I seem to see people knocking this guitar all the time, because they see the mudbucker-looking pickup and they expect it to sound like an EB-0, and they're always disappointed when it sounds almost nothing like it. I think the thing has the most beautiful voice. I would love to buy one, if they reissue it again any time soon.
funny that both the animals bassplayer stopped doing music and started producing in 66 just like samwell smith, bassist for the yardbirds did the same in 66.
Very well played. Just a pity we can't see your left hand fingering the notes. If you post any more videos, how about sitting back a bit more from the camera?
Very good playing! Nice Bass. I own a 1968 Gibson EB2DC, similar to yours, but, Gibson, cherry, a second pickup and a 'bass boost' switch. Great basses !
I absolutely loved that ! I love that Bass sound. Somehow it has a unique sound that I have not heard before, but it does the song quite nicely. Do continue posting for us your accompaniments!
Dude, I love that bass. It's so deep and warm. Those flatwounds are insane. After seeing your video, I had to post my own version of this on my Lakland.
cool~ as long as you kept the original parts, its cool ^^. Sorry mate, i just love these kind of basses. I own a Vox Apollo bass but i really really want one of these too >_<
You've got GREAT taste in music. The Brit invasion saved rock from a Pat Boone demise. How about ones of "Pushin' Too Hard" by the Seeds and "Try It" by the Standells? Neither is British I know, but they wanted to be.
you are good. Please put more bass of the british invasion and let the camera see the whole guitar so we can see the notes. Its hard to find bass tabs on internet
I'm fan of 60's garage/pop,so it's quite a-good-surprise seeing a guy of your age not beeing influenced by Flea or playing some 6 string nu-metal sub-bass.

I had a Rivoli an used fingers all the time.... a great guitar, fast neck... Had a Fender Jazz bass too but used a plecky at times with that one.

Sorry that I couln't upload any videos in the last time, but I' gonna put a few more up the next days, so watch out ;).
Till now I don't know any Yardbirds-song but I promise that I'm gonna work them out for you.
I also plan to upload a few "Searchers" tunes.

Vox Apollo!
Great Axe!
and thank you for all the nice words!

Is that a custom bridge?... oh please tell me you didnt change the bridge~
picure 5 years ago
@picure
Yes unfortunately the bridge was replaced by a Music Man style bridge, when I bought the Bass recently.
But I am going to restore it into its original condition, because it's just a great Bass! :-)

Great bass !! I ALWAYS saw the Rivoli played with a pick.

Thanks!
I can post more Animals, Yardbirds, Searchers etc. tunes.
Well, about the pick:
All the 60s British Invasion Bass players played with picks, and if you play such a deep sounding Rivoli, it only sounds good played with a pick :-)

Great playing. But I think it would sound better if you lost the pick.
4x*!!!
omi666 5 years ago
Hello!omi666,
I'm trying to think about 60's British Invasion that didn't play with a pick and I don't find any.
The pick is part of that "plonky" sound.
Greetings!
Miguel
