Hi there Allen! How are you doing,I hope that you are doing allright.Once again I will like to thank you for keeping the memory of Marty alive. For me and I think also for manny, manny more Marty was and still is the greatest gift of God an Angel with the most beautiful voice that I ever heard.I hope that he may rest in Heavenly peace and that he may perform every night for all our dearones that past awayR.I.P.Stay healthy together with your dearones and have a wonderful live.Say hi to Tadashi.
Love this song. One of the greatest racing songs I've ever heard. I uploaded another great one, Dave Dudley's "Fireball Rolled a Seven," and Kyle Petty had a great tribute to his dad called "Oh King Richard."
I was only born in 1986 so obviously Marty had already passed on, but I'm a big fan of his music and racing exploits. What I love about this song is how he puts himself in the shoes of a true racing independent rather than the racing country music star.
I live near Spartanburg, SC, and can remember when Marty's #42 Dodge was based here at Cotton Owen's shop off White Ave. At that time, we also had Bud Moore's #15 team here, and Mario Rossi's #22 Dodge team here. If I remember correctly, Buddy Baker was driving for Bud, and Dick Brooks for Rossi.
This song was a favorite of mine when I raced stock cars in the early 70's. I saw Marty record his best Nascar finish (5th) at MIS in the early 70's. This video shows some great photos of other racers that have passed with Marty like CoCo Marlin and Tiny Lund. Racing is different nowadays, and I don't care for it as much. Thanks for making this great video and tribute to Marty.
Thanks so much for posting this! For some reason every time I hear this song I always think of not only Marty behind a NASCAR wheel, but I think of the Intimidator, himself.
I looked for this song for over 2 years..Ernnest Tubbs record store, the internet and everywhere in between..my local fye(record store) finally found it for me on a cd called truckers jukebox ..they had to order it for me and when it came it was the right song..that is the only album(cd) this song was ever included on.
@BrickPa Hello BrickPa, I too have been looking for this particular MR song. I used to race stock cars (1971-75). I couldn't find it anywhere. Then a friend told me about a guy (tarkuin45) and that he has most of MR songs
and he may have it. So I wrote to tarquin45 and asked him. He said he had it and would post it. WE LOST 1 of the greatest here---much to early!!
Hi there Tarquin, this shows how talented Marty was.The ballads are just great, but also these uptempo songs are also wonderful.I think that when you are a fan of Marty and his voice his music is the best.Thank you again Tarquin for posting these vids,I love to here them.

Thanks Heaps. It has only been 35 years since the one and only time I heard this song before.
But, you know, Marty does a good job with rockabilly styles too doesn't he.
