  • please tell me!!! what's your tuning to get this crunchy sound!?!?!

  • very nice playin!!

  • WOW, color me impressed!! Very well done. How long were you playing when, at 13 you were able to learn this?

  • @GHOF62 Thanks!

I started when I was 11 I think. 1996 or so. Lucky for me my brother was a shredhead and introduced me to real musicians early on!

  • I loved the beautiful lick you added to the end

  • I don't believe you have .50 strings... I have the same bass,I had once .45 and it was really terrible,3 weeks I tried to adjust neck and it was really impossible. I had really high action and when I lowered strings,it rattled a lot. So I have .40 strings and I'll never buy harder on this bass.

  • damn man how long u been playin???

  • @eatadapoopoo69 Maybe about two or three weeks.

  • @jmatthews13 ha your funny but seriously how long

  • @jmatthews13 Tell me you're joking...

  • Real nice. :D Quick question... After you play the first lick twice, what are you playing for the the ascending chord line?

  • @blarg4847 Are you talking about at 0:06? G minor add 9

  • nice

  • Yeah....that's awesome.

  • do you thinner strings for this song???

  • @ForgottenToilet Nope. 50-70-85-105-130.

  • I'm going to get my students to watch this. Nice, quiet left hand.... great technique (and of course... such a killer arrangement!)

  • Very nicely done. Props. =]

  • man the tone is spot on identical. excellent playing bro

  • Hey can you send me a ta- just kidding :) Awesome job!

  • bravo

  • Great vid and great talent. Keep at it.

  • Dude I saved this and next Christmas I'm going to play it through the PA system on the engine when we are returning from fire calls. It's okay, really, everyone thinks I'm nuts and have been exposed to too much smoke and burning chemicals.

  • hey any chance you could send me a tab?

  • @primusguy12121 Nope, but Google will send you one if you ask nicely.

  • .. i can´t find the tab...

so i try to play learning from your video.. really cool ;)

  • It's the very first page if you Google "sleigh ride bass tab" . I find it hard believe you couldn't find it.

  • Awesome! Really adds a ton of fun to an already awesome song. You should put together a Stu Hamm tribute band, with all his covers!

  • I can't tell, is that a warwick streamer or a spector?

    great vid by the way

  • One of the older Spector Euros. Solid maple body, EMG DC-40s.

  • Wow - Excellent!!! Keep on playing...!

  • warwick?

  • Amazingly, I answered this question only a few comments down.

  • ei men where are u from ...... i think that u play really good

i'm bassist too and i really like the work of stu hamm .....

and adam nitti its one of my favorites bass players of this days

any tip that u have about bass i will accepted

    sorry for my english thanx

  • lol thats sick i got to learn that for the hoildays great job

  • really awesome playing!

  • WOW, way cool. Bass rocks!

  • what kind of bass is that?oh and niiiice!!

  • hey jason, i dont really understand whats going on from 3:01 to 3:04. it sounds like you're playing the same note, but you're fretting hand is moving about. could you tell me whats it about and why you would play the same note on different strings? thanx:) p.s sweet job!

  • It's just kind of a showy nonsensical thing that I guess came to me at the time. It looks a little more complicated to shift up to the next string, even though there's really no musical benefit to it (some tonal distinction, but negligible).

  • That was sooo cool! Thanks for uploading.

  • Amazing work man!!!!

  • is a spector euro? are you using some effect? Are you using EMG dc45 pick up? im from argentina, sorry for my english

  • Spector Euro w/ DC-40s.

The only effect running is a bit of reverb and some compression, but that's it!

  • dude what does your shirt say?

  • man jason i wish i was as good as u. im stilling learning the basic stuff. still awethum

  • What strings do you use/were you using in this video?

  • I don't remember. I buy really cheap strings because I change them so often (every two weeks or so). They were probably "Musician's Choice" strings from Guitar Center. $5 per set FTW.

  • Ace!!

  • It sounds crazy with the song playing in the background. It's like an echo of bassy goodness. 5 stars

I think I'm gonna try to learn this for a christmas show next month.

  • Did you ever get it down for the show?

  • I was about half-way through it when they told me that the show was canceled. They couldn't get enough people to participate. No big deal

Still, it's a fun solo to play around with.

  • oh my god you are an awsome person im glad u won the tso contest at like 3:18 it was awsome u r the reason the bass guitar is cool! LoL ^.^

  • Masterful! I always wanted to see Stu playing this song but it's good enough seeing you playing it at least! You're awesome!

  • really great job my friend!...God Bless yoU!

  • hey bro..just wondering who's version is it?and where did u get da track? coz i'm thinking of playing this song for my performance exam..maybe u could help me out..Btw, awesome playing bro, i'm so impressed and inspired!

  • It's all in the description, buddy.

  • that tone is rediculous my friend, excelent work.

  • dude any chance you could send a tab to this ?

    nice job by the way

    sounded gd XD

  • Just google it. My tab from like 9 years ago is everywhere.

  • What happened at 2:17?!?! Just kidding, seemed fairly flawless to me! Bravo

  • you are awesome

  • Is that a Spector Euro LX 5? If so, I'm interested in the 6 string ver.

And what is the official name of that colour combo? i wouldn't mind it.

  • It's actually the older Spector NS5-CRFM, which were the European models before the EuroLXs came about. It's an all maple body instead of the three-piece bodies they're doing now.

It's just a natural finish, but the newer natural finishes have a much greater shine than mine.

  • I've been playing bass for 1 year now and I always wanted to play this song...but it's too hard for me. Anyway that was amazing!!!

  • One you're able to visualize all the scales he's using, it's really very simple!

Thanks for the kind words. :)

  • What scales is he using? Good job BTW!

  • simply amazing... my jaw hit the floor on that one

  • holy crap nice job!!

  • WOOOW!!!!!! nice playing

  • Fantastic work! Your playing is really awesome!

  • This is beyond awesome man, great job!

  • lol subscribing to you man, you are awesome. How long have you been playing music in general?

  • Since I was about 10 or 11, I think, so about 11 years. It's been a while...

  • great job

  • speechless...

  • great job dude

  • you are a god among mortals bro

    =]

  • simply perfect

  • J Matt never fails.

  • The only thing he ever failed at doing was to fail.

    Ever.

    PARADOOOOOX.

  • Jazz (nice)

  • nice

  • I'd like to know what strings you use.

  • I think I've touched on this in another of my videos, but I use ultra-cheap strings. I change them about every 2 weeks or so, so I can't justify spending more than about $5 set. And I buy them from eBay!

    I use medium gauge, 45-65-85-105-125, sometimes I use a 130 low B, if I'm feeling crazy.

  • Really, wow, still getting a pretty good tone and all. But this is probably because of the Spector, which I am somewhat jealous of. One day. Very nice playing.

  • wow. i'm pretty impressed. that's hard to do these days (impressing me)

  • love it =) always look forward to new videos from you and thats a gr8 sound you get through your sound card man

  • I like your bass.

  • sounds great!

  • I play bass too. but you are much much better XD

  • Oh yeah, and remember you gotta stand up and have your bass real low and you need longer hair. And where's your fog machine? Haha.

  • Hahaha, weird that we were just talking about this song on the phone.
