  • think you could show extreme ghostbusters?

  • I remember this used to take about 45 minutes to load from cassette tape on my 65XE, and one time my mum came into the room and said "what does this button do?" and hit the reset button. Caused a major nerd rage at the time.

  • i will bump this music in my car.

  • what a big building

  • اللي دخل من اوين بحريني يعطيني احلى لاااااااااااااااااااااااااااااااااااااااايك

  • I used to have this game back in the day. Damn, I'm old! LOL!

  • I think MSX version has better graphics than Atari 2600 version

  • I remember, Ghostbusters was my favourite game when of my childhood. Today I am 21 and sometimes I wanna play some of this old game on my atari, but it is broken...

  • @TheTarponko try to download an emulator :)

  • @TheTarponko i take it english is not your first language cause yours is pretty bad

  • I like the 2600 version better.

  • The city only gave you 5000 for rescuing the city? :P

  • scary

  • 1:48 oh god, its Stay Puft! XD~Zuri

  • lol Quelle horreur!

  • you could create new vehicles too i think if i'm remembering right

  • who the fack calls his child Herbie

  • @vRoosmalen

It was a cheat code for cash actually :)

  • @vRoosmalen , it is probably name of one of the programmers - and this was a trick: if you answer: "Herbie" , for a question of your name (at start of the game), you have much more than ordinary player - i do not remember, but it was probably more cash and credit.

  • @44i4 you are right...

  • No offense but I like the Commodore 64 version better. :)

  • Looks like the Ghostbusters' car has been slimed in this version.

Damn that Marshmallow Man! You never knew where he would strike next.

Christ, he's a lot bigger than the C64 one which seemed puny LOL

  • This is like a crossover between Sega Master System version and the Atari 2600 version. It's the same with the Commodore 64.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Memories flooding back (well actually leaking back) Hey this was released before I was born. But it was one of the dozens of games step dad had & played for many a day as a kid.

Everything from the music to the GREEN CAR!

And at the end the sound of the text was quite nostalgic...

    Ahhh...

  • why a green car?????

  • Wow. . .thanks for putting this ending on here. . .I was so pissed when my parents got me this game because it was nothing like I expected. . .

And how about that--a 2600 game with an ending!

  • which Atari was this for cuz it aint the 1985 2600 one

  • Way to go, Herbie LOL

I completed this on the C64 which was equally as good.

  • Activision kicks ass! Their games for Atari were the best ones! (Ghostbusters, Pitfall, Keystone Cappers)

  • Thanks Herbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Different" game from all of the Atari games.

The lyrics at the intro was unexpected for my.

  • Its Miller time!

  • WOW! I play at least 15 years ago!

  • The Atari version was out THREE YEARS before the Master System version. The Master System version also had extremely dodgy ghost designs like mad bananas and flickering sprites. This was alright, considering.

  • You are making a huge mistake comparing different hardware versions of the same game, then I would say Ghostbusters for the X360 is the best one, of course, compare the big difference between hardwares, it´s a matter of available resources that a console or computer has to offer, Master System is more powerful than Atari 800 because it came after the 800, it´s an unfair comparison!

  • I agree with you. You have to keep in mind the limits of the technology available at that time. If this is Atari how diferent is from NES? I think both consoles were 8 bits memory.

  • This Atari isn´t the 2600 but the 800, a home computer, its better than the 2600, if we compare the 800 and the NES, we must consider the releasing dates, the 800 was in 1979 while the NES was in 83 (Japan) and 85 (USA), 4 years after the 800, the NES has a better screen resolution, 5 audio channels (1 more than the 800) in a customized sound hardware and a dedicated GPU, see the differences? The NES has more resources available, but I still prefer the 800 Ghostbusters version, my opinion.

  • Mmm very interesting! Yeah that's right, Atari programmers did miracles with very little. You look that you are an expert in computers. I wonder what they could have done if they had the same resources as NES at that time. Never mind times changes. Thanks =D!

  • @professorzeta

    exactly!

  • Thanks, I am not an expert, I have a lot to learn, I am always researching, I collect old computers and videogames, that´s why I am interested in this subject! These old programmers are great magicians, they had low resources to work with, I respect them a lot! It´s much easier to make a game nowadays.

  • Truedat.

  • i played it on 800xl but it was a copy. Annoying game but good

  • you are wrong, this is atari 8bit version...

  • Not for the Atari 2600...which Atari was this for?

  • 7800 or 5200 I believe.

  • Nope. I had the C64 version and this is definitely not that version.

  • that shit never happened in my game. in my game, the marshmellowman appeared so MUCH he annihilated the entire city :<

  • this map has streets, which is impressive, but where is Central Park west? :P

  • what an ass load of shit-fuck

  • Jajajaja!

I never get the initial password....

  • ok.. how long did this take to get there, and what does the stay puft guy look like on other systems?

  • what kind of atari is this?

  • Ataro 800xl/130xe

  • There is no Dana, only Zuul

  • was this the commodore 64 version?

  • yes it was, long live c64!!

  • hahhaah! yeah...:D

  • herbie ya mean da love bug i dont member him in GB

  • I ain't fraid no ghost!

  • --- MARSHMALLOW ALERT ---

(hell, where is letter "B"? NOOOO!!!!)

  • Congratulations!

  • The game just starts over again with all of the money you've earned so far (plus a bunch more for beating Stay-Puft). If memory serves, the game seems to freeze and you need to flip a difficulty switch to get going (this game loves doing stuff like that, doesn't it?). So I guess there's no real ending... unless my memory is way off.

  • you are right a little...it depends what somebody means by final...a lot of 80'games were made like this one...after "final", you begin from start but level or game was more dificult...

  • It doesn't, really... when the PK gets to 9999, you're taken to a screen where Stay-Puft is jumping back and forth. You need to have at least 2 of your 3 Ghostbusters run underneath him without getting crushed. If you do, you get a bunch of money and the game continues with the PK back to zero. If you mess up, I forget... it's either game over or you just lose half of your money.

  • Hehe, ja sie ostatnio bawilem w przechodzenie The Last Starfighter. Za dzieciaka nigdy mi sie to nie udalo, ale wczoraj wlasnie zobaczylem CONGRATULACJE :) duma mnie rozpiera :D

  • wOHOO! thanks Odi , you saved our world again!

  • Ey! Nice! Ive never saw the 800xl ending of this game :D
