I heard somewhere that the chair was accidentally burned on a bonfire on Guy Forks night shortly after Gould died. A part of a chair leg is believed to have survived and is now displayed in a glass case in the Cathedral in Toronto Canada.
There were reported incidents of people who regularly prayed in the church of hearing piano music coming from the direction of the shrine. What is particularly unusual is the fact that the church had no piano anywhere. Newspapers ran stories of he shrine bein
@MrEYTheInternational Large numbers of worshipers and fans flocked the church which caused such a disturbance to the regular daily services that the church took a rather radical step and installed a series of 3.5mm jack plug sockets into the side of the glass shrine so that people could listen to the ‘phantom music of the chair’ for themselves. A commentator from the new age movement is reported to have labelled the shrine as a sort of natural occurring iPod.
@peterjordan16910 Newspapers ran stories of the shrine being haunted. Paranormal investigators studied over 100 hours of audio form the church and confirmed their was piano music from the Baroque period. Sceptics have dismissed the recording as radio interference for local classical music radio. What can not be explained is that the music though highly complex, is from no known composer of the period.
