I have another question. I was watching an interview of Pat Derby recently where she mentions that she is against captivity but not zoos per se.
Since I'm not from America, I was wondering which zoos in this country afford socially complex creatures especially captive elephants animals a relatively higher quality of life.
@veggiewarriors Pat Derby's reply: "I have not visited all zoos, but I have found Detroit Zoo, Oakland Zoo and North Carolina Zoo to have high ethical standards regarding animal care, with the caveat that we do not support captive breeding."
@PAWSWEB Gerald Durrell was the best advocate of zoos, and he only supported captive breeding in the cases of severely endangered species, I agree with this method.
There is not a better organization devoted to protecting captive wildlife than PAWS!! They deserve and appreciate your financial support.I've helped them for 14 yrs.They're great!
Why train the elephant? What do you want her cooperation for specifically?
