How silly... "Political Con Racing Team". The fraudulent carbon "message" levered into an historic world-renowned event. Keep this crap out of real sport.
What next? Bar fights between the Hell's Carbon Angels and the Climate Change Disciples.... a load of balls, all of it.
Dude, the TT is the best real world test of new technology, these bikes have been 30 years in the making by an English engineer, who is a world beater.
I have a feeling that in 30 years time, when fossil fuels run out (and I will be a bloody fossil myself) this will be how us 2 wheel addicts get our kicks... I can't knock it - it's the future!
oursus - I have nothing against new technologies, the opposite in fact: but new technologies that develop naturally in a real way, i.e., the electric 'bikes come along into the premier event when they can COMPETE in the premier event, not some cringeworthy sideshow. They are not contemporary performance machines by a million miles, and do not belong at the TT.
My gripe is with the symbollic force-feeding of green "issues". It's political opportunism on the back of an established sport event.
Have you ever been to the TT? The whole set up takes more than 3 weeks, and there are many, many things going on during that time, loads of different races, some on, some off-road, proving laps, test laps - open days - when anyone can race, on whatever the hell they like.. this just happened to make it to youtube - there may well be footage of me out there making an arse of myself on a guzzi - would that rub you up the wrong way too?
Er, no.. why would that bother me? I'm talking about the electric bikes and the climate message angle ebing pushed, a different thing completely, as I've made clear.
I've only been to the TT about 15 times, so I guess I'll still learn more as time goes on...
There's nothing "fake" or unnatural about the way electric vehicle technology is being developed. And did you know electric motorcycles like these have top speeds around 130-170mph? Couple that with instant torque that gas engines are simply incapable of and you've got bikes that can do more than just compete, they beat the pants off of primitive gas-powered equivalents.
@beastinblack I agree - like war & arms development etc. My original point was that I don't like forced political plants in historic events, where there's an agenda. If someone comes along with a genuinely developed version, and mixes it up on equal terms, improves that way, great - why not. It was the symbolism I didn't like, not the concept itself.
"How does it feel to be anti-progress?" Dear me, give me a break. That's a phrase right out of the "science is settled" school. Perhaps you should re-read all of my comments again and digest what I'm getting at before going all climate warrior on me.
I work in a progressive field. It's the POLITICAL angle I don't like. The development is being showcased here, not happening naturally.
"Beat the pants off"? Perhaps you could remind us how fast they can lap, and FOR HOW LONG.
uncanny...Johnny cab on 2 wheels..does not seem right.how can this replace the glorious sound of bikes on full song..Hope it never evolves..

Your petty political hatred and conspiracy theories have turned you against the whole idea of improved transportation technology.
How does it feel to be anti-progress?
