I visited the site in Feb '92 and there were about 4 or 5 stoners sitting around his gravesite smoking weed. The metal fence wasn't there back then, nor the photos.
well done...I was there in 85 why would you take the metro walk !!!I got to sit on his headstone...were the hell did the bust of him go anyway??I see that there are plenty of cats still.Too bad it's the way it is graffiti everywere.Just for the record he was a DRUNK!and a bad one with a high I.Q...
This song is haunting and goes perfect with the video. This is also the song ussed at the very end of "The Doors" movie when they show Jim's grave as well.
i still think he wasn't of this world, there was something about him.........just too diffrent........in a sad and cruel way i think that he was mean't to die young........because he truly didn't belong in this filthy world
"Death makes angels of us all..." at least it made an angel of him !...unless he was already one. My sister arrived in Paris yesterday and she went to the Père Lachaise with a mission: finding Jim's grave and take a picture for me.
Hope she didn't forget.
Jim may be dead, but I guess he's still living in many many hearts...
Thank you so much for making this movie, especially that it is just like going there oneself. You were such a sweetie to do this this way. Thanks and love.
very nice video although shame the money machines still after there pound of flesh and exploiting jim like he was in life ,by selling memorabilia near the cemetary. r.i.p jim.
Like the video, thanks. I was here just 3 days after singing his songs in a 3 hour show (Morrison Resurrection Experiment), and it was extrememly sad to be there, but the most beautiful place in Paris to me.
Check out my Catacombes video, I think you'll like it. Once again, good job on this video. -peace
Just returned from here. We stayed in Jim's Room (No.4) at Hotel de Medicis, on the 36th Anniversary of his death, after attending The Doors concert, front of stage, La Grand Rex, speaking to Ray and seeing them briefly at Jim's grave earlier. Awesome. Your vid is both respectful and beautiful. Jim was very special and extremely talented. He worked his audience like no-one else ever has or ever will.Try looking in Hotel de Medicis. They are still taking bookings, but not for much longer. Elaine
Sorry, as I may be in the minority among Doors fans and Americans visiting this famous cemetery, but I was saddened to discover that Jim Morrison's grave was the only one within this world-famous cemetery that had a 24/7 guard and frequent graffiti/vandalism, while the nearby graves of Chopin and Wilde (and dozens of other famous artists I love) stood abandoned. Morrison was a great poet, but how well do the rantings of a puking alcoholic stand up to Chopin's etudes or to Wilde's prose?
I think the fence is there now because they seem to have got rid of the police presence that used to stand guard there, (and would not let you shoot video footage incidentally). Good vid mate.
I spent a lot of time there in the 80's smoking hash from Belleville and drinking beer. I have the BEST (copyrighted)photos before someone stole the headstone-when I got back from France and had it dvlpt some azhole at K Mart sent me back photos of giraffes, lions, tigers & shit from Africa- had to threaten to sue them to get my pics-Maybe Jim got a job in a photo lab?I SWEAR MY HAND TO GOD THIS IS A TRUE STORY-smart asses at photo labs....HOBILLY JERRY
fuking great video.was over to visit pere lachaise last week and this gives me some great thoughts, cant wait to go back and share few more doodies with jimbo in december
I realised my dream when I went there back in 2003....First thing I did when I got off the plane. I can see that they put a fence...thank god I could go sit right next to him snif snif. To me, he will always be the best poet/singer and the sexiest man who ever lived.
Great video. You're very lucky that you were able to make it to Paris and see his grave. I've been wanting to go and bring flowers to his grave for a long time maybe one day I'll get to Paris and see his grave and the rest of Pere-Lachaise which I know is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your journey, you really caught the atmosphere there. I just requested a video response, my trip to the same spot, this weekend, thanks again.
That was a beautiful video... I visited his grave a few months ago and it was so emotional... So many thoughts went through my head and all I could do was cry. A true legend.
what kind of low life would steal someones bust from their grave and graffiiti on surrounding graves. have some respect for the dead.
