@masterdelrap If it's 40 light years away, with light speed we'd get there in 40 years. Duh. Straight up FTL travel is showing itself to be impossible too, we'll have to learn how to break ourselves up and teleport ourselves further forward in space, so more of a warp than a jump, or we can learn how to open wormholes to where we want to go.

@masterdelrap I don't think anybody is suggesting we go to this place first. The closest solar system to ours is Alpha Centauri which is 4 light years away, traveling at the speed of light, it would still take 4 years to get there. It's impractical, like I said, we need to learn how to "warp" ourselves before considering intersteller travel.

We can't say what galaxy has more life than other galaxies because we haven't even found life elsewhere in our own galaxy yet. I think you need to realise how large a galaxy is, where we are right now technologically, and how we won't be able to travel between stars in search of life for some hundreds or even thousands of years.

zeta 2 reticulli is a binary star system and as such should not have any pre defined night areas as there is no darkness. Its about 37.9 light years away so video images are rulled out to put this down to cgi guys and girls
