  • How long was J. Lo a budhhist? A day? A week? A month?

  • CRAP....that Jo Lo woman is as far from being Buddhist as you can get. The fur loving slut

  • @cosmosmonger clear your mind from all this ideas labeled as illuminati, Luciferian & other brainwash you have been indoctrinated with. Start to see with your own mind and you'll understand the difference between self and self and what Jesus had to say about wrong self.

Buddha also states self as a delusion, so they are on the same side of the fence on this point!

  • I don't think any of those is a serious, committed Buddhist.

    Just my .02

  • Comment removed

  • Isn't Jennifer Lopez a scientologist. That's as far from Buddhism as one can get. The Buddha says to never take anything on face value and to examine everything. Scientolgy - well no no no.

  • @lauxsd123 I Heard J. Lo Was Practicing Santeria of All Religions! (((Gasp)))!

  • @GaelaMorgana Santeri! Doesn't that involve animal sacifice?

  • @lauxsd123 Yes, It Most Certainly Does!

  • Stupid butt-hurt arguments below.

  • Any non-movie stars?

  • Maybe they are all Buddhists, maybe they're not!

but do you know...BUDDHA was NO BUDDHIST !!!

  • hey. yeah i'm the buddhist jennifer lopez.. HEY YOU F***ING STUPID IDIOT YOU RUINED MY HAIR... where are my 10000$shoes?? tashi delek.

  • JLO really???? Hmmmm

  • Wait wait wait...What about Jennifer Aniston?! Isn't she Buddhist too???

  • I know Jennifer Lopez. She is not a Buddhost, professed or otherwise,

  • Um...Jennifer Lopez is certainly no Buddhist. In fact, there have long been rumors that she practices Santeria, which is basically Voodoo Catholicism. Practioners of Santeria participate in ritual animal sacrifices and the values of the religion are diametrically opposed to those of Buddhist belief system. There is no way someone as materialistic and shallow as Lopez is a practicing Buddhist. Absolutely not

  • @aguacun Buddha wasn't a Buddhist, and would urge people not to blindly follow 'rules' but to find their own truth within, through the practise of meditation. Buddhism may not specifically say 'though shalt immediately give up material goods' but the ideas inherent in Buddhism are loving kindness, compassion and awareness. Non-attachment to material goods is vital. People need to do some work on themselves before they become enlightened (because the loss of self is a part of enlightenment).

  • @spiralpapermoon How interesting!

nearly the same words were used 2 days ago in a discussion with a Dharma interested person by this mindstream writing now to you.I like to suggest, that the last sentence "the loss of self..." needs more clarification here. The Buddha for example had quite an impressive self according to Psychology; so we need to discern between authentic self

    & deceiving ego self.

  • @agnostoatomo yes that's an important distinction I'd missed there! :) Absolutely true.

  • @agnostoatomo I agree. There seems to be a strange paradox in some Buddhists beliefs. If, as many Buddhists claim, that there is no Permanent Self (SOUL), only an impermanent self, and if one dissolves the impermanent illusory self, then they will attain ENLIGHTENMENT. But, then WHAT is experiencing the ENLIGHTENMENT? Buddhists must, I believe, resolve to accept the reality of SOUL, the True Self, which keeps reincarnating to acquire greater perfection and oneday...LIBERATION AND NIRVANA!

  • @moranplano What Buddhists believe is that we reincarnate over and over until we have realized the state of non-duality. That there is no independent self. There never was.

  • @edzullo So, the "individual keeps reincarnating until they realize that there's no independent self?" Again, what is it that keeps incarnating, and what is it that REALIZES that there is no real self? I personally, recall as far back as being primative man, throwing stone spears at mastedons. I kept coming back, slowly expanding and perfecting myself, male and female, hero and villian, until I finally realized that I am SOUL and that SOUL is DIVINE beyond all duality. THAT SELF-REALIZATION.

  • @moranplano It's a difficult concept to grasp because we attempt to grasp it using conceptual mind. When all concepts fall away phenomenon is realized to be a reflection of ones own mind. Take your dreams for ex. The dreamer wakes up and the "soul" falls away.. Recommeded reading- On the lighter side-What makes you not a Buddhist. Or a bit heavier-Longchen Rabjam-Basic Space of Phenomena.

