This game was fun...for the 15 minutes I could put up with it.

It was so much fun but I couldn't play Career mode because the menus in that particular segment are fully in Japanese.

No one ever made a translation guide for the Career mode menus, I was grossly upset.

What purpose is served by this half-assed localization/compatability? It plays fine on US video, saves on US memory cards, all of the text and vocals during the actual playing of the game is in English...why if this is a Japanese exclusive? Who are all those features for if it's only sold in Japan? Why waste the effort on those translations if you're just going to let those profits sit on the table?

Good game, too bad the career mode is all in Japanese. There are hundreds of tracks/track variations in the game but the great majority of them can only be unlocked through career mode. I think it would make sense releasing this game in Europe at least to reach a wider audience. Also is kind of stupid that there is no multiplayer mode. Fun game though, good one to play when I want to take a break from CMR2005 & WRC4.

You can play Japanese games like this one on your US PS2 using HD Loader! I'm about to torrent this because I unfortunately don't have the money for it, but I'll buy it when I can to make it all legal etc because I actually hate the aspect of torrenting, however I really wanna try this game :D haha

@dziltener That would be because the Dreamcast is part of the same generation. The reason why most Dreamcast games didn't match PS2 games graphically has little to do with hardware limitations and everything to do with newer software technologies.

@RikMcCloud I think with this one it was supposed to come out as a 10th anniversary package in 2005 but it ended up taking longer than expected to develop and came out in 2006 and hence the name which otherwise makes little sense.

Since they missed the mark with the date and developement went on too long I think Sega regarded it as a lost cause.

Its funny how some of the comments are how crappy and outdated the visuals look. I think people need to take the time to do some research and see that sega rally 2 is years old. As for the visuals, they look alright. But the game itself is hard as fu**, i can't get even pass the first damn championship year on the dreamcast version.

If Hollywood really listens to its clientele then it should make a movie about the rise and fall of the "DAYYYY-TONAAAAAAAA" and "Game Over Yeah!" vocal quartet.
