  • Why double leg and get pulled into guard as opposed to fireman carrying him onto his neck and getting side control?

  • It's probably been said already (too lazy to read all the comments) but this is unnecessarily complicated. Why not just do the takedown when you grab the leg and control the arm (I think it's called the fireman carry). Instead you let go of him completely giving him the chance to either sprawl or try a guillotine (by jumping into the guard). Also if he is fast he might just get away completely or maybe even hit you?!

  • at 0:13, cant you use your rib cage for an arm bar?

  • @timucuassss because the opponent is on his feet, he has enough mobility to shift his position and relieve the pressure of an armbar attempt

  • This the most beautiful double leg set up Ive ever seen

  • PRess 3 to see him wiping off his dandrif

  • More like a high-crotch to a double leg. :P

  • SPRAWL

  • I like what he did before he grabbed both legs. If I was doing it I would pull his leg out from under him and twist at the same time flipping him over me and still being in the dominant position.

  • ... Lol set yourself up straight for a Guillotine. Anybody who is experienced will catch you in seconds...

  • @Danhawk1223 but it to easy to get out of a guillotine unless he falls back into a guard...

  • @flugin2008 And it's easy to do so if he's driving forward!

  • @Danhawk1223 WELL WHAT THE FUCK YA WAITING FOR BUD???? MAKE A VIDEO GOSH DARNEETTTT

  • @AliTobi no point in saying darnet if youve already said fuck...

  • guess what it is his favoriet takedown what a suprise

  • best way to counter is guillotine the bald guy, fall into guard, and then perform the kimura if hes a big guy, or arm bar if hes tall

  • @M4ch1neGunKelly If you get him in a guillotine from a double leg most likely you wont need to fall into guard

  • i do jufc junior ufc ,

a kid try to do ecxactly what he did but when he grabbed my wrist and right wen he grabbed my leg i guiettined him so watch out for the guiiteen

  • @iJericoMesina yeah there are more take downs then this but yeah watch out for it

  • @iJericoMesina just curious... what's junior ufc? never heard of it. Is it just a junior mma program or something?

  • @masterblastertkd More than likely doesn't exist. If he was in the "JUFC" he would atleast be able to spell guillotine.

  • ya this guy knows what hes talking about thats a good move but if u do this move watch out for the guy reversing it and turning it into a headlock so do it quick

  • oh yea you made me ? your 12 and im 15 ahah your funny cunt all you should be doin is playin with your lego blocks you cunt

  • This guy is GOOD!

  • im 14, there is a fight coming up on monday. With me and this kid Jeremiah. He uses a street fighting style. Ive been in judo training for about 2 months. He has been fighting everyone. And winning. I want to show him, that i am not weak like he thinks i am. I am going to use this double leg take down to get him into a great choke hold. I might arm bar him. any ideas? or vids i could watch for a great technique? send me msg's please.

  • @brad88922122 Bullying is bad. Eliminate the hate

  • @brad88922122 Why do you need to prove anything to him? The strength of a man is in his character, if he thinks he's stronger then others and chooses to use that inapropriatlly then he is week.

  • Real men don't use weapons - weapons are for pussies.

  • my version goes like this:

once i lock in the arm, instead of going for a double leg, i keep the arm locked in and grab the leg on the same side.

i do judo, but this move has recently become illegal, so its a real shame

  • @tapouts99

your statement 'technique beats strength' was proven when frank mir fought brock lesnar in the UFC. brock was much bigger and stronger than frank, but frank got him in a knee bar (i think) and submited him.

then they had a rematch and brock just beat frank to death

  • @alexthelyons hehehe...

RAGE of a 280lbs pound man beats technique and everything else i guess..

  • ur a fat retard only fucking idiots grabs someone during a fight who is gonna just grab u in a fight

  • Your technique is good, I just don't think you're the kind of people who should be teaching. Just like my old wrestling teacher.. He's great, just can't explain. Changed clubs because of him.