  • @moranplano "...But, then WHAT is experiencing the ENLIGHTENMENT?"

Mind itself ! no owner, no soul, nothing we can put a label on. What reincarnates are just habbits and patterns inherited by another "child". Enlightenment is just another word for the stopping of misinterpretation. The word itself can be easily deceptive.

  • @agnostoatomo Pt.1 In my path ECKANKAR, we teach that GOD exists beyond all forms of matter, mind, time, space and illusion. We teach that GOD is like an OCEAN OF LOVE, MERCY and INTELLIGENCE and that IT created SOULS out of the Unknowing portions of ITSELF and sent them into the worlds of Matter, time space etc. which IT created as a school for the CHILDREN SOULS to grow up in over countless lifetimes. In order for SOULS to operate in the "LOWER" worlds, they needed bodies (like divers need..

  • @moranplano Again words & labels to make people believe !

i hope for good, but certainly not for going beyond.

Be your own light & inquire yourself...the allemcompassing truth is found beyond all possible labels and words.

Om gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha !

Om beyond, beyond, far beyond, far beyond everything, fully awake, nowaccomplished !

  • @agnostoatomo Pt. 1 Thank you for your thoughtful reply. And I agree, words and labels are not TRUTH. One must EXPERIENCE TRUTH for oneself. In ECKANKAR, we are taught Spiritual Techniques, that allow one to expand one's AWARENESS, and go beyond the body consciousness and experience the HIGHER REALMS where TRUTH can be truly understood at greater levels. I agree, that BUDDHA was a Hindu, as JESUS was a Jew. But, both emerged far beyond those beliefs, as they had become cemented in dogma...

  • @moranplano Buddha was no Hindu, there are no Realms of higher levels and lower levels and there isn't even such thing like me or you ! IT'S JUST ... SO!

  • Pt. 2 ..diving suits) in order to operate in the harsh environments. There were several layers of worlds with bodies and minds to run the bodies. MIND appears to have Intelligence when SOUL wears it, much like a glove appears to have life when a hand is inside. BUDDHA dropped the individual minds and enjoyed the Universal Mind..this was ENLIGHTENMENT (individual is lost and becomes Universal substance..but he is speaking from mind only) SOUL needs to go beyond this and return HOME to GOD.

  • @moranplano Again words labels and their interpretations, believed to be true!

Buddhadharma is using belief to go beyond beliefs. Not even the words of the Buddha are the truth itself but the means leading to allencompassing understanding, that's what Shakyamuni Buddha made crystalclear when he taught. Words CAN be like signs in the desert but are never the Oasis to quench the thirst!

maybe YOU! have a Soul, i never found any.Everything is interdependently arising & vanishing.

  • Pt. 2 One does not HAVE a Soul, one IS SOUL. The old saying..for someone to look for their Soul, would be like a man with a torch, looking for fire. SOUL emerges from Body-Mind like a PEARL emerges for the oyster. Try this technique...Focus on the Third eye, and repeat the word AUM or HU..imagine yourself leaving the body like a cork being released under water to rise to the surface. Do this before going to bed. You may find yourself sailing in Worlds Beyond, as a Being of Pure Light..SOUL!!

  • @moranplano You didn't get what i wrote before. However...may you go beyond labels, paths, techniques and a self (or Soul) sailing in beyond worlds whatsoever...may you truly end all dualism, discontentment, frustrations, suffering, insecurities, endulging in impermanent states of mind and clinging to a supposedly eternal self.May you encounter true Happiness and the causes of it!

(the man with the torch in his hands just looks at the torch and sees the fire!)

  • @agnostoatomo The man with the torch..better put, it goes like this...a person walking around looking for SOUL, is like a Torch walking around looking for fire...in other words, if all of your minds and bodies were to dissolve YOU would still exist. To experience oneself as SOUL is not a concept to cling to, but an experience that people can have if they apply themselves. Those Near Death Exp. are just that. The body dies, the person sees it and realizes they are still alive and they move on.

  • "To experience oneself as SOUL is not a concept to cling to, but an experience that people can have if they apply themselves."

Very gross "experience" ! trace it back deeper in your selfinquiry!

what you call experience is already the interpretation of experience and not the source, but a layer of labeling reactions, hence a concept.

