@BrainSlugz it depends on how many slots you have in your computer, usually you have 2, and both of them are filled maybe 2 gb x 2 sticks = 4 gb total, so if u want 8gb then get 4gb x 2 sticks, and replace them both.

@PisolMan no, RAM is just an extension to spread the infomation in the laptop whilst the power is on. making it faster etc. but when the power is off, even when you switch the laptop off when you arnt using it, any memory on the RAM leaves and goes back onto the laptop. imagine it like having a house and 20 people live there (i know lol) its kinda cramped, so people move about the house slow, but you add another part to the house to allow people to move easier...get it? lol soz if you dont.

@PisolMan I don't think so because RAM stands for "Random Access Memory" and it looses everything on it once you turn the computer off, The hard drvie is what saves all the data.

@murtileo that mainly depends, different motherboards can handle different amounts of RAM If most can handle between 1-4GB RAM, if u were to upgrade yours to a 2GB including labour it would probably cost around £20-£35. if you can inbox (PM) me further details I could probably assist you more.

Heloo i have a truble with my hp530, first my hard disc have a truble a buy new one, then my hp530 is overheating i have done a new paste and now it's cold, but i have now a new truble, some times computer working good sometimes it's die about 30s, computer die like no power intro them, no working and i need to reboot 20 times before working correctly a then about 10 minutes die again, so i dont now what it's a trouble ? @LepiiLukii Try to check is the cooling system is clean maybe clogged airflow, and if it still turns off try reinstalling the OS sometimes that would do the trick.....

Can both RAM modules be by different developers? By the way, if I have Kingmax 1GB DDR2-667 in this laptop at the bottom one and on the other laptop (acer aspire 5735Z) a samsung one (it doesn't say if its DDR2 or DDR3 or how much GB on it but I know it's 2GB cause I saw in the control panel in the system settings), can I put both of them in this one I'm using no matter which one goes up or down and what is their DDR type? reply if somebody knows. If it is a laptop you most likely have to remove the 512MB stick and install a 2GB one.

Thanks alot for your help. Just 1 small factor i don't understand. If i remove the old RAM chip (which contained 765 RAM) and replace it with a 1Gb RAM chip, do i keep the old RAM and get 1.765Gb's of RAM or do i only have 1Gb from the new chip?

If you take out the old 700 or so meg chip and put a 1 gig in instead of it, you will have 1 gig. If you put the 1 in another slot, you will have 1.7gig
