The overuse of explosions makes a movie that entices the ignorant. A brilliant story, mixed with a leveled amount of action, evokes the audience into a thrilling tale, within which they feel immersed. This is why I will never consider Michael Bay's movie, as a correct representation of the Transformer series. Nevertheless, each to their own, I can see why it appeals to so many. As for me I eagerly await the true representation, that I remember so many years ago.
@lesnians663 I think Megatron was pretty good at being the main villain. In my best villain list, he ranks around number 8. Above Baron Typhonus and below Makuta.

@hristobibov I can say they were shit because they were shit, the sequels especially. Bay took a steamer on nearly 30 years worth of the franchises history. The Optimus Prime I grew up with would never have shot anyone in cold blood, nor say "Give me your face!" Megatron got progessively pussified to irrelevence as the series went on, and the less said about Shia Lebouff the better.

The plots were either predictable or nonsensical, the characterisations were either thin, unfaithful or flat out nonexistant. The shifts in tone, even mid scene, were jarring. Bays directorial schtick is all style and no substance.

They got Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, etc. personalities on point. The shifts were seamless, except for one scnene in the third movie, and I have all three. But I'm not going to argue with you anymore. If you hate it, hate it. Everybody's entitled to their opinion.

@keetner i dunno man...they did a pretty damn good job with optimus and megatron and their relationship, especially since he actually cast the original optimus and ill agree with you that the second movie was kinda crap...went from trying to find the cube to energon with like no intro and after seeing the 3rd movie it felt like the second movie was totally unnecessary to have in the mix but i think the third movie was really well done, with probably the best action sequences of all of them

The "THIS BOT IS GONNA DIE BUT NOT REALLY" card got pulled far too many times. For the bots that did get killed, it seemed like most of them were introduced just so the likeable characters wouldn't get killed (minus Ironhide...wish he got more screen time). Megatron didn't even do anything besides bum around :/
@keetner fair enough...it did seem like megatron kinda didn't do anything 90% of the time + when he was doing things in 2nd and third movie "EVEN IN DEATH THERE IS ONLY MY COMMAND STARSCREAM" it was always under the command of the fallen and Sentinel Prime. also kinda seemed like they did the typical HEY lets introduce this guy (for 10 minutes of film) and give him no backstory but build him up to be the main bad guy. I am refering of course to Shockwave and his 10 minutes of screen time

Yeh, they never explained what happened to the ice cream truck twins, lol. But one good example of introducing random Autobots was Wheeljack (the scientist looking guy...who reminds me a lot of Doc from Back to the Future, heh). Instead of Bumblebee, he's the one that just gets killed :P

I really liked how it switched between three perspectives ( i don't know if you write it that way..i'm from Bulgaria).A boy who buys a transforming car, a squad of marines and the pentagon. I don't know if it could have had a better storyline, i mean it's a sci-fi action movie.

@hristobibov Well, I wouldn't call it shit, but it's definitely not a masterpeice. The plot seems to move too quickly, the humour is juvenile, and it's isn't very accurate to the source material. But, the action scenes are incredibly badass.
This is what Optimus Prime from Transformers Prime would say while this theme plays:
"We have been at war for so long... Autobots, and Decepticons... But in the face of this new threat, we must unite. the mashup between both themes is the awesome part! brilliant idea and well mixed- the two flow together quite well- something i wouldnt have ever thought of!
although, it doesnt change up- like in tempo and meter like a real orchestral work would. its just the same measures reapeated over and over again- dont get me wrong they are great pieces, but to make it more interesting and less techno, try mixing it up. re-voicing the melody, giving the lower voices something to do other than keep the beat, a bridge-like-section, ya know, something that makes you go hold your breath for a minute or some emotion like that. you have the awesome factor tho!
this is actually really excellent. i hate midi file things tho- i undertand what it takes to put together a professional orchestra though- fantastic job!

although, it doesnt change up- like in tempo and meter like a real orchestral work would. its just the same measures reapeated over and over again- dont get me wrong they are great pieces, but to make it more interesting and less techno, try mixing it up. re-voicing the melody, giving the lower voices something to do other than keep the beat, a bridge-like-section, ya know, something that makes you go hold your breath for a minute or some emotion like that. you have the awesome factor tho!