  • @agnostoatomo So, if someone falls out of a tree and breaks their leg..are they HAVING an experience or just INTERPRETING an experience. In any case, I think that you have found the path that's right for you, as I have found the path that's right for me..ECKANKAR. I wish you well in your journey...MAY THE BLESSINGS OF GOD BE WITH YOU!!!

  • @moranplano "So, if someone falls out of a tree and breaks their leg..are they HAVING an experience or just INTERPRETING an experience."

Tha actual thing that happens is experienced, but to think "MY leg is broken and MY SOUL is there is an Interpretation !"

may you be successful on your path & may Love&Wisdom shine in you whatever you encounter & where ever you may be.

  • WISDOM WITHOUT BORDERS ❁‿↗⁀◎⊙ღ๑۩۞۩๑ღ⊙◎‿↗⁀❁ ཨ ཨ ཨ

  • THE VERY WORD MATERIALISTIC, IS ONLY THROWN IN BY THE UNINFORMED PERSON. NICHIREN BUDDHISM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MATERIALISM ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. ITS ABOUT ENLIGHTENMENT AND HAPPINESS THRU THE PRACTICE. A GREAT SONG THAT INADVERTENTLY EXPLAINS IT IS MICHAEL JACKSONS "MAN IN THE MIRROR."

  • Tina turner is actually a member of the SGI and humanistic buddhist organisation, the others may be too. Surely the point is.... the persons intention to work towards enlightenment, not perfection, each person in this video may well be aware of there own failings, even the Buddha was a mere man not a buddhist. Buddhism has many different sects/practices, so before harshing judging these women find out more about buddhism and the reality of it's accessibility to everyone.

  • None of them are Buddhist only Tina Turner is Zen Buddhist !

  • @456inthemix Tina Turner is a Nichiren Buddhist.

  • @456inthemix UR COMPLETELY WRONG AND UNINFORMED

  • Thank you sharing your knowledge. I found the mala beads are so expensive sold by a lot of sellers. I believe more affordable mala beads could help more people to practice and use mala. This is why I created ovalbuy.com to provide the most affordable malas to worldwide friends who practice. You can buy malas at low price and free shipping also.

  • Jennifer Lopez, Courtney Love, Tina Turner?

    LOL

Not exactly what I'd call a stellar group.

How about Woopie Goldberg surely she must be a buddhist too?

    LOL

  • @hockeytruth THE TITLE WAS NOT "A STELLAR GROUP OF BUDDHIST WOMEN." THE TITLE WAS "FAMOUS BUDDHIST WOMEN."

  • @Singer4lyfe123

Those are a bunch of baloney

  • @405OklahomaBrewing ALL YA GOTTA DO IS LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF

  • What makes these woman all the same: impermanence.

  • None of these women are practicing Buddhism as they all have attachments to their image. They may tell the press that they are Buddhist, they probably have read a book or even been to a temple; they may meditate. They all still have clear attachments to wealth and image. The laughable mentions are Courtney Love, JLo and Kate Bosworth.

  • @orangeaspossible

The major religions tell us to give up on material things. Unless one is fully enlightened, one will still have attachment.

  • Ahhhh what's your source??? Only person in this list that I know for sure is tina turner....

  • @kierredestiny2 I can vouch for Tina Turner, Kate Bosworth and Courtney Love all chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo and are Nichiren Buddhism SGI, Uma Thurman was raised withTibetan Biddhism,. don't know she practices it. Sharon Stone narrated a Buddhist Documentary and may claim to follow some form but with her embrace of wearing furs all over the place I know of no Buddhism that endorses unneccesary cruelty so she is posing. same for fur hag Jennifer Lopez, a decided non Buddhist.

  • @adoresessy101 Yeah....sure. When she starts living a Buddhist lifestyle, then I'll believe it. She is as materialist, shallow, and self serving as they come. As we write these messages, she is out cavorting around with some 24 year old guy while she is still married to the last man. Lopez a Buddhist??? LOL Some people will believe anything......

  • @ShakyamuniGirl34 I'm not saying she IS Buddhist, she just maybe interested in the idea of it. :P You may be right, I may be wrong, but hey?! We never really know what goes on in other peoples' minds XD But yes, she does seem very materialistic....I guess that's something to be kind of expected since she is a celebrity * Not to say that all celebrities are materialistic, but they do have to maintain a certain image I guess :P*

  • they come to buddhism because it's in, few have the faith, even less act on it.

