It's all about weight variation and Torque/HP... The FV513 is superior in both of these areas...The Quadtrack is very useful for what it is but to match it up a machine like that other vehicle is like seeing a Shetland pony pull harder than a Clydesdale..
Well its not a M113 variant. They have 5 road wheels not 6 so maybe Bradley variant but a Bradley has a gap between the 3 & 4 wheels this doesnt look like that so I think you are right my best guess is that it is an Alvis Stormer APC (UK). also the skirt only covers the idler wheels and the commander's cupola looks like its in the right place. I know this BC I'm Canadian Infantry, just to pass battle school a pte has to know Nato and Russian/Chinese equipment so we dont shoot the good guys ;)
More specifically its a Bradley not a tank. Hate how people think anything with tracks is a tank, and its got a chain gun, I think 44mm not a cannon which is like 105mm.
@porknbeans2013 That's a CASE Steiger Quad-Trac. The smallest engine offered is 350hp, with a 390hp peak. The most powerful is 600hp with a 670hp peak.
A Bradley Fighting Vehicle is powered by a 600hp diesel.
The difference in pulling power is that the Bradley's ground loading is much higher, because the Steiger is designed to avoid compacting soft, plowed soil.
@porknbeans2013 lol, I wasn't digging at you. That thing is kind of a beast even here in Ohio. But you won't find many farming tractors with engines as small as 100hp anywhere, anymore, unless it's a smaller tractor used for odd jobs like drilling posts, moving hay, that sort of thing. Plowing, seeding, all the big crop jobs are done with the giants now.
i think what these people failed to realize is that the Case quad track isnt about how much it can pull, it is designed to have a lower ground pressure per square inch, were as the M113 is not designed like that.
LOL and that's just what looks to be a 113 (one of the smallest tracks army has), U put that thing against and M88 you can 4get about it, that quad track wouldn't have even moved. lol
@MYF1LTHYH4NDS Please, know what the hell you are tallking about before you comment. The APC only outweighs the quadtrac by about a ton. 31 1/2 ton vs 32 1/4 ton.
I drove an M113-a2 in the Gulf War, Had to re-govern the carburetor, The Thing went from 10 mph to 45 mph after the adjustment.. That Detroit diesel was a MONSTER !!
@1987chevywagon Depends entirely on application. The vast majority of modern diesel engines are fuel injected, yes, but some of the earliest light pickup diesels had carbureters. Hell, most motorcycles are still carbureted. I would think that tank diesels might need the extra power that carbureters provide, so I'd say it's entirely possible that those are still carbureted.
@1987chevywagon I was wrong. I knew the first-generation cummins-powere rams had mechanical fuel-injection, but I thought the mid-80s GM diesels were carbureted. I can't find anything to suggest that's true. Kudos. I think the guy must have meant the injection pump, then, because mechanical injection pumps can be adjusted to make more power (a notable feature of the first-generation Cummins Rams)
@kaysandesses You know, reading helps. If you took another second to read further you'd see I said I was wrong. "I can't find anything to suggest that's true."
@kaysandesses Fair point. Still doesn't help your reading problem. It was an extraneous post that you left, which basically means you went out of your way to be a dick.

Sounds like you have a little confidence thing to me. For the record, here's what going out of my way to be a dick sounds like: go piss up a rope.
@JBS14baller Well first it is not a tank, it is an M-113 Armored Personel Carrier, and second it being mostly aluminum and 2/3 the weight of the tractor I say it done well.
@JBS14baller FUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKK YYYOOOOOUUU to the people who talk out their ass when they think they know what their talking about thanks bye
@JBS14baller that was a real tank. it's a different type of tank than one with a cannon. it's a personnel carrier. my dad worked on tanks so i know what's what.

@cl998 Well, in the first Gulf it was important to know what kit was what. If you lot had, you wouldnt have shot down your own Blackhawk helicoptors killing lots of your allies also you wouldnt have blasted two British Warrior APC`s killing the blokes inside. THATS why its important mate.
I was about to launch into an "You Americans can't really talk about friendly fire incidents and be too critical" response there, but then noticed you're from the UK, so what's with the "You lot" comment!? And when did Youtube become as important as an actual armed service, must have missed that one!? ;-)
My point is I am also from the UK also (so I said "all y'all", it's a US saying I like, sue me!), so thought *you* were a Yank looking for an excuse to bash the UK forces, since it's not that uncommon on YT vids...
@cl998 They think their mil is so superior. Bollox, superior Kit in a lot of areas but ive worked with their 101st, 82nd Airborne and their Rangers. get them cold wet and hungry and watch the performance nosedive.

Clearly a Reme Warrior 513. It has 6 road wheels, whereas the M113 has 5. Different hull/body shape too. The Reme is lower, particularly in front where it steps down around the half way mark withe a gentle slope to the front. Access for personel is through a small door in the rear, not a drop down ramp like the M113. The M113 is taller and level till about 3/4 the way, then slopes down sharply to the front. So many other differences, but it should've been easy to identify just on that alone. :)
that is definitely 100% a REME 513 armoured recovery vehicle. i should know i'm in the REME and have crewed and driven them.. so for all the idiots that think it is n M113.. do your research and get your facts right before posting comments that make you look stupid.
@mikeyjop285 Dont bother argueing with a yank mate on AFV recognition, they twat warriors from 10,000 feet even with mega optical systems on board their A10`s plus Hi vis panels and black chevrons on the Warrior.
It's all about weight variation and Torque/HP... The FV513 is superior in both of these areas...The Quadtrack is very useful for what it is but to match it up a machine like that other vehicle is like seeing a Shetland pony pull harder than a Clydesdale..

@mikeyjop285 Dont bother argueing with a yank mate on AFV recognition, they twat warriors from 10,000 feet even with mega optical systems on board their A10`s plus Hi vis panels and black chevrons on the Warrior.
stubbostubbs 5 months ago
@stubbostubbs A10's had almost no electronics in the gulf war and still don't have significant optical systems, its all low rez.
astrialkil 4 months ago
@astrialkil You're wrong. They've got the highest rez optical system known to man...the Mk 1 eyeball. Just kidding!
