is it just me or are these masks scarier than the masks of any other culture? I would rather sleep in a bedroom with Rangda staring at me than one of these female jester freaks

There are a lot of mask shop in venice but you need a lot of money.

Sometimes during the carnivale Venice looks like a city from a fantasy parallel universe.

The amazing thing is how sad the masks all look.... there is an aura of melancholia that is indefatigable and invasive... a sense of futility and despair that I simply cannot overcome, no matter the beauty (completely undeniable) of the faces and costumes. They all look as though they know of their eventual fates (a la "The Masque Of The Red Death) and are simply awaiting it's arrival.

Still, a wonderful compilation.... GRAZIE MOLTO!

Wow! The masks are beautiful, and the costumes are so rich and sumptuous. That must be very fun, to dress up and parade the streets. I think I would have chosen less apocalyptic music though. Thank you for the glimpse of carnival.
