i love it when you watch the intros both minmatar and gallentae (dont care if i spelt it wrong) vids are a bit longer so they wanted people to lean a bit towards them but once everyone heard hypercapitalist and evil empier they flocked to Caldari and Amarr. (which was the right choice)

I think Caldari is more like Japan, small nation yet super-advanced technology wise. Nothing much like the USA at all. In fact I think the Gallente Federation resembles the States much better - the overly-democratic, so-called "land of the free" where everyone is free, with super-entertainment all round, yet many people still living in extreme poverty.

Caldari have to waste med slots for tanking. In a 1 on 1, a Gallente, Minmatar (depending on ship >.>) or Amarr usually wins against a caldari.

so you should know, caldari are equal to germany in ww2 and not to america. be careful by reading the description. the common welfare is more valuable than the life of one person. so you may reconsider your decision for caldari. :P

This is why I actually initially compared them to House Steiner/The Lyran Commonwealth from BattleTech when I started playing.. ^.-

Then I moved on to look at the Gallente as House Davion, and Amarr as House Liao (the Celestial Throne and all that), but couldn't go any further - maybe Minmatar to Kurita, but, really, none of the houses are tribal enough. Kurita do have their warrior ways, at least. Marik, the only house remaining, might as well be Gallente, too. The Free Worlds League.

Caldari are nice... but I hate their wildly asymmetrical ship designs, like the Blackbird and Osprey... In fact, nearly all of their frigates, and all their basic cruisers, look horrible to me. Merlin, Cormorant, Ferox, Drake, and Rokh are the only non-Caps I like from them, really. Raven's not bad, either, but it's a bit too missile-heavy for my tastes, and borderline 'ugly asymmetrical' to my eye. It's just nice-looking enough overall to counter the asymmetry.

Me too man, the asymmeticalness drives me nuts, if the were symetrical they would be the best looking ships by far though, so that's why I play them.. I pretend. Plus, Drake is awesome.

Yeah... Drake's one of the reasons why I wouldn't mind cross-training into Caldari eventually. For now, I enjoy my Maelstrom.

wow, they should just say Caldari is evil, pick Gallente instead. Needs more balance; for instance, say more about the benefits of the mega corps ruling. From what it is at right now, just makes them sound like they are slaves to the mega corps. Every newbie who will start playing will avoid Caldari after seeing this video (Especially after the Gallente one)

I agree with you, but i think they are doing it on purpose

your last sentence basically sums it up, the huge majority of new players now are caldari, they want more people playing the other factions

but of course it doesn't help that they have balance issues EVERYWHERE,

It's all in line with the ingrained social darwinist element inherent in caldari philosophy though. The weak fall through the cracks while the strong and ruthless will triumph, and imo that's what will draw players to play Caldari.

Indeed- Really, it should serve to attract those players who truly would uphold the Caldari way. Just as the Minmatar intro should attract fellow fierce freedom fighters to my side, and the Amarr intro should attract racist religious zealot-asshats with a penchant for slavery... oh, sorry, letting my Minmatar viewpoint color my words...
