This reminds me of what Harry Potter should have stayed as. The innocent adventures of a young boy in a world of magic. It was one of the greatest children's stories in a long time.
When it got all dark and brooding, it lost itself. And that's sad.
@Igotopinions HP was never dark. It was and it is the story about love, friendship and, well, death, because death is part of life. It shows us that death is not something we should scared of, but accept like the part of everyday living. I used to scared of death, but after I read the final book the fear just vanished. HP means the world to me, it is part of my life. And I it is not dark at all.
@JackieGlamBaby08 I found the later books much darker than the originals, especially after I took each book apart to find out why I lost interest with the series after a while. This is also played up in the movies with the effects used. I do agree that death is a part of life, but the way that death was handled in the books was rather simple and unexciting. People just died, there was no meaning behind it. And the significant "death" of the last book? Iffy. Very iffy.
This piece right here captures all the wonder, darkness and bravery that is at the core of Harry Potter. It goes from happy to quiet and mysterious, only to bring out that well known triumphant tune as it reaches a swell, and it catches me at that moment, to the point where cry. This movie makes me feel so many things that other movies can't; because it's a nostalgic piece, something that all people no matter what age can look back on with happiness from when they first saw it as children.
This song and Hedwig theme are the best! It makes me cry when I hear them! Harry Potter will live forever in my heart and in other Potter heads out there! Harry potter is epic! :))
@TheChristmasFan He expressed interest when they asking him for the 4th one but he had already signed on to do like 5 other films so, scheduling conflicts...
why oh why couldnt either chris columbus or alfonso cuaron direct all of the harry potter movies?! up to 3 i felt a strong connection with the films, once 4 came out, it just didnt feel the same, i wish we could go back and relive the moments when number 1 came out.....
@girolle01 it wasnt anything to do with the plot for me. it was the fact the 4th book was my favorite and most of it wasnt included in the film. i know they couldnt include it all because of the films running time, but the way it was put together and the way all the parts of the film seemed to be added in clumps, it looked rushed.
@JohnnyDeppsBabyCakes Yeah, that makes sense. I hate the 4th book and the movie even more. "Half-Blood" does it for me. By far my favorite book and movie (maybe with the exception of "Part 2").
You saying you feel that way makes my brain hurt for Kloves. Lol Book 4 was by far the longest up to that point, and even with the film being 150 something, I can't understand how he managed to pick what scenes to include, or more realistically, what scenes to cut. What a very difficult job he had.
@girolle01 thats true, picking the scenes to be both truthful to the fans and the book must have been tough. not wanting to let anyone down too. i just think if anyone who has both read the books and watched the movies got the best of both worlds in the end. all the detail of the story and the chance to see it come to life. you really cant complain, we all have been lucky to be part of the harry potter generation.
@JohnnyDeppsBabyCakes I always say to the people who want to nit-pick at every single thing the movies don't include or slightly change that the films aren't meant to be a replacement for the books; just to highlight the main points of the plot.
Lucky indeed. I sort of fell out of "Potter" after the 3rd movie (just getting older and other life events) but I'm SO glad I got back into it after HBP. Now I'm like a "Potter" addict. Lol And talk about nostalgia; I still have the VHS of movie 1!
@JohnnyDeppsBabyCakes Same here. But actually in my opinion, the fourth movie was just as good as the other 3. It was really the 5th and onward that sort of lost it's magic. idk, but Yates kind of destroyed the rest of the films for me. Though, I'll admit, the final one was actually much better than the previous ones he did. It was entertaining, action-packed, and he managed to somewhat bring the magic back that we loved in the first film :)
@EmilyMikuChan i agree, yates was awful for the movies. the last one was an improvement just the fight at the end between voldemort and harry was disappointing to me, there could have been improvements all around but it was pointless going into the movie theater with expectations of it being 100% book accurate, i learned not to expect too much off them but just enough for it to be good enough to watch. but im so so glad in the epilogue scene they bought back the original soundtrack:)
Harry has been my everything since I was 5. I will never forget Harry for all he has done for me. Harry potter is and will always be one of the best creations ever
I just saw the last movie today. It was truly amazing and I loved that they played the music from John WIlliams during the end credits. Perfect ending.
love all the harry potter films, but my favourite will always be the first one. it's just so much more authentic and not over done by special effects. also because ALL the music is done by John Williams, and he's AMAZING
Amazing. John Williams is one of the finest composers of the modern age. To think that he composed the music for Star Wars Episode 4 over 30 years ago, and he's still going strong!
I'm learning this song on the piano. At the skill level im at which is a level 4, it is still really hard. hope to have it perfect by the end of this year. i'll post it when i am done.
The first and second movies will always be my favorites, mostly because they're the first ones I ever watched of course, I've stuck with Harry and his friends for so long, it's nice to look back at the ones that stuck with you ^^
Hy! Please, somebody tell me: what is the song called during Ollivander gives the right wond to Harry? The third, the right one! Please, I really do need it! Please, reply!! THX! Happy New Year!!

You know you love Harry Potter too much when you cry over how much you miss the old movies. This score is gorgeous. It brings me back to the days when everything was happy with touches of dark. Don't get me wrong, DH and HBP are great. But nothing will ever be as good as the first film. I miss when the innocence. And the score was incomparably better then. P.S. Can we all take a minute to reread/rewatch the series? God, that's weird to say. I remember when OotP (book) wasn't even titled..
Some songs just sound like this? What do you mean?
I would notice because it was composed with a key in mind for the timbre of all of the instruments; furthermore the musicians worked to get the perfect tone as an ensemble; taking that recording and editing it in such a way ruins its acoustic properties and the hard work everyone performing put in.
Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Home Alone, Hook, Indiana Jones, Jaws, E.T., and the list goes on and on and on.... John Williams is a legend. He will always be number 1 soundtrack composer, and the Hans Zimmer comes in 2nd.

@JohnnyDeppsBabyCakes It's funny because Cuaron's is one of the highest critically acclaimed out of the series but the lowest grossing (by far).
But I have to disagree. The 4th book (not just the movie) is a major turning in the plot, so it's going to feel somewhat discontinuous...
