I've been listening to this band since a buddy turned me onto them in 05, Christian Alvestam is a beast, such an amazing band, and the Lyrics are just my stle..Theres a reason why i love Intelligent Music!. Although i'd have to say, as amazing as the Holographic Universe Album is, Pitch Black Progress has my favorite song. Deviate from the Form.

Melodic death metal is more of a sub genre of metal and less one of death metal because of how much it caught on and how successful it's been since it first began. It's mostly the harsh vocals that bring the "death" piece. Melodeath varies greatly. If you watch the non-anime video of the song "We are the Nightmare" by Arsis, you'll see how different melodeath can be. They lean more toward death generally if you listen to more of their stuff, but they can also make melodies out of anything.

Yeah, melodic death metal doesn't sacrifice any of the growling, it just has a more intricately written instrumental part. Dark Tranquility is a good example of this. Yes, Scar Symmetry is something else entirely. It's like Alternative Rock, Death Metal, and Symphonic Metal all got together to have a steamy threesome, and 9 months later Scar Symmetry was born.
