Cops love overstating things. A lot of street racers are better drivers than the trained police! Yes, street racing is illegal, but please police... stop making it sound like murder.
Plus I think I respect more the individuals who custom their stock cars like JDM than people who have this kind of cars that just don't know how to spend it.
I don't generalize everyone who owns this kind of exotic supercars but I'm sure that probably 7 out of 10 owners (20's of age) are probably involved in something illegal job. PS: I am from Vancouver, specifically Burnaby. I have a friend 17 years old and will soon buy a Nissan G35. WTF right?
Why do cops always assume people who street race have no driving skill? Myself and one of my friends are qualified rally drivers and we street race. To say we aren't experienced drivers is downright idiotic. You do realize that almost EVERYONE with ANY kind of performance car has street raced at least once in their lifetime? All the way from F1 drivers to 16 year olds in their moms Civics, you cannot just group everyone's driving skill into inexperienced.
. You think you're doing a public service? How about allocate more resource in to some actual community service like picking up the garbage on Hastings and getting more housing for the homeless.
Slash the traffic enforcement department in half. Do the daily commuters a favor and stop writing tickets during rush hour.
I'd rather see nice cars street racing then police officers with nothing better to do but write up traffic infractions.
@hokman1 I expect you're probably one of the kids who own something like this. "Decent" speeds? Do you honestly know how fast 200km/h is? Any of those will do 200km/h easy...the question is can you keep a 200km/h car stable at that speed when everybody else is doing 1/4 of what you're doing? Sure they were "blocking" traffic.
BTW, East Germany no longer exists, and Communism doesn't solve this problem, or else these CHINESE kids wouldn't be here.
i don't get why ppl and police where angry except that they r jealous. If it is legal to sell supercars in Vancouver, then expect them to be driven at decent speeds. Or be like east germany, ban imports and make your own national car that tops out at 100. or in short, be communist.
@hokman1 they weren't being driven at "decent" speeds, they were going over 200km/h. that was over double the speed limit on the road they were on. that's idiotic
@uhuman678 LOL. While that may seem like the case it's far from it. These idiots decided to race up Mt. Seymour Pkwy and Cypress Bowl Road. Basically the road is a dead end with closure crossings every 3km or so. And did you forget air support? Drive along Hwy 99 and may be a chopper scouting above. And while these kids may be rich, I don't think alot of them are willing to put their life on the line just to elude the police. What the movies can do to some people.
@Maxmulham street racing means high speeds, which means that the cruisers have to go from a dead stop to the speed that the cars are traveling. and this is staged because ALL police impound yards are an 8 foot high electric fence not a cheap wooden one. this is just used to make sure kids drive properly. besides who the fuck gives a kid an audi R8 or nissan GTR or a fucking lambo.
@uhuman678 Perhaps this is just a scare tactic, I'm not a cop. According to what other people have told me (specifically non-reliant youtube commentators), many of these kids are, without doubt, asian. Not only are they Asian but a large fraction of their parents still reside in Asia. While I haven't got a clue on what their occupation is, I do believe they send dumploads of cash overseas for their kids. Basically it's lousy parenting on a 21st century scale.
@uhuman678 On the other hand, at one point of my life I just so happened to volunteer for the BC Ambulance Service and I've seen my fair share of road collisions involving high performance machines. The majority of these collisions usually are atributed by these overconfident drivers that simply are inexperienced and overzealously ignorant. And if you really think it's as simple as that to get away from the police, then why don't you try it for yourself? Better yet, race up Cypress Bowl Road.
Everytime I'm driving in Vancouver, Richmond, or Burnaby, I will always see an exotic car driven by a 20 something Asian kid with an N on the back. At least everyday. And I know for a fact these kids don't have jobs. A few of my friends just happen to be Korean and they are (and were) spoiled up the ass since birth. One of my friends has an Evolution and I was like WTF. He doesn't even pay for the fucking insurance.
@Maxmulham hwy 99 is the best highway to speed on haha barly any traffc but yah everytime i seen an exotic car its an asian we have alot of those here(Y)
some of these a quarter million? i guess you forgot we live in canada where we get shafted by paying 30% more for cars then the americans even though our dollar has averaged above par for the last 2 years....
Can't believe these young boys who came from our country could made themselfves on the NEWs. Unfortunately, they've race down the wrong path. Hope all the young drivers can take their talent and cars to an appropriate stage where their talent and investment is allow to shine!!
@3510211 It will not do any good in my opinion if you are talking about principles and surely will not teach these rich kid anything. I would say talk to the parents and see how they can punish these kids rather than deporting them.
Must be nice having parents who are wealthy and dont give a fuck what their kid does with roughly 400HP+