  • that first movement is pretty unecessary wiping the wrist to the outside is much more efficient and can be executed faster

  • the other guy looks like phelps

  • Isnt this just a high C to a double?

  • gonna use this at my match tomorrow

  • 0:50 look at there faces LOL

  • I've used this move in competition for years. Only I used it as a throw and finished it like a firemans. All these people hating need to to stfu.

  • ggoonna be the next move on the motherfucker that touches my head !

  • well first of all u dumbasses these moves dnt work cuz youll arent fast enough so its not that the move duznt work youll just dnt got it down fast enough

  • You can use karate against karate. Karate against street fight is different.

  • I tryed it and it really works .thanks!

  • What if he sprawls??? I'd imagine this type of double leg would be very prone to a sprawl.

  • @Sammmy100 if the person that is performing the take down has good posture and is fast enough it would be really difficult to sprawl.

  • Thats a hi-crotch to double but your hi-crotch wasnt very strong

  • What I'm concerned about it's

If my opponent is going to swing wildly.

  • @TomSpartan218 lol true cause of brazilain ju jistsu is strickly ground

  • @skaterdogz BJJ is not strictly ground at all, it has many stand up maneuvers, it simply is not as effective as concentrated wrestling. But at least know what you are talking about before talking.

  • What location is this in?

  • @timothyco12 you need to just talk a little less. no one here gives a fuck about your opinion of what is a choke or a headlock. These are common day names for very old techniques. They are for each to perfect, no concrete standards are ever part of an art form. and Timothy, if I am CHOKING the shit out of you with my five finger guillotine your HEAD is LOCKED in my death grip of a HEADLOCK thats CHOKING the shit out of you! then you can add that to your youtube resume

  • while doing this can i take him down with a fireman carry? just wondering

  • the other guy could have gotten him into a headlock on many of those "takedowns". You need to keep your shoulders and arms way up, and put your head more in the middle. I dont know, ive done mma for a while and this video just seems wrong. The other guys also not just gonna stand there when you sling his arm over you, trust me.

  • your mat is fuckings mall bro

  • Nice technique! As for countering with a guillotine, that can be nullified by a few things (good posture, head up, etc). Best counter IMO is a left shovel-punch to the jaw and/or face. Bring your left elbow back as far as you can and let go, a la Rampage ;)

  • easier to just go into fireman's carry i mean its perfectly set up

  • Why switch to the double leg? I would just stick with the single leg and really push since i've got the leverage.

Any specific reason for going for double leg?

  • its not the guillotine you have to watch out for, unless you have no wrestling background whats so ever, its the knee. pause at 25 is the best window for a fight ending shot. how ever if the miss their window it looks like something id actually play with. however he shows the firemans carry position, take that out and just go straight into the double unless your doing the firemans... only thing is in mma you could get crusified

  • ok dumbass, so you invinted the double leg?

  • I'mma give this a shot in training tomorrow, I'll be sure to let you know how it came out.

  • ehhhh. i think its better to drive him to the side on a double........

  • dont worry. i dont take credit for this move. i all ready did this to 3 of my enemies. and i said, "i didnt come up with this move, i learned this from some fat bald guy on youtube.

  • this is a nice takedown technique. and a guillotine is really hard to sub someone with. even if you do sink one in its difficult.

  • this is good me likey

  • not being funny ur good for ppl who want to do it but to be fair 9 out of 10 ur not gonna be able to do that

  • @daarrkstarr haha, hey its good to use fancy technique on a horrible wrestling!

  • @NSEALs101 lool i would agree

  • You should squeeze the knees tightly together to avoid their guard, because you're fucked if someone sinks a tight guillotine while in their guard. Also, you can easily get into either half guard or side control by doing this. Personally, I'd rather use a simple Judo throw and stand above them and start throwing bombs if I wanna put some hurt on someone. Sweet vid though

  • Nice set up, plus if you know that the guillotine is there you can actually get an easier takedown. Just as long as you know what to do in that specific situation, you can be nearly unstoppable with a takedown such as this, its drillin drillin and drillin that will get it to be effective though lol, good set up.

