this is great mastery here...great upload, thanks for giving younger metalheads like me, that where just toddlers when music like this was being made, a chance to discover awesome epic bands...
interesting... middle east death old school metal.. and i started to listen to many types metal and i found death metal the most sexiest type of music. instruments i have played ; french horn, drums, and little piano
I remember calling this music: "fucking up your voice in a creative way" like 3 years ago, but when I got to know how they actually create these sounds without killing their throats and started playing guitar myself (in the style of metal), I actually started liking this kind of music. It's weird how someone's musicstyle can change that fast.
@BvOBart The same happened with me , 3 years ago .
I had some friends that listened to slayer while i listened to fucking electronic music , i laughed about metal , saying that they only scream in theirs mics ;
@SinistaMinista666 You should also make sure you check out "Nihilist" - their material has been posted on YT. (However, be a bit careful as there is also an American band with the same name.) Nihilist was pre-Unleashed and pre-Entombed. Enjoy finding out about this music!
oooo shit this is fucking amazing the intro is sick and then dead forver comes on wtf this shit kicked my ass i love this i just bought this album siiiiiiick real death metal
Unleashed comes from Stockholm, Sweden and there are 3 major fotballteams in Sthlm. AIK, DIF and Hammarby..... their supporters are gluesniffing alcoholics and their team sucks....
The breakdown starting at 2:07 is proof that good, fucking heavy breakdowns are nothing to do with deathcore bullshit. Proper death metal bands use them too.
@NationalOrder ye but theres a big differences in death metal and deathcore breackdowns, deathcore's tend to be repetitive and annoying and all just sound the same (that just my opinion i know), and death metal's seem to be just heavy and atmospheric.
Lol. The guitar players in those deathcorebands probably werent even born when this album came out. This is back in the day when you bought Death Metal by word of mouth, Fanzines, and the badass tape covers, thats how I first discovered Unleashed, on tape. 10 points to the person who knows what a fanzine was? lol
@NationalOrder That part reminds me of a very specific moment on Carcass' Necroticism or Heartwork, can't remember which. Perhaps you know what I'm talking about it. In any case, early Unleashed rapes later Carcass.
Black Sabbath are the roots from which the Tree of Metal grew. Although Death Metal branched from thrash in or around 1983, there is still some Black Sabbath element in death metal.
Uuu man Black Sabbath of course but BS is the last in list who make Metal. Man some elemental from Hendrix and more and more classic rock and jazz music
ok bro I saw the guitarplayer of unleashed wearing a black sabbath shirt this by the way...thx for remembering at candlemass some good stuff I agree..,When u like doom and stuff but I recommend u Cathedral metal hippies-rock and roll-core-stuff with black sabbath touch;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
anyway no death metal without black sabbath; and no ac/dc without blues legends muddy waters...these are the roots...death metal developed out of black sabbath and thedeath metal voices hmmm thats a thing that hasnt nothing in common with black sabbath and nothing common with music sorry...I like death metal less because of the voices...I like it cause of the music and I would listen more to it when the voices wouldnt so...after 5 songs enough...
Are you kidding me? Death metal was developed out of thrash since 1984. Before death metal was around, thrash was the most extreme kind of metal during the early to mid 80's. Pretty obvious if you ask people like me.
ok brother I see at least u show respekt and u dont call me wrong...Mr.Wrong cool name lol;)
Anyway what I wanted to say that everything like new directions in metal was influenced of black sabbath...believe me for me its no problem to accept what u are saying cause I think we both music maybe u more death and thrah and me more other stuff...hmm but unleashed remembers at old days I was on concert man I was quite dead after dead;) so rock on mindsurper...
Yeah, I agree that some new directions in metal were influenced by Black Sabbath, especially doom metal. I love doom metal, such as Candlemass, Saint Vitus, etc. There's a band called Autopsy, a doom/death band who's heavily influenced by Black Sabbath. Some songs from Unleashed can be consider doom. Old school fucking metal! Good stuff. :)
Yeah, the One Insane is a great slow song from Unleahsed
In a way kiralyficko is right- sabbath influenced mid 70s metal bands like Iron maiden and Judas Preist, which influenced early Thrash, which then inspired early grindcore and Death metal
Hell, yes. I don't know what you're into, but check out early Deicide, Carcass, Entombed, Obituary, Malevolent Creation, and Grave for more heavy shit. Autopsy was also one of faves of that era.
Jeff didn't do shit. Kam was before him. Kam did vocals for Mantas in 1983. Possessed didn't make any recordings until 1984. Kam creating the deathgrowl. Get your facts straight. Plus, Kam has a lower growl than Jeff.
No dude you get your facts straight!!!!!! Possessed was the one who invented DEATH METAL, they were influenced by slayer and they were basically a thrash metal band ok! they are the first death metal band! Kam just copy the vocals of tomas warrior of celtic frost!
Settle down, guys! It is IMPOSSIBLE to trace the roots of Death Metal to their most basic, initial point. It's all in perspective. Personally, I don't think Death/Possessed/Slayer/Dark Angel or anything of them created it. I think that the artist that were in the first wave were inspired by these bands, and everything grew from there. Death Metal did not just pop up.
well thats your opinion man.i actually think that death and possessed r the bands that created a new style of playing extreme metal thanks to their unique way of double picking and heavy sound, but mostly heavy sound specially with death that was extreamly heavy since they were mantas eventhough these bands were still greatly influenced by thrash metal.what set;em appart was their heavyness. nowdays a lot of kids download n album and then claimed they have listend to it for years which is funny.
Ah, totally. I see what you mean, and I respect that!
In my opinion, I'd say that Venom just might be the beginning of Death Metal. I'm not going along with what Zero Tolerance magazine says, but, if you look at it, you'll see that a lot of Death Metal is inspired by Venom. Without them, we wouldn't have what would become known as Death Metal.
