I cannot wait till I am experienced and skilled enough to train horses higher level dressage movements. This is very interesting! And neat to see an icelandic doing it. Seems like you don't see many icelandics doing dressage! Keep up the great work.
I know :P Since this is an Icelandic, I positioned myself in an Icelandic style ;) I am now owner of a PRE and I am of course riding him differently:)
@anniponni i think to ride an icelandic its VERY important to take your legs back...cause for the tolt you need the back legs go forward..sry for my bad english.. :) i don't know the vocabulary for the horse things..
well concrats on that i´m from iceland and i ow 12 ice ponys. But there aren´t many horses that are willing to do this but most of the time it works in the end ;)...
Im just wondering , what do you have to do to start to teach your horse how to do this. I just baught a new horse, she is a 16.1 tb 8year old. and she is really good with her movments in dressage. i was thinking of going into more advanced stuff with her. Please respond, thanks.
I never tried piaffe, actually. I'm still improving with the basic figures (broken line, big volte, trot, galop, that sort) in the regular lessons I have xD
I know, that's why I'm still training that. I've just got my lesson from frequently once per week, and it went almost to a disaster xD (the horse I got was a bit happy when he could galop on the long side o.ô)
Do what you want, I'm a bit suprised to read that o.o But yes, it's expensive in this time.. Too bad, though.
haha:) well, please do judge before you have seen the horse:):) I am not forcing him to do anything, and he is happy:):) and of course we are not good, hehe, we're not pro's either;);) Just fooling around;);)
You're rushing it a bit, try to concentrate more on your seat, don't push the heels down too strong, you're gonna get tensend after a while and the flow you need is not gonna be transported through you well enough, that again disturbs the horse, its gonna tense up too. Also try to keep the horses head over the vertical, so it can get the hindquarters under the gravity centre, that makes it easier for the pony!!!!Good Luck for you and your horse!!!!

It's looks good to me for (maybe) one of your first times doing a piaffe with your horse (: I hope you both improve in this skill ^^

Good:) it is important to stress the basics:) Well, I think I am going to sell him. It is expensive to own a horse nowadays.

Have you ever seen a horse that's never done a piaffe before and did it WELL all of the sudden? Of course it's not good, but its a great start.
