I'm no expert in opera but I think her performance is brave. She's not afraid to make it ugly. What's happening to Elizabeth in this scene isn't pretty, and shouldn't be made so.

Just see and listen to fabulous Olivia Stapp and Martile Rowland and soon you'll forget of this terrible, colourless and pathetic performance of Gruberova.Stapp and Rowland were truly bel canto stylists,Gruberova simply isn't...
You can hate it, but many people love it or tolerate it, it is a personal taste question. And what matters that Sills did not do it? What is a stupid argument? And is it rarely the artist own idea what to play on scene, stage director usualy decides the acting. Thing more before you write hateful statement.
Very impressive, intense, exciting and thrilling to the most! Thank you so much! What a torrid interpretation with perfect breath control. A true lesson.
Coloraturafan, I'd like to ask you a question. I once saw on tv a performance of this opera in which at the end, the singer covers her face with a veil as, if she was already death. Do you have any idea of which version could that be?
Perfection in every way!

In a way, this is the most moving scene I've ever seen in an opera

Why on earth did she take off her wig?

I hate the productions where she pulls off the wig near the end. seems throwing down the crown would be a bit less- Sills didn't do thhis
