Soundwave could turn into a micro cassette recorder, Astrotrain turned from a robot to a train, to a space shuttle and this one guy..Defensor (I think) had a Motorcycle as a leg and a Helicopter as an arm. Simply put, they can do that.

Im afraid I must disagree. I thought the CGI in Jurassic Park was , quite frankly, awful. The dinosaurs, especially the raptors, look like ghosts. Not that there are enough dinosaurs in those movies to compare. The silent Lost World has more

Ironhide looks really badass now! in G1 he only had a pistol, but he has a pair of cannons, you don't mess with that! Jazz looked cool, too bad he died :/ And i like how much better you can see the difference between autobots and decepticons, decepticons look more like monsters and beasts, Balckouts face has the reference of a bug and a dragon.

@Erykthebat the way the confilct is depicted now is more like a bloodfeude(or should i say "oilfeude"?) between two races, but at the same time politically. And it also makes it alot easier to see the difference between them, especially since the action is seen from a human's perspective. It also helps certain decepticons to define their personality, mostly Starscream with the theropod-like legs. Giving Megatron sharp teeth makes him look pretty scary or threatning.

BrainSeepsOut, the new transformers must looks like that because if they were going to look like G1 it would be physically impossible for them to transform. During transformation every pice of the vehicle changes places and shape and form muscular, skeletal and anatomic structure. And G1 in real life would have trouble moving, since their body-parts are made of one or two pieces. So stop complaining and don't see any more upcoming transformers movies if you hate them so much!
