  • Hey Alan.... This is some of your best work to date. I am kinda partial though, I was a miner for 17 years and I have been there!

I am really pushing Tommy to take a hard look @ this song!

    Danny S.

  • @danthebassman07 Thanks, Danny. My publisher, Herman Cook, told me Tommy put this on hold. I appreciate ya.

  • One of the fallen coalminers, Carl Acord is a relative of mine. Living in London UK, I have become detached from the risks that all coalminers have taken for us. My Grandfather, uncles, and cousins are all coalminers in WV. thanks for the song, and god bless. Michael Acord.

  • @mikese4 Thank you, Michael. You must be kin to a friend of mine, Steve Acord. Steve and I have played in a band together for a while.

  • @cathead77 I have a Steve Acord on my family tree. Is his dad James Clayton Acord and mom Brenda Sue Stewart?

  • @mikese4 I don't know what his parents' names are, but you have me curious. I will find out.

  • @goldencountry Thank you very much.

  • Very profound lyrics. A beautiful and fitting tribute. What does "the willow bell" refer to?

  • @wvwkndr79s Thank you! The willow bell is a flower.

  • Alan, thank you for a beautiful tribute to the fallen miners in Montcoal, West Virginia. As I commented on Stacy's page, it takes someone from a mining background to write a fitting tribute. All your songs are wonderful, but this one is your best yet. Maybe it seems so because it is recent news and so heart wrenching. Thanks again for a beautiful song. God bless you and yours.

  • @daisymaescragg Thank you. You are so kind.

  • TOPS

  • @rudyvandam Thank you.

  • Beautiful song. I know little about deep coal mining but it sad that after all these year and accidents that have happened that we can't eliminate this danger to the miners. I guess it is much safer than it used to be but it still seems too dangerous to me -- these are good hard working people and they deserve a better fate than this. Thanks for the song.

  • @Mandolin1944 Thank you.

  • Great Job Alan.

  • Really touching words. Thanks Cat.
