  • clap clap!! the most greatest movie since terminator 2 and grave of the fireflies

  • all i can say about this whole thing is FUBAR

  • very good moive

  • Very sad and real.

I read somewhere that the statistics for fatalities in wars are almost exclusively civilians. It's not fair.

  • Yep. Well this room is pretty dusty all of a sudden.

  • This was a pretty good movie!

  • i hate war... i hate it...

  • Such a good movie. And to Callum0907, if you do that, then you have not learned from the movie. Hold strong and never let anything beat you down.

  • Well... I'm just gonna go hang myself from all of this deppression...

  • How can you take this seriousely this is so gay Ani what the fuck ever its called is so gay

  • @redk942 Obvious troll is Obvious.

  • Troll harder faggot.

  • @redk942 Obvious troll doesn't deserve to breath the air we breath.

  • @redk942 Takes one to know one.

  • @redk942 Drop dead, you heartless freak.

  • That part were the baby dies and they got all that milk made me bust out laughing

  • @redk942 laughing?

  • Well this is great... I can't play fallout anymore without thinking about this.

  • The top-rated comment of the last part of this movie is realy about >weat surviving an atomic bomb<?

    I will never understand people...

  • This film has taught me that Gojan was a bomb survivor.

  • lol he said good old weed

  • Good Ol' wheat.

  • A movie of sadness and hurt, comedy and love. All ending, with a dick joke. This is perfect.

  • did anyone else feel like crying when he put the boat in the water???

  • Still care a lot.

People from the USA sent troops all over Haiti when there was an earthquake there.

A lot of dishonest people who kept stealing from each other and killing innocent soldiers there in a peaceful mission.

Then Japan suffers from a tsunami and no fucking one helps it. Yet, Japan stays strong.

It may be a small nation and at that time full of patriotic idiots, but Japan is like the weath, no matter how many times you step over it, it will rise up again.

    Thumbs up if you agree.

  • .-. it's sad but...well I don't feel too sorry for this

  • still dont care one bit

  • When the boat was put in the river, i was hoping that it would burst into flames :D

Would have made a better, funny ending

  • i would have played house of the rising sun by the animals for the last 4 minutes

  • Someday, someday; all we destroying all atomics bombs in this woderfull world.

Because Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic attack, never repeat in any country and any people

    Never more again!

  • Scientists developed TNT and nuclear power. Politicians managed to find a destructive use for it. Company owners accepted to build the bombs for money.

Pretty much the way things work around here.

  • TOT

  • Saw this in my US History class. Nothing has ever made me cry so much. Why must the world be this way?

  • The alternative was an invasion of mainland Japan... which the army planned to counter by arming civilians with spears. I'm sure the end result would have been just as horrific.

  • war never changes, when we all die out and generations of past humanity will always be the same.

  • We need a tagline from Mother 3 for this movie: "Strange, funny, heartrending."

  • @NeoTranshuman The amount of casualties of Pearl Harbor doesn't even come close to the casualties of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Not to mention civilians.

  • @Advancedgod Pearl Harbor? No, that didn't kill anywhere near as many people as things like the rape of Nanking, the horrific experiments conducted by Imperial Japanese military branches like Unit 731, or any number of atrocities committed by the Japanese during WWII. Upwards of 23,000,000 people died as a result of Imperial Japan's agressive expansionism between 1937 and 1945, and they killed far more people then the US ever killed of theirs. They had this coming.

  • @MrCoffee1976 I'm so happy to hear that somebody knows the truth rather than what they see in an anime

  • wow....unbelievable. i normally cant stand anime, but this was one of the most provocative, heart-wrenching movies i have ever watched. and not just counting animated films.

  • Hiroshima & Nagasaki were just tastes od what WW3 is gonna be like.

  • This was a good anime! I'm not into Naruto or Bleach, but I like this one and Grave of the Fireflies.

  • I heard of this ending before i heard it was really good with hiroshima theme song not sure

  • @NeoTranshuman well fuck you

  • There's another anime thats also based on a true story at the bombings. It took 6-9 years to make and it was released in the 80's. Its called "Graves of the Fireflies". Its based on the a true story, the guy who made it's life. It was his expirence in the bombings. Its just as good.

  • Such a beautiful movie, I have never seen this before, but I'm so glad you uploaded it. I could say this is now my fave

  • Good movie. moral of the story is love. Not spread hate, unlike some of these youtubers below me argueing. sheesh its the past just let it be already. Enjoy the cartoon and learn its morals like caring.

  • @macshit900 You're so right.

  • That was a good movie, really sad. I wonder what happens to Gen after! D8

  • What's with the suggestion for RockN with the Chipmunks?