  • That is awesome.

  • now some of you still dont believe that what im saying is true but i have wrestled for 12 years i have trained bjj for 3 years and i have trained mma for 2 years so dont be getting pissed just because a 16 year old knows more than you about this shit because the truth is that you can have a library of different moves and instructional books or videos you will not get far in the mma or grappling world if you do not have an open mindset of how to execute those moves

  • @timothyco12 So wait, you pretty much gave us your entire resume, and grappling history background just to say that chokes can be considered headlocks, and a standard, good ol' fashion headlock can be used as a choke? *clapclapclap*

  • yes the common headlock is when two ppls bodies are parallel but you can perform a headlock from many different positions just like a lot of other moves out there and for the people who believe that the common headlock can not be a choke you are also wrong. now it is possible but difficult if you dont know wat your doing. there are to main arteries or both sides of the neck. by rotating your shoulder forward and sliding your arm deeper to the other side of the opponents body you can do the choke

  • attention all fuck heads who think they know what the hell they're talking about, you are the very dumb asses who come up with the most common everyday misconceptions about grappling. headlocks are a wide variety of different moves. included in that group are the common headlock the rear naked choke the guillotine and yes even the triangle choke. if you look at the mechanics of all of those moves you will see that they all create a LOCK around the HEAD which is where we get the term headlock

  • @timothyco12 no way.

  • wanna learn a good nay great nay perfect take down ? amoung with many different submissions and reversals and strikes and everything than subscribe me and i will message you further details DYLAN&GRANTBJJ i am a brown belt with sum skill :) this is ligit thanks

  • Alot of you guys are saying this shit don't work. well your full of shit. maybe not street fights like alot of you are thinking about. But this stuff can be very useful in the octagon and everyone should stop talking shit because it's likely most of you are 12 years old and have never actually bin in a fight. So everyone should stop trying to tell these guys what a real fight is. because you don't know wtf your talking about

  • @buzzer917 I could see how it would work in the clinch, but he pretty much sets himself up for a knee to the face if he doesn't totally catch his opponent off guard. Plus, you're turning your back on an opponent that has a free hand. It could definitely work, but this definitely isn't "the best" double-leg technique. Slipping a punch with a double-leg probably has the higher success rate and lower risk factor by a large margin.

  • @travesham good observation mate. yet you miss the part where the oponents right hand is locked, and by pulling it, once it is locked he is also dropped out of his balance. I honestly do not see how he could hit a strong knee or a punch with the free hand if done correctly and fast as it should. Yet i agree, that it probably is not the best doubleleg takedown possible.

  • @buzzer917 before i say anything farther are you saying a street fight isn't a real fight yet a fight in the octagon is?

  • @buzzer917 being in the octagon is competition. Being in street fight might be life or death situation. I've never tried this move in street fight but if ppl r saying it doesn't work then it probably means that it takes to long to do the move when the guy can just punch u. Techniques that are short and quick will work best.

  • @buzzer917 hell yea i hate it when people say this stuff wont work, well it has a much better chance of working on a street fighter even if its a sloppy takedown...technique beats strength

  • @buzzer917 i am 12 years old i have been in about 100 fights and i think this is useful so shut up

  • @untone123 well arent u a little thug

  • @untone123 shut up you little cunt ill smash ur teeth out you gug

  • @untone123 true that

  • @MrDroolingMonkey exactly

  • @untone123 after that id probs have sex with your mum just for fun

  • @MrDroolingMonkey youll be dead faggot u fuking cocksucker and by the way i had rabies and ur mom had aids and when i fucked her it created u

  • @MrDroolingMonkey i wouldnt even bother fighting you id just stab you :)

  • well i think this would work for freestyle wrestling. just sayin cuz everyones hatin on this video

  • in a real fight you dont touch the ground you use the arm as levrage to get to the leg as quickly as possible, instead of going to the knee its a quick step in. but in wrestling this is highly affective and ive seen it many times

  • yeah all of this guys videos fuckin suck . please try this trow and throw ur self into a head lock and get submitted. all of his other videos are close to impractical. lol

  • @WarriorInternationa1 How the fuck do you get submitted by a headlock? All a headlock does is immobilize you and they are super easy to get out of.

