The machine was a complete redesign. It was really good but had a few teething problems. Angle sensors were replaced. Radio gave some problems. My tcu often goes off and has to reboot, but I think its because the machine is left up for periods of time, and the terminals get a little oxidised. If I were you, Id consider buying one, but ask somone who has had one for a few years to see if they had similar problems to mine. When its working, it performs well, and its well designed.
@GilchrestJohn Ok. I purchased my s6 February of 2006. The first was crashed in an accident, on 11 March of 2008. (In the former month I had paid the last installment) This one I had bought in 2008 from the insurance money. It works fine. My tcu swithes off two, because of the "tcu holder" is bad designed and breaks holding it. So I fixed it with rubber tape :( (But it works now)
@nikdigrik HI, I'm a surveyor from Holland and I use a Leica 1202+ R1000, I am very pleased with its accuracy and the quality is really high, but the operating reliabillity really sucks. With the slightest bit of rain, my system starts failing, specially the link between handheld and TPS, furthermore, I even had a sort of bluescreen of death twice in my TPS, I was wondering what is in ur opinion the better totalstation, Trimble or Leica?
I hope to hear from u soon and I liked the vid of ur son.
I'm really satisfied with my Trimble S6 and I have to appreciate the quality of my Leica 1203 too.
If I had the opportunity to choose, I should love an instrument with the smooth and fast Magnetic drive, the EDM from Leica, the two handed usage from Leica, the GPSsearch, the software and prism with ID from Trimble.
In my practice I used both my instruments in rain, and with the intensity of raining or snowing the lose of lock is increasing. :(
@nikdigrik Thanx for answering me soon, Ill tell the company, where I work, that we should investigate the possibillity of at least testing a trimble and see if that system brings us the reliabillity we need:)
Good man, I hate seeing people doing two pint resections, proper order

you should never set up the legs on a wooden surface without a bottom brace in place. the legs could spread wide apart.
autopilotmachine 1 year ago
@autopilotmachine This is why we make a hole both on concrete and wooden surfaces, to avoid the slipping of the legs. :)