  • aperntly weat can surive an atomic bomb

  • @joeypie96 i think it might be a metaphor

  • @joeypie96 It is a commen fact that honey is the only food that never spoils, so the only two foods that can survive an atomic bomb are honey and twinkees.

  • @joeypie96 aperntly you are STUPID

  • @Adisovski ouch man that hurt

  • @joeypie96 you spelled wheat wrong.

  • @joeypie96 -"for wheat is strong, and it rises up even when crushed by your feet"- I dont know why they applied that to an atom bomb?

  • @joeypie96

ITS BASED OFF OF ACTUAL ACCOUNTS! SO SHUT THE FUCK UP BITCH ASS

  • @ FameHookersWench It's still happening. Do you mean to say you still trust and are proud of the US government today? Aren't they doing the exact same thing, killing off the dark-skinned for oil and power? It's not so much the glory anymore as it is the power. they've still got people's respect and the glory and pride as a nation. I would be ashamed to call myself American.

  • @theyeyeye I am an American......there's no perfect country in the world, and I'm not necessarily proud of my government, but I am proud to be an American. People will never understand war; I sure don't understand modern day wars myself, but doesn't mean I'd turn my back on my heritage and where I was born.

  • @bo7451 How can you be proud of something that you don't agree with? I am an American as well, but I'm certainly not proud of it. I'm not proud of the way our history is taught to our children. I'm not proud of the way our country's leaders carry themselves. I'm not proud of our society's morals. Right now, America is a plagued country. It is ill, and it needs to be cured. I don't know what the medicine is, but I do know if something is sick, and it is not cured, it eventually dies.

  • @jw89 Because of I was born and raised here. If I don't care for this country, I'd move a long time ago. In any case, the way things are, I know things will get worse, maybe the world world will come crashing down, although I hope it won't be anytime soon. Until then, I'm not gonna argue about politics on what this country should or should not do. I'm just glad I can do things freely here or say what I want without getting in trouble for it. You know it could've been worse for this country.

  • You people are retarded. You know that we warned the Empire of Japan that if they didn't surrender we would attack them with a deadly weapon, didn't you? Well, we did, and they said no. So, we attacked. Oh, and if we hadn't, we would have just lost hundreds of our own troops in an invasion of Japan. It's true that this is a terrible thing, but again, WE WARNED THEM, and they ignored us. If we had tried to invade Japan, you idiots would talk about how we lost American lives for no reason. RETARDS

  • @LazerForgotten very true, but I have to say the one in Nagasaki wasnt really needed. But thats a war, lives are lost for both the greater good and bad, its inevitable really.

  • @LazerForgotten and lets not forget about Pearl habor

  • Every war is wrong.

  • @hikaru3268 I agree, but I can say that is senseless too

  • @hikaru3268 True dat but the whole story line marked the beginning of the nuclear age... if you know what I mean.. but anyway nukes just make war worse than it is right now.........

  • Why bombs should never have been invented

cause stupid people have to ruin everything U:

  • THIS MOVIE SHOWED THE DARKSIDE OF AMERICA!

  • What I'd like to know is what that arch in Nagasaki is made out of. It survived a nuke and a tsunami!

  • "The wheat's Grown'!

    your hair's Grown'! and even..

    ..........Nothin' down there. ^^'

You idiot! :D at least there's some joy in this. :)

  • you guys should also watch "Grave of the fireflies". This movie and that are very similar. Very touching.

  • Aww at least there's a happy ending....

  • war is war

  • best cartooon i`ve ever seen.

  • Please watch Barefoot Gen2 .

  • it makes me cry

  • "Eye for an eye and the world will end up blind" -Mahatma Gandhi.

    FUCK YOU USA!!

  • @iC4rL Blaim our stupid as fuck government, not its people.

  • @100christman It's a sad truth. The vast majority of the people on earth have no say in global affairs; it's all controlled by a greedy and often deranged elite. It's always been this way, and I fear that it will never change.

  • I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH FUCK THE WAR, FUCK THE US GOVERNMENT OF 1945. FUCK EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED IN 1945

  • @FameHookersWench wow your cool

  • @sppsschoolkid IKR!

  • @FameHookersWench the US gov in 1945 was the greatest gov in history, those bombs killed A LOT but nowhere near as many as an invasion would have, the War itself was wrong but honestly the US did the only LOGICAL thing that could have been done

Anyway look at Japan now, mo fos are tough as nails

  • @FameHookersWench there was one good thing that happened in 1945 though, the war was declared over, isnt that enough of a mericle? yes i agree with all you said except for the "everything" part, there was good even in the dark.