  • @Tippet76 haha i think he meens a guillotine probs

  • @Tippet76 listen fuck face . maybe the pussy who puts you into head locks is a fag and doesn;t do the shit right . dont yell at me over the internet when you know damn well that head locks can be a submission . and plus . these are 90% for submission competitions . sorry. but thats the truth. ghey ghey ghey ghey ghey

  • @WarriorInternationa1 No a headlock can't be a submission. A guillotine can be a submission. If you got submitted by a headlock then you must have an extremely sensitive neck. Maybe you should go to an x-ray physician and check for fractures.

  • @Tippet76 a guillotine is a headlock with ur legs wrapped around him . but thanks for trying.

  • @WarriorInternationa1 Lol u ass thats the triangle choke a guillotine is with the inside part of the elbow! lol lol lol

  • @WarriorInternationa1 A headlock is when the two peoples bodies are facing the same direction and isn't a choke. Guillotines don't always have legs wrapped around the person. Standing guillotines are pretty common. Nice try though.

  • @Tippet76 oh so then what is a neck crank from full mount?? both bodies face each other . nice

  • @WarriorInternationa1 look up headlock escape and see if neck crank comes up. See if anything that you have said so far is right.

  • @Tippet76 lets see if anything you say right is so far right..

  • he didn't take him down. he just stumbled.

  • @JohnReilly898

    Well duh? -_-

  • Is it just me or is his position and posture really horrible for this takedown? >.>

  • this isnt a double... its a high crotch

  • Wait... Why would you waste that split second to grab one leg when you can go straight for both? Is there a reason behind it? Other than that it seems to be pretty cool! Im def. going to try it out..

  • good takedown for some bigger than you or is getting the best of a fight.

  • 2 much motion. will work in youth league wrestling match.

  • This has an easy transition to a fireman's carry. Just drop his face into the ground if you're feeling like a dick.

  • @JacksEpicFail i always am ;)

  • I like it!

  • this is a good technique to practice, cuz if you're clinched up with someone, it'd work if you did it fast enough. and "getting guillotined" as everyone keeps saying, will only happen if the person doesn't finish with the right double-leg takedown technique. but the dude's not gonna break down the whole video to teach How to do a double leg, this video is just a setup if you want another option to get there. jeez guys. buncha haters who don't know what they're talkin about

  • grabbing the wrist seems rather optimistic, and from having that one leg id pick up for a single slam. u wer close enough to squat the dude in the air

wishfull thinking to get this in a fight

  • why dont he just do a fireman toss

  • this is stupid, why would they put a hand on your shoulder, and why not just ram there body and pull both of there legs up, they wont be able to reverse it

  • its a clinch example - and u cud get caught in gillotine or they cud even sprawl - i got gillotined off a 7ft3 guy - dont use this on monsters!!!!

  • @chharther you put your hand there to snap the neck down. If you just "ram their body" you will get guillotined.

  • @chharthr, the hand would be behind the neck. Going for a clinch position. This is a good move.

  • ive seen this grip taking by russians for kata-guruma (firemans carry) very strong.. I never tried it in nogi.. will try now.

  • how would you go about doing a double leg takedown without getting caught in a guillotine ?

I know head placement is key but sometimes I forget wether to keep my up or down .. but anyway my point is Gracie shows an excellent technique to counter a guillotine just type in Gracie guillotine defense

  • you keep ur head up believe it or not, make sure ur heads not down or u will get guillotined, think of how a guillotine works, their heads down

  • Guillotines are for pussies

  • It looks like you're feeding the guy a guillotine...

