This whole clip stinks of hypocrisy. First, you will find that Patton used black soldiers IN COMBAT when the other generals saw them fit only for support. Second, read the account of Private Kuhl. He admits he malingered and needed the slap. Esienhower ordered the EXECUTION of private Eddie Slovak by firing squad. His "attack on a broad front" condemned thousands to death. Finally, Stalin would become our enemy regardless of a few words in the news.
If you read accounts of Patton's words, he looked down upon non-whites fairly blatantly. So was Churchill by the way. Read their biographies and notwithstanding their other achievements, you will learn that they were both bigots. To my mind, bigotry washes every other quality one may have because it attacks the very basis of humanity: a God-given right to exist with equality, regardless of the color of skin. Everything else is secondary. And NO one is superior based on the color of their skin.
I'm sure I can take the worst nightmare I've ever had and multiply that by 10 and that would be the level of horror experienced by someone in combat. I just can't imagine what they go through. My thanks to everyone past, present and future for serving to defend our freedom!