  • @FameHookersWench So you're saying that it is the United States fault for the attack of Pearl Harbor okay lets be more specific SURPRISE ATTACK from the Japanese so we wouldn't interfere with the Imperial Japanese Navy

  • @naruto52222222222222 yeah, the japanese killed only 2000 people at pearl harbor. The US government killed well overr 100,000 people in the bombing. And of the casualties 80 percent were innocent people and not military personal like at Pearl Harbor.

  • @FameHookersWench ok so what ur saying is that if the us government didnt make th atom bomb it would have been batter? really because hitler was also trying to build an atom bomb imagine what he would have done with it

  • @FameHookersWench Dude just fuck the government in general

  • @LaVivaGan I like you!

  • @FameHookersWench If you're getting that idea out of this anime, then your just an idiot, fuck you

  • @slammarbyhammer This isnt just an "anime" this actually happen. THe events that happened on August 6, 1945 are real and historical. If you think this was written for an anime, your fucking retarded.

  • @FameHookersWench the movie is different compared tot he manga :o, but they just cut off some stuff and added some details. the manga is better too :)

  • Powerful stuff, thanks so much for posting these Mrcharrio:)

  • recalls me to Grave of the Fireflies

  • god bless that child.

  • America was cruel. It wasn't right on either side. The bomb should never have been used. Thinking back on how many Japanese we've killed... We were worse than the Germans, and if anybody disagrees, then you are not my friends, and you never will be.

  • @Maxxor501 Type on wikipedia Japanese and German war crimes.

Do you know what the word facist means ?

Japan wasnt surrending,The Japanese leader didnt care about his people, everyone was dieing, and your country bombed Japan for 2 reasons:

To test the nuclear bomb and to end the war.

Japanese people had contests to see who could kill more chinese and americans.

Nobody is right....but to create peace for the future people had to die.

  • @Maxxor501 your post shows a big part of what is wrong in america today. warped views about the past. i suppose you would prefer saying "sig hail" or smashing your head on the ground in reverace to your jap masters, then to live in the "mostly peacefull" world we live in today. people whine and bemoan the dropping of the bombs, but as nasy as it was i prefer that we nuked them BEFORE they were capable of useing THEIR OWN ATOM BOMBS AGAINST US. look at the past TRUE HISTORY and LEARN.

  • @Maxxor501 the war was everyones fault even the japanese

  • @Maxxor501 Germans killed millions more jewish people than americans killed japanese...and in many cases much more slowly nearly six million vs two hundred thousand . Hiroshima was a tragedy and never should have happened, but to belittle the holocaust...wow

  • @BlackValleyRequiem

But isn't the thing done to Japan with the Bomb isn't a slow Holocaust too? Not the people the died in the impact... or those after days of pain... what's about those who pay for the sins of the past? I mean it is okay to say that after the bomb falls it is over... okay... unfortunatly those which will born after that will still be reminded even when they are not involved in that stupid war from the past. And that is the thing... War is and allwyas will be stupid

  • @Black0Ben Yah it is a complete holocaust. "War is and allwyas will be stupid"

  • @BlackValleyRequiem Its not to belittle but its to express the severity of the terror that was present when this happened. because of it one can call it a type of "holocaust" against the people in these areas at the time.

  • @BlackValleyRequiem The Japanese killed more Chinese than Germans did with Jews. Almost 22,000,000 Chinese civilians were killed.

  • @SuperSkarmDG true but unlike the Jews always hanging it over peoples heads when those people weren't ever Nazis or Germans the Chinese got over it, it was War and they knew they would do the same if given the opportunity, and that would have happened if the US didn't drop the nukes

  • i would like to know whats going on with the nice nighbour. this movie is one of the best i ever saw. sorry for my english ;)

  • Excuse me as I cry myself to sleep.

  • This is the greatest, spectacular, excellent, and powerful cartoon movie that I've ever watched.

  • @d16 I'll back that up

  • IT GETS BETTER GEN. IT GETS BETTER RYOUTA. IT GETS BETTER GEN's MOM. IT GETS BETTER JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • D: :')

  • 2:12 omg

  • What a beautiful movie! Sad but heartwarming ! I loved it

  • I watched grave of the fireflies and then i watched this. D: Ugh, I'm gonna go watch something happy now...

  • God is good and kind in all things. Even though the world pass away, there he is always.

  • poor Tomoko, but I read in wikipedia she is alive?

  • What a great movie! I almost cried!

  • @lu4y4pants if this made you almost cry then try grave of the fire flies

  • @samo5566 I watched that before I saw this movie. I almost cried at that one, too.

