This song was very underrated when comes out...But for me is very good..this one and YOU GOT ME FLOATING are pm dawn's best...Of course SET ADRFIT ON MEMORY BLISS is a instant classic!!!
hey maxbrute.... u call pm dawn r&b music? i must be getting old or something cos pm dawn is in a league of it's own, nothing sounds so divine yet dirty so happy yet sad as pm dawn!
and please don't compare them to poof daddy. there's no comparison imo
@paperalien My point is, they are far better than anything that has come after in terms of sampling; P Diddy was just an example of poor sampling, there are many others I could have listed. PM Dawn is classified as R&B by many but I agree with you, they are in a league of their own. They are one of favorite groups and are very underrated which is a shame.
it's all good max. i guess i'm just a lil edgy cos i'm getting older-ish lol. besides, we all have an opinion on everything and as long as we not horrible to anyone i think it's all constructive.
i wish everybody a gr8 holiday season (x-mas) and i really mean it. now couple that with good ol' music and i am sure it will be excellent.
@maxbruteforce At present, the closest I've found to either has been some of Erykah Badu's recent work. Experimental, somewhat ethereal, has a message, daring but definitely with its own sound and purpose. I think that there are R&B, Soul and Jazz artists out there who aren't on the current commercial bandwagons, but one has to be willing to keep searching even through sheer annoyance.
Im glad that people have pointed out the sampling of the drum track. Firther proves my assertion that the 90s was truly a lost generation among R&B artists especially. This was also the decade of the R&B remake. People that were once know for their musical innovation & creativity became reprogrammed into accepting synthetic fakery. Its no wonder that the live performances also became a embarrassing minstrel.
I hate R&B music so much. PM Dawn is the only exception; if they were more recognized, then R&B could have become something much more than it is now. Few groups can pull off sampling in their music and PM Dawn is one of them; they make it their own. Sampling has become something negative b/c people like P Diddy made it shit. All of PM Dawn's albums are excellent and deserve a listen.
@maxbruteforce I consider PM Dawn a natural progression from what Prince and similar artists set down in the 80's and early 90's. Not direct inheritors or proteges because they have an entirely different feel, but it seems like they were a logical next step. I remain shocked that they never made it farther than they did, but by the time I heard of them they were apparently rather old news.
@fortheloveoftunes whats your point?, I was just answering "Redback 80's" question if it was an original song with nothing sampled....read the comment above mine
Times always look simpler from the rear view mirror. Heck, when this Album came out, I was looking back about 10 years marveling at "simpler times". Time has a funny way of erasing bad moments, with more emphasis on the good ones.
Anyway...love the upload, I'm a die-hard PM Dawn fan.
Thanks so much to all of you for your comments. For me, although the track shines alone, i like it best in it's setting between the spooky little intro track and 'My Own Personal Gravity'-'tickling all my precious depressions'. Not forgetting all those other great tracks,'I'll Be Waiting For You' through to the pick-me-up of the last track, 'Jesus Wept' is a welcome respite to the materialism of this old world. 'Let the ceremony begin...'
It probably was way too "rock" for all their mainly hip-hop and dance fans. Plus, they were mainly played on pop radio, so it probably was too "rock" for them, too.
Love this song! This song carries alot of musical influence from The Beatles and Prince (back in his freshman days in music)

What TV show or movie did this go to?
I remember a tv commercial back in the day that featured the chorus line"you could be into you..." for some show.
Does anyone remember?
