  • Miss Hopper was known for her outrageous hats!!!

  • That's a hat from hell!.....

  • Sunday: May 27, 1956

  • @Bestmanme08 So in other words, fought to keep themselves in slavery, clever!

  • Sad to hear of the death of their oldest son David.

  • @weatherboi I didn't know David had died, so I looked him up in Wikepedia. Yes, he passed away January 2011. He had five kids ans seven grandkids.

  • @impCaesarAvg Yes, the date was January 11, 2011. I think you meant " He had five kids AND seven grandkids".

  • Hedda Hopper's son William was on the popular "Perry Mason" show; he played detective Paul Drake.

  • thank u for this post...as many times as I've seen tapes of this show, I had never seen Ozzie & Harriet episode!

  • If you ask me, Harriet Nelson was kinda hot.

  • And, we have to remember that this was LIVE television. Anything could go wrong, but usually DIDN'T. These guys were professionals. They didn't rely on endless hours of re-editing and "sweetening" of the show AFTER the taping.

  • Hedda -- LOVE THE HAT!!!!

  • @markedwardindc

You're kidding! Minnie Pearl wouldn't be caught dead in that thing.

  • @fmichaelb Especially without a price tag. Just playing along with you.

  • Thanks for the post.

  • harriet sings in Follow the fleet 'movie

  • what a scary hat!!!

  • Hedda Hopper was known for her outrageous hats; it was her trademark.

  • I miss this stuff so much. What a wonderful time that was. I wish my kids and grandkids could have gone through this type of era.

  • Show's horrible without Arlene and Bennett......and oh that awful hat !!!

  • They are both so cute. David looked just like his father and Ricky looked more like his mom.

  • One of the most relaxing + enjoyable shows Ive ever watched, If only TV sitcoms had evolved from this example of how a family should treat each other and others, It was a great pleasure to grow up with this family, Good Luck David wherever you are + how I wish a comeback including kids/grandkids would air.

  • Thanx for posting this unusual clip. Originally broadcast in May 1956, Eammon Andrews (BBC executive / moderator of BBC WML) subs for Bennett Cerf. Kilgallen and Hedda Hopper both wrote showbiznia columns -- Dorothy concentrating on Broadway, Hedda on Hollywood. This says volumes for the game's good manners and civility that these rivals sat down together for a friendly game. Hedda's milliner should have been shot as a warning to bad hatters everywhere.
