Awesome! The real story right from the horses mouth on how Blue Suede was born!
Great video! I'm an Elvis fan and the funny thing is I never liked Elvis' version of this tune. Always loved Carl's version the best. Elvis' version had no feel, it was to fast. Carl's version had a great bluesy feel to it. Probably one of the most underrated musicians of all time. Real nice tribute.
Great tribute to a wonderfully creative artist. I am from Jackson, TN, met Carl several times and currently manage/play guitar with W.S. Holland, Carl's original drummer. Blue Suede Shoes still gets the house to rockin' when we play it on stage. Thanks for remembering our rockabilly buddy, Carl Perkins.
Carl was my favorite during those lean times for musicians. He was a grreat guitar picker (could pick like Merle) and I thought he was best. He just wasn't as "pretty" as Elvis........
Truley fantastic ive never liked blue suede shoes as i feel it over played but i love carl perkins he is my idol the greatest accalade i ever had was to preform with his son! Long live the king of rockabilly, we will never forget him!
Then what were the other Sun recording artists Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison? They all started out rockabilly, and we all know that.
I have seen Carl sing this song for 4 decades and each time it still sounds like the first time. No one will ever replace him as king of rockabilly. He just puts so much effort into it.
carl was the greatest! damn, i wished i was born 40 years earlier...
