Plus, it's not a "2-stage blade". It's 1 blade, but due to manufacturing space constraints, they put basically a steel plate above it to cover the ram and keep stuff from falling behind the blade when it's extended. It just slides along on top of the blade as a cover.
It's actually not that powerful, as compactors go, in terms of fully packing/loading a box. These self contained units don't do as well as they could. Notice the blade has little to no intrusion into the box itself? If it had even a few inches of intrusion, it would pack more.
I like these self-contained compactors, never see them in action though as they are always kept in loading docks or enclosed with chutes. Neat how electricity runs the blade, but you can hear the power in that whine as the blade cycles. I'd like to get some shots of one at the local mall - they load 660L bins on the lifter and there is an actual viewing area of the packer. Just love watching the blades at the transfer station, they are beastly! Nice footage.
Dang, if I knew of an open access compactor like this Id love to go throw trash in it just to see it packed. Every self contained unit here is either locked or only accessable from a chute that is from inside of a building near by that dumps into a closed side packer. Thats pretty neat that this (apartment complex I assume?) has an open compactor though. great video!
It's a 34yrd selfcontained compactor

That's so weird how it's a 2 stage blade and how it retracts...Never seen a compactor like that.