  • We are Buddhist...we are also human.

  • Being mterialistic is not incompatible with Buddhism, as long as the money is earned by normal legal means. Thus, Steve Job is as a good Buddhist as the poor woman worshipping the Buddha in Hong Kong or Thailand who could not afford to buy an i-Pad.

  • Buddhism is not anti-materialism, Buddism is not so much like other religion, its more like philosohpy and education about one'smind. It speaks about two potentials- positive and negative potential. Positive potential is in nature ofind while negative isn't. Enhance positive potential and reduce negative potential is the core of buddism. Zerolevel of negativivity & perefected level of posititivy is buddhahood..i msaying this cause i have studied it 4 15 years in buddhist monatery in India.

  • there are alot of buddhist people in this world and in the industry

    one love hinduism,buddhism and sikhism

  • Jennifer Lopez?! Not in this lifetime!

  • Add K.D. Lang ...

  • Not to bring negativity to a positive video, but a few of them have me scratching my head. Jennifer Lopex, one of the western worlds most renowned materialists a budhist? And Courtney Love?... Jessica Alba on the other hand i would believe, even though she isn't on the list. I know for one she has the word Lotus written in Tibetan on her arm to remind her that like a lotus flower, true beauty and nature is to rise above the illusion on earth and above the water to blossom as a Lotus flower does

  • @LiamAndrew11 Oh for sure there's more I just got these names off a webiste list quick (of course double checking them to makle sure their right) to add to a school presentation

I don't think jennifer lopez is any more or less materialistic than jessica alba, just because they claim to be a certain religion doesnt mean they follow all the rules or epitimize the beiliefs there are plenty of Catholics that are murderers

I see your point but just because their buddhist doesn't mean their perfect

  • @reaytperson I think if you do not follow all "rules", or at least try to, you cannot be a buddhist. Perhaps you like buddhism, you feel atraction for... but not a buddhist. Is not a matter of being or not materialist but if you are interested in to be no longer one. You can say that through buddhism you can get there but you have to have the experience of buddhism and this means, again, at least try to follow the "rules"

  • @aguacun 110% with you

  • @shoshenkis =D

  • @reaytperson Dear reaytperson, could you tell me the name of the soundtrack, I love it really much, thank you so so so so so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @LiamAndrew11 well, it seems to me that those girls are actually not stupid nor materialist. They all just plays along for what we all expect them to be. Americans people dont want to watch the successful people. We love to see the flawns of those famous people. Who would want to watch the life of a nerdy geneius girl from Harvard?

  • @LiamAndrew11 On Jessica Alba... eastern influenced tattoos does not make one spiritual.

  • @LiamAndrew11 ... It could be fashionable in some circles to claim to be Buddhist. ... Or maybe they're just taking the Middle Way befween extremes.

  • @LiamAndrew11 hollywood actor's religions is just a silly head game they play. that aren't to be taken in any way seriousy.

  • @LiamAndrew11 I think there's actually nothing wrong with being rich, the problem is getting addicted to accumulating more and more... just because deep inside you feel empty. So if someday you have to leave this World and all your possessions, you don't make a drama, because you know you just leave it for some better dimension or you'll reincarnate in a good place. But the whole point of Buddhism is not torturing yourself in poverty, but to stop suffering. Remember the middle way.

  • Last I remember, Courtney Love was still practicing Kabbalah, jewish mysticism. She was NOT a buddhist.

  • Thank you for this beautiful idea ! But please, add Cher !

  • @27jupiter lol

  • okay here are the names:

    Tina Turner

    Uma Therman

    Kate Bosworth

    Jennifer Lopez

    Alanis Morisette

    Courtney Love

    Goldie Hawn

    Sharon Stone

  • @reaytperson Thanks! I couldn't recognize any of them.

  • Could there be a list of the women in this video? I do recognize the first and sixth as being Tina Turner and Courtney Love respectively, I'm thinking that Sheryl Crow is the fifth, but I don't recognize the others.

  • Check out my video about my e-mail from Courtney Love regarding Buddhist chanting: youtube.com/watch?v=ZZDhiMX2jFw

    I'm chanting every day now.....

  • may buddha bless you
