@hellzshotgun Hi mate, cause of the nature of the counter-insurgency conflict its felt that the risk of killing civillians is too great as this fire fight was in a villiage. The problem is every civiliian who gets killed means that 5 more people will join the Taliban. i know what you mean, it seems crazy but I guess thats the difference between a full on war and a counter-insurgency campaign where your enemy lives amongst the poulation. @imagejunky The diplomatic and politically correct answer by far, i agree. However, in this US Marine's personal oppinion, the best thing we can do is simply "kill 'em all, let God sort them out." I've seen too many good lives lost at the hands of our shitty ROE. I don't really think we should kill every man woman and child, but pussyfooting around the enemy out of fear of killing a farmer causing 5 more insurgents to uprise gets 5 more Marines killed. I've seen it happen.

thats not why they drop flares.the drop the flares if things have been complicated between ground troops and the jet.to show the troops where the bombs would have been dropped.if its on target the troops can radio back and confirm that that is the right position.
why would you warn your enemy if you want them dead.

I was a US Marine for 8 years (infantry) and been in Iraq and Afganistan...UK Marines are badass SOB's, all I can say is thank God we are on the same side, they are tought bastards. Much respect to the Aussies too!!!

@shellshoc6789 sorry mate but the Royal Marines are trained to a much higher standard, its the longest and toughest basic training in NATO, I'm not saying the USMC isn't highly trained it's just they aren't as well trained as Royal Marines Commandos