  • This comes to show you a horrible after of a bomb can be fixed by happiness.

A sad movie. But a Great one. :')

  • 2:12 yea its japan all right.

  • @fadfskfsk Barbara Bush had sometime similarly profound to say upon the subject of war. Of that subject, she remarked: 'War is not nice'.

    Wooooooooo! Revelation!

  • 2:15 hmm nothin down there!LOL XD

  • God... Two words to describe this movie: Mood Whiplash.

  • The first movie to move this bitter, bitter cynic to tears, thank you

  • 1:57 Oh my God...

  • I forgot I had to watch this movie for a class i have tommorrow. Now its 12:45 at night and i'm laying wide awake and i'm not sure if I'll ever be able to sleep again. It feels like my heart was just ripped out then suddenly put back in just so it could be ripped back out again.

  • To give clear info:

    1. The emperor was a figurehead and tojo his prime minister controlled the government with militaristic tactics

    2. If fat man (the bomb dropped on nagasaki) had been postponed a few days, japan would have had time to surrender because on the day fat man was dropped tojo was in the middle of aranging his terms of surrender.

    3. Project gen the sponsers of this film and the ten book manga series it is based on is a project to raise awarness about the survivors of the bombs an

  • what really pisses me off is even though 2 nuclear bombs that where launched against japan which are still causing health issues, the country still adores America, adopting everything the release. If I was Japan I would at least boycott everything thats from America and always refuse to help them for at least 100 years

  • @ultragacktfan1 but we have a mutual relationship nowadays and last time i checked the past doesn't matter wat does is to make the best of the present and strive toward a better future

  • @ultragacktfan1 yes..."japan should totally boycott america.." because the last time Japan was nationalistic and boycotting US goods, everything ended soo well... asshole. :/ you're just trying to createe new hate, new racisms... why? why do you hate globalization, and cultural tolerance, and americans liking japanese, and japanese liking americans?

  • this has to be the saddest anime movie ever...

  • @j14anime LOL

  • @j14anime try grave of the fireflies

  • I cried a lot on this one.

  • I wish the alarms whent off

  • Loved it!

  • @jostaful Fuck you! Your gay! This is the best movie ever!!!! And your also calling everyone involved gay, Fuck you jostaful, Fuck you

  • Who else here thinks ryuta is shinji's reincarnation?

  • @supablasta300 well not really cuz he is like the same age so yeah not really

  • Saddest. Movie. Ever.

  • that was gay

  • @jostaful

Wow..you are the most racist person I have ever heard of!

  • dresden was far worse than the hiroshima bombings

  • @LittleRoker agreed

  • this movie always brings tears to my eyes

  • DX best moral evr

  • Mad men where controlling Japan in those days. The miscalculation on the part of the Japanese leaders was that they didn't realize that US leaders in Washington where even more mad. This in turn always leads to spillage of innocent blood on both sides of the equation. When the first blow was struck in Peril Harbor, one of the mad men in Japan knew what would fallow, as he said, '' We have awakened a sleeping giant".

  • @62636263c its pearl harbor not peril harbor ! (peril means perishing)

  • the fucking japanese gov. couldnt have surrendered sooner?

  • @Darkking271 The fucking US Goverment must have throwin A-Bombs on civilists?

  • @LunaMajesty Did they have to sneak attack Hawaii. No, it shouldn't have ever had to happen, but it was the emperor's pride that had it happen the way it did. Because of such a stupid thing millions died, both American and Japanese.

  • @Comeback64 actually the emperor didn't want the war.. but the emporer has very little power. he's more like an honorary citizen who is treated like a god.

  • @Darkking271 They did. We bombed them again a few days later anyway.

  • 'Ti Tuga digga tu Gi Friba fligugibu Uh Fligugigbu Uh Di Ei Friba Du Gi Fligu fligugigugi Flilibili Ah

  • TT-TT

  • This movie is awesome very emotional what i learned is war is not the answer and to all the innocent people who have died may god have mercy on you!

  • @darksamurai100 This was the answer to the question the Japanese asked, America had to tell Japan twice for the people to understand that their wholesale destruction was only a couple of bombs away.

  • @darksamurai100 Its such an amazing and TRUE story

  • I imagine this cartoon showed to the guys that created, the guys who ordened and the guys who droped it. It will be a slap in the face.

  • Oh the race to 100 was not a fast death they were killed by swords, I'm not against japanese, actually i love their culture and i love japanese people, theres a lot you can learn from them, i'm just pointing out the facts that so many people cry oh americans are evil because of this but yet they dont do no kind of research to see that we americans not only saved our people but al
