Wow, the gun stabilization on that Chinese tank is exceptionally poor. Turret trackign seemed about equal, but the japanese Tank seemed to have much better suspensiona nd drive train. I'd pick the Type 90, of those two, but stil the abrams is superior.
I have to go with the JSDF Type 90. The Type 90 is based off the Leopard II and has Composite armor and the battle proven Rheinmettal 120mm L/44 cannon.
The Chinese Type 99 is also a excellent tank in that it is similar to the Russian T-90. If the Chinese Type 99 got a updated turret design similar to the Yatagan -120 then I would say it would be even harder to decide. As it is now crew training will be the deciding factor.
If redwhiteeurotrash gets some much needed education then he would understand that Japanese people are closet to Mongols linguistically and genetically than the average Chinese.
The type 99 is overhyped. I think it is inferior to the type 90. Probably inferior to the K1A1, Leopard 2, Leclerc AMX 56, Challenger, M1, and Ariete. Just look at the state of the chinese defense industry. I don't think they are so good as to produce something of the caliber that I mentioned. AT this stage they are developing weapon systems by using the russian weapons as template mostly. They are not at a stage where they can design and build their own designs.

Type90 was developed in the 80s.
Type10 was developed in the 2000's.
Many of Chinese tanks are the modified versions of T-72 of Soviet developed in the 60s.

@33927859 all you have to do is look at the chassis and you will see that it is that of a t72. The main upgrades have been to the turret. But it is nothing when compared to the M1A2, Challenger or Leopard. Or any other modern western MBT

@DisgorgeKILLusa It's the Type 98 that is similar to the T-72 and not the Type 99. The Type 99 has already been upgraded to the A2 version with improvements to the point that it can almost be considered as an entirely new tank.

@TheBrolit I have personally seen a tank type-99 in joint exercises in Russia. It's very raw, unfinished and mediocre car. In any case, I personally think that the base of the T-64 and its modifications have to give up and do another platform. This tank is a dense arrangement and it is trite outdated in the late 80s.

It's not Chinese type 99 MBT, it's chinese type 96 MBT, you can distinguish them by whether they have a cylinder instrument on the gun platform.
Type 99 costs a lot and even today there are just 200 type 99 serving in the Chinese army, but type 96 has a number of over 1000.

Type 90 is really okay. Chinese tanks are poorer. I just do not know if Japanese crews are better than the Chinese... It is still the crew that counts not the technology. Well, so regretful that the Japanese have become more "cowards" now than before. Perhaps, brought about by the stereotype of the Japanese against the "military". BE ASSERTIVE!!! Wow, the gun stabilization on that Chinese tank is exceptionally poor. Turret trackign seemed about equal, but the japanese Tank seemed to have much better suspensiona nd drive train. I'd pick the Type 90, of those two, but stil the abrams is superior.

I have to go with the JSDF Type 90. The Type 90 is based off the Leopard II and has Composite armor and the battle proven Rheinmettal 120mm L/44 cannon.
The Chinese Type 99 is also a excellent tank in that it is similar to the Russian T-90. If the Chinese Type 99 got a updated turret design similar to the Yatagan -120 then I would say it would be even harder to decide. As it is now crew training will be the deciding factor.

The type 99 is overhyped. I think it is inferior to the type 90. Probably inferior to the K1A1, Leopard 2, Leclerc AMX 56, Challenger, M1, and Ariete. Just look at the state of the chinese defense industry. I don't think they are so good as to produce something of the caliber that I mentioned. AT this stage they are developing weapon systems by using the russian weapons as template mostly. They are not at a stage where they can design and build their own designs.

@redwhitedude actually many guns and technology in china is not plainly built on russia or any other country, china finds the technology used in the most powerful objects from several countries and put it together and add chinese technology onto this item to make it more outstanding than the rest, the worlds fastest train for example was built from japanese, german, canadian, and USA tech and china embraced it to a even higher level! This tank is much more powerful than pathedic japanese tanks!

@tacosvsburitos china more of less steals them since intellectual property is not respected. The fact that you mention china takes technology from other countries brings up another issue. How effectively cam china integrate and make use of these technologies. Also there is an embargo of arms from the EU and US so it can't possibly access the most powerful technologies in the world. I wouldn't call the japanese tanks pathetic. Japan is far more technogically advanced overall than china.
