I am having a problem with the live calendar. I put in a recurring event and then I made some changes on just certain dates in the notes field. I then had to change the recurring date from no ending to an actual date to end it. This then wiped out all the individual notes I put on certain dates. Can I retrieve them? How can I keep this from happening again. I use this quite offten this way, to keep up with the changes.
That's definitely an issue and I've seen the same thing. You should head over to the Microsoft Answers forum where you can get more in-depth help and support.
For one thing it's cross platform, so it will run on a Windows desktop, which means it will run on just about any hardware configuration. It will also run on nearly all mobile devices. Secondly it allows syncing with native offline apps like outlook. And finaly, because it's online it can be accessed from anywhere, with any device. With an offline calendar, you lose the device and you lose all the data.
No, not really. I can have my emails on an imap server, my calendar exported to one of the many service providers for that, and the same goes for my contacts. This way I can still enjoy working offline with every gadget I got, with all the power an online solution grants me.
With Windows live mail you have it all in one place. You can install It on a PC which allows you to work offline, and will synchronise with your online calendar/contacts list. You can use the Windows Live mobile client to work on mobile devices which will also synchronise. Or you can go to a website and access it from anywhere, on any platform.
In what way is your solution any better than this?

so how is this better than apples native mail and icalendar apps for which i don't even have to visit some website?
prattel 2 years ago
It doesn't matter! As long as it works. And apparently, both Windows and Apple does the job.

it does matter if i have to go online to do this. with a native app i can just browse through my emails offline, and can do the rest of it online.
