Thanks for the video! But it gave me incurable cravings lol. Xiamen is my hometown and my love. I've been to this place before. There is also a famous noodle store in Zhong Shan Lu.
Yeah, it took me 2 years in the states to prepare for such a move to China. Then 3 years to get the job I have now. Nothing comes easy, does it? Read Ralf Potts' book "Vagabonding" to learn how to start planning a life of travel NOW! :)
hey Steven, I enjoyed this video in particular because it displays my favorite thing in life, food! the small shop is very plain looking but the food looks exquisite. i cant imagine how good these noodle dishes must be.

It was delicious. And I love Xiamen. Do your grandparents speak MinNan Hua?
sdweathers 2 years ago
Yes, they do speak Min Nan Hua, Hokkien dialect to be exact :)
My parents too. But me, not so much lol.

What does the sign say on the outside? I should know but I don't :) and I'm too lazy to draw the characters into nciku :)
I can see 小吃 "snack".. so I am assuming it is something along the lines of "Shrimp Noodles Snack Shop"?

That's right, the shop's full name is 槟榔虾面店 (betel nut shrimp noodle shop).

Hi Joe, thx for comments. Excellent local food (often the cheapest) is one of the best ways to experience a place's culture, isn't it?