  • perfect invitation for the guillotine

  • I like doing that but going for a firemans carry or whatever it is called where you train.

  • just throwing this out there, the lower you grab on thier leg, the easier it is to take them down.

  • no, you want to grab right behind the knee... for reasons too complicated to type here. Basically... grab too high and they can slip out. Grab too low and they can use their weight and fall on top of you. Grab behind their knees and you are in perfect position.

  • if you grab behind thier knees they can sprawl and that'll push your hands higher up their legs making your take down ineffective. im not saying to grab thier heels or ankles, more like the top of the calf a few inches from where the knee bends, cause if anything you can scoop your hands up then pull from behind the knees

  • If they sprawl on you then it doesn't matter where your hands are placed.. you didn't attempt an effective takedown.

I'm telling you, hand placement is behind the knee.

If you really want to know for sure, type in "Barry Davis double leg takedowns, part 1". He's a two-time Olympian, and knows his stuff. If you want to know how to do a proper double leg takedown, watch his video.

  • Excellent technique with the hand, but he already has a takedown, maybe even better than the double leg, when he grabs his front leg and is still holding the hand. I forgot what the takedown is called but its highly effective, and it will land you in a better position than the double leg if you execute it. Dare I say its stupid to try to go from that position to a double leg, once you have firm hold of his hand and one leg you have a take down already.

  • You thinking of the one that your in sort of a fireman carry on one knee and then roll him over to the side?

  • actually yea, I learned that in wrestling, its highly effective trust me, you just pull on the arm, and lift where you grabbed his leg and its very easy and should land you in something like a north-south position.

  • Yeah i learnt that in jiu jitsu but it was a wrestling technique we were just doing moves along those lines and he showed it incase we fight someone with a significant weight advantage

  • Oh, and while I'm thinking about it..

I watch MMA events all the time and see fighters go for the double leg takedown.. except when they do, they seem to leave their neck open also, yet the guy getting taken down never puts on a guillotine. Why not?

  • Alright guys, I have a question. Me and my brother wrestle/grapple sometimes and we're both noobs. We know certain moves but don't always have the best technique to pull them off easily. Anyway, I can easily take him down most of the time, except when I go for the double leg, I leave my neck open for him to latch on for a choke. I always manage to get out of it after a minute or so, but I'd rather not be in that position in the first place. How do I avoid the guillotine?

  • Watch Chael Sonnen's fight against Marquardt, or Sean Sherk vs. Hermes Franca.

Both of them went for the single/double leg takedown and both got caught in the guillotine. Neither of them tapped though.

Point being that when you go for this takedown the risk is going to be there for the other guy to go for the guillotine.

You just have to take him down and fight off the guillotine choke if need be like Chael and Sherk did.

  • hah his funny lol

  • Wow I like this alot, I like the swinging under...

  • Every takedown that you do a guillotine possibility is there. Theres been countless times where ive went for the double leg in sparring and gotten caught with the guillotine but a very easy way to get out of the guillotine isnt what your instincts first tell you and go for their hands or by your neck. Grab his bicep or shoulder region and try pushing your way out just enough to get some breathing room or off if possible and if all else fails slamm that bitch.

  • when u go for a takedown try sticking your head in his chest.

  • so many comments on guillotine this guillotine that... fact is a double leg as a quick and powerful move... if you ARE fast enough to latch onto the guillotine (few) and you ARE strong enough to HOLD ONTO IT through the takedown (fewer) and the guy on top is DUMB enough after the takedown to not execute one of many defenses or escapes of the guillotine, especially when it almost certainly wont be sunk in correctly (fewest).... then yes a guillotine is there.

