  • @naveed80 Even with AWD if you pop the clutch at 5k you should chirp the front tires because you should still get lift on the front, it takes a lot of power though, I dont think even a stock Evo has the power to do it, but GT-Rs can do it with ease. Of course GT-Rs launch control has so much power you void the warranty the minute you use it because you will blow your transmission with something like 4 or 5 LC launches.

  • I guess they had to "soften up" the launch control to keep the gearbox and/or diff's from grenading when it engages at 5K rpm's. And when today's DSG, E-gear, and DPK transmissions are shifting in millisecond times, there's not really any human that can replicate those times on a regular manual transmission--the hardware won't allow it ; shift forks have to move inches, synchro's have to mesh, and gears have to engage. These Dual Clutch gearboxes aren't built/designed like the old "H" manuals.

  • I'd buy either the IX or X but I personally like the design of the X better. It's straight up newer...New isn't always better, for example I think the RX-8 is a joke compared to the RX-7 even though not the same class. I think the old MR2's are better than the newest MR2 spyders. And with this stupid tranny on the new GTR, I definitely choose the R34 any day, but that's just my personal opinion.

  • @trowa98 it depends yeah if they made alot of auto trannys like this design they wouldnt be that bad but I dont think it will shift as fast as the standard tranny will with a good driver cause even though its a good design its still has a torque converter which is heavy and will always be slow at letting the tranny shift and it still has planetarey gears which also will take a while to allow the tranny to shift and both of those also cause alot of power loss so standard is better.

  • @trowa98 dual clutch may be "faster" but you lost a little more hp from it than a mt...and the gearing is usually a little less aggressive...im not 100% on the evos but a good driver who knows how to control a great launch ( not just clutch dumping at 3-5grand) and nice crisp shifts will almost always beat a auto system.

People who actually enjoy driving a car to its fullest will always drive a MT...and the DCT DO losemore hp thru drive train

  • @trowa98 yea..100% faster than a BAD driver. These Auto clutches are only fractions of a second faster than an AVERAGE driver can shift a standard manual. Also, that does not take into consideration that you cannot powershift with an auto clutch, the engine throttles down in anticipation of the shift, giving the driver less control of the acceleration. If you have ever driven a car with a manual transmission(driven it properly) and compared it with ANY auto clutch system you'd see the difference

I have driven both the supercharged and turbo cobalt ss, and I work for Mitsubishi and have driven the evo 8, 9, and 10 plenty of times and the ss does not even come close to the evo. not straight line, not curves, nothing. With that being said I'm a huge chevy fan. not being biased. just pointing out straight facts that you are obviously to ignorant to realize. look up the stock specs on both and you will see.

    Want me to go make a short vid of my IX MR walking my girls Stage 2 Slobalt SS? I will even let my old lady drive the Evo so you can't say driver error. My Evo has an Exhaust, CAI and a tune, that is it. BTW, in a straight line and in the corners EVO > Slowbalt SS stock for stock. The only thing a Slobalt SS has over an Evo is from a roll stock for stock or mod for mod. Enjoy your Ecotec with fail wheel drive, I'll keep enjoying my 4G63 and AWD. EL OH EL chump!

  • @taylorcola just quick a quick search on real lap times. stock times. as thats what im refering to . moded = anything can be faster than anything given yes?. thats alot more to it than a simple 0-60 time :/... were not just talking in a str8 line. 1.4 ..and the best stock evo x time well last checkd that is was a 13.6 while that was the record for the cobalts 1/4 untill it was recently broken with a 13.5. fourms + track charts + = info. :/

  • @mentalm12 Dude...I own an SS (soon to be getting rid of it)...and those times that are that fast were done by freaks of nature. Have YOU run a 13.5 stock in an SS? No...most drivers (myself included) will hit 13.9-14.4 depending on the track. Nearly EVERY stock Evo 8-10 will consistently hit mid-low 13s. Please don't say the 'balt is as good as an Evo...it just isn't.

  • @mentalm12 The Evo X is a pig and is easily smashed by the 8 and 9 I will say that for sure. And yes the 'balt does have one or 2 things that are neat features that aren't an option on the 8 and 9 (like cruise control for example)...but as far as a hardcore performance car...the Cobalt can't touch an Evo. Drag numbers aren't everything..nor are N-ring numbers. Any complex/tight track...our 'balts would be eaten alive. Each car is good...but at completely different things.

  • The only true manual transmission cars come with 3 pedals and a shifter, you don't have to call this an automatic but it's not a manual. The reason people hate on paddle shifters in high performance cars is because they don't require more skill than an automatic to drive, so that's why you have people with a lot of money and no driving skills get into these cars and they crash them, making the car look bad.

  • @92benno92 - Im confused by all the dumb responses for this video regardless on the video itself as so many people are calling it an AUTO? when its not its an SST gearbox which is similar to the M3, GTR R35 etc.. he mentions its a twin clutch system which pretty much gives it away that its a manual but has no clutch pedal. The EVO X MR only comes out with an SST gearbox so you dont have a choice. For the other guys saying its an AWD so it cant chirp the wheels, my EVO VIII would spin easily.

  • @92benno92 - True as i would prefer a real manual gearbox if it was a choice but manuals with a clutch pedal will become rare as most car companies have already adopted the clutch pedal-less manual to cover a wider range of people and also because it changes gears faster and improves stats (0-100km) Audi, Ferrari, Lambo, Nissan, VW just to name a few who have used the clutch less manual.
