx

  • Colm Wilkinson, John Owen-Jones and Simon Bowman delivered an outstanding performance, but were totally blowed away when Alfie Boe joined in.... He's simply the best. No voice can be compared to his!!! <3

  • @RV11KH30 Alfie Boe's section was amazing easily my favourite part but i think the song is sung the best by Colm, the emotion he holds in his voice is spectacular. Watched a little documentary on Alfie and he used to be a regular bloke before some local operatic society member heard him sing in a TVR garage and suggested he went for auditions. Nice to see someone with genuine talent succeed. :)

  • @moorekwl92 Colm is absolutely amazing, and shows a lot of emotion... But so do Alfie, it just doesn't show much on his face, but if you listen, he have a lot of emotion in the song... the way he sings. You don't allways have to see it...

  • Alfie Boe - "okay, guys, I got this."

  • Agree. Alfie Boe has incredible voice. Amazing. That being said I stil dol love Colm the most. His performance of Jean Valjeans at 10th anniversary concert is the most soulful I have ever heard. He makes me cry every single time. I think the reason for it might be even the fact, that when he sang at that concert he was a bit older than all the singers here are. I believe that singers performance mature with age and experience.

  • Brilliant.

  • There's a reason the three other men (which by the way deliveres a outstanding performance) walk away from their microphones when Colm deliveres that final note. Colm Wilkinson is Valjean.

  • love that one guy who shouts in excitement when the harp starts playing! :D the arrangement is AWESOME too!

so much talent in five minutes!

  • My god, that key change was wholly unexpected, but so brilliant.

  • STUPENDOUS!!!!!!

  • John Owen-Jones has the most beautiful voice

  • it's bring my tear out..

  • colm wilkinson

  • Whats Ricky Jervais doing there?

  • Eargasmic.

  • @fr3iyaThat is so right!

  • Colm Wilkinson's voice is the kind of voice that lives forever...no one can ever replace him as Valjean....the way he sings, its breath taking....

  • I'm young and should've known. Who is after Colm? He's just as good??

  • @XavierCrow I mean the person is just as good. I'm saddend overall. Maybe I'm just too Colm heavy

  • @XavierCrow that's john owen jones

  • @lesmis234 You're a hero, thanks!

  • This should have been Christmas Number 1 last year or in the top 10 at least. So Beautiful :')

  • Beautiful!

  • c'est astounding

  • John Owen-Jones and Simon Bowman played the Phantom in the Phantom of the opera on the royal variety show :)

  • After Alfie's entry, at 3:13 you see Michael Ball in the background wanting to cry, bless him...

  • Colm puts more feeling into it

  • Colm Wilkinson is a god amongst men!

  • @2HonestIam Not quite sure how you can accuse any of them of sounding false - their voices are their voices.

  • I'm very sorry, guys, I can see you all really love that Colm, but, well, I didn't know any one of them before watching this (I'm not English, too bad :D) and it's Alfie Boe who I find totally STUNNING, I just can't BELIEVE how unspeakably brilliant he is Oo

all of them are good, of course, but oh GOD, Alfie Boe!

also, this performance almost makes me like this, sorry again, boring-as-hell song, sorry one more time :D

  • no one can top Colm in my mind :)

the others are really gd, dont get me wrong, but cant beat Colm, he is and will always be Jean Valjean in my mind

  • Borrowing something from a Carlsberg ad this is probabbly the best quartet ever. I think I would rank them as follows

    1 Colm Wilkinson

    2 John Owen Jones

    3 Alfie Boe

    4 Simon Bowman

This is just my opninion though.

  • unbelievably beautiful. they're all amazing. no one can top colm wilkinson though. (i want ramin karimloo to play valjean!)

  • @wf141 he is playing Valjean at present at the Queen's Theatre in London.

  • @leedscab123 no way!! I wish I were in London, goddamnit

  • @wf141 um he is. Until March 3, 2012. His pic in twitter is in his changing room with a brand new beard.

  • colm wilkinson is always the best

  • incredible ... pick one , just one! who's your favourite?? .... 4 voices , each different in tone, emotion and delivery , i just can't choose!! incredible :)

  • I liked that part when Jean Valjean sang.

  • @Shikkakku lol they were all jean valjean at one point so which part do u mean??? LOL!!

  • Don't know why but I get very emotional listening to this. I feel such a sissy.

  • I've seen Les Miserables a thousand times by now and it still makes me cry! Breath taking. I have no words to express my love for Les Mis.

  • Heavenly key change by alfie boe!!!!

  • pretty sweet, i with i could be jean valjean!

  • A great moment in the history of musicals.

  • Magnificent

  • magnificent!

  • Javert saw this, and thats why there is only 1 dislike! Amazing, I love how John Owen Jones looks admiringly at Colm when he starts singing - sooo sweet :)

  • @gmarina789 sorry buddy, but i beat you to the Javert joke

  • Bieber disliked the video, oh dear..

  • Comment removed

  • Cried. Yes, I just cried.

    Dammit, Marius better live.

  • this might be the highest rated video on youtube

  • This s the best thing I've ever heard.

  • I like alfies bit

  • The preformance these men put on was just jaw dropping and mind blowing greatness. leaving the audience speechless and smiling when Alfie came in on his que. Colm was beyond great even for his age. Simon has such a distinct voice that brings a sense of stuggle to the song. And John Owens Jones has that emotion when he sings.

  • I got goosebumps.... ._.

  • I went this live I was on the front row the last song made me cry

  • God let Marius live because he heard Alfie singing so beautifully.

  • Simon just had to smile

  • I think there's one Valjean missed - Janusz Kruciński from polish cast! ;)). Anyway, I love this song, and this is really great performance. The best from the best ;)

  • amazing!!

  • 3:00 WOW:O

  • javert has watched this video and disliked it -_-

  • Awesome quartet!

  • words are just not enough......................

  • 3 words

  • es wow sin palabras...se que llega tarde el comenario...pero WOW

  • Man....they are just so absolutely naturally gifted... @MsCardiothoracic1320 ....ear-gasm indeed :|

  • That one dislike is just a hater...

  • Wow! How could anyone dislike this? This is some of the best singing in the world!

  • Brilliant Colm, must be the Irish Tenor in him. The greatest. See also Pfizerpfonics sing Loch Lomond!

  • Chills.

  • Eargasm.

  • Colm and John faves! Fab. John live is 'A'mazing! ;) This doesn't do them justice.

  • 1 dislike? whoever you are, screw you. there is no way in hell this is unlikeable, everything about it is absolutely gorgeous.

  • @ChildOfHeavensFence Only one person would dislike this: JAVERT!

  • @barra193 Not even Javert could dislike this. Someone clearly sneezed while trying to click like and accidentally clicked dislike.

  • @barra193 Great, now Ternardeir has gone and disliked this too! Who's next I wonder?!

  • @barra193 I think Thenardier must have disliked it as well.

  • i need a sponge for my undies

  • Alfie blows the rest out of the water. He is entirely in a different class! Nonetheless, bravo to all!!!

  • John Owen Jones looked so mesmerized by Colm when he first started singing...

  • I can not listen to this without being moved to tears! Having cleared my tear ducts I shall now get on with work - Fantastic, beautiful, memorable...

  • Awesome, love them all but Colm is my all time favorite!

  • I love the way John looks at Colm in the beginning. Pure admiration.

  • Wow

  • That key change is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever heard

  • Alfie is just an amazement to lsten to

  • INCREDIBLE.

  • everytime i watch this i cry like a baby, it's so goddamn BEAUTIFUL