  • its about your the position of your head when you go for a takedown, thats one of the main differences between MMA wrestling and real wrestling. If guy like Cro Cop can finish off an amazing wrestler like Kevin Randleman like that, trust me, it works. Not to mention Jason Guida almost submitting a very good wrestler Bobby Lashley like that. Its one of those things wrestlers need to learn when they compete in MMA.

  • I know its positioning of the head... but i don care who you are or how you shoot its not perfect 100% of the time, especially if the other guy is decent and repositions youre head. YOu are right, and i aggree, i was just saying no matter WHAT there is a chance of a guillotine... but if ur not an MMA/grappling retard... it wont happen lol. Even the best tire and make the mistake as weve seen in countless fights... just gotta stop it lol

  • Of course its not perfect, but then again, I don't see a lot of guys even trying it lately. In the end its all about following the trends in the sport, you see one guy submitting a lot of wrestlers with the guillotine, trust me everyone is gonna be doing it (or at least trying to). God knows if the Gracies thought MMA was below comtempt and didn't compete in it, we probably wouldn't have BJJ in MMA. People would probably think its a "spiritual" martial art with no practical application in combat

  • Nice video!!! I see alot of people saying its open for a guillotine,, the the thing is though,, its not that easy to sink a guillotine as everyone thinks,., especially when he's going full speed on the double leg and driving you full force in the mat! And yes,, i do have wrestling and jujitsu experience,, i am not some online grappling groupie like alot of others!

  • @m1shadow i see what your getting at with the guillotine but in mma her blow are completely legal and this leaves you wide for just that

  • @m1shadow yeah. honestly most people that say "open for a guillotine" are either REALLY experienced. or dont have ANY experience. going slow its easy to say that. but going fast and under ALOT of stress.. its not happening unless you have magior experience

  • @m1shadow The nice thing is if they GET the arm under the chin, you're dumping them straight into side mount, where they'll either let go of the guillotine - since they don't control your body - or they'll hold it, and set themselves up for a Von Flue choke.

  • @RickMerchantttt exactly! Dont get me wrong, the guillotine is an awesome move and is effective, but it's not always the simple answer to a double leg as some people may think. These guy's on here saying they would just sink in a guillotine if someone double leg's them are obviously amateurs with very little experience.. or they are "keyboard grappler's" lol

  • @m1shadow Well, the saddest thing is that I pretty much AM an amateur grappler, with not that much experience. lol. I just placed second in the Men's Novice Middleweight division at NAGA this past weekend. I'm not that skilled, but I can still figure something as simple as that out. The be-all, end-all for the double-leg isn't always going to be a guillotine.

  • @RickMerchantttt Congrats on 2nd place in Naga! thats awesome! Yea,, i saw so many people writing how all they would do is guillotine the guy and the double leg would fail,, it made me laugh, anyway, being a grappler, i see you understand it's not that easy!

  • @m1shadow Granted, the EASIEST counter to a double will be a guillotine. But that doesn't mean it's always going to be there. The key to avoiding being put in a guillotine is to keep your head at, or just below your partner's hips, and to tuck your head in, and against their back. It's simple to avoid. But people seem to get caught in it by getting wreckless. I actually have a video of my buddy pulling one on a guy who shoots his legs, and gets careless.

  • @m1shadow not easy but possible if you dont keep your head down

  • lol i would say about every double leg is an expose to a guillotine if your head is on outside. his double leg was just a normal double leg only difference was what he was doing before the double leg which was the setup and he was holding on to the hand that would put him in the guillotine and it would be a lot faster in reall match. randy couture did double legs and he never got caught in a guillotine and you could do a fire man from that move to if you hold on to the wrist. GOOD vid.

  • Bad

  • yea thats a perfect opportunity for a guillotine...i was taught to put the top of the head into the middle of the chest, bringing both legs towards me and drive person down into the mat

  • this would be good as long as when you take him down right as he hits the ground get your head on his chest and get into a dominant postion. but yah definatly bad for a guillotine

  • this still isnt good because it leaves you head exposed for a guillotine

  • good for wrestling
