hmm,i watched all the videos and i can see more than a few used kinect and motion data's. thats alot of cheating , and makes it not fun to enter if people cheat..there needs to be a program that filters out videos that use motion data's and kinect

I don't think there -can- be a program to filter out Kinect motion data. I just don't see how it could ever work.

The judges may have noticed the Kinect, though. Kinect, from what I saw, did not make it into the Top 10, so at least cheating got them nowhere.

Not really. If you've seen the winning entries for past MMD cups , they do reuse stages, models (you really can't remake the VOCALOID originals), and music. Look up the MMD entry "Tengoku to Jigoku" and look at this 2nd MMD Cup winner: /watch?v=vsu8vdW6BLg

The originality mainly comes from fresh ideas and your own motion data. The MMD cup is primarily based on skill with the MMD program too, so yes it is heavily technical. Spinning "cool" camera angles requires little effort.

If someone were to have a better place than you because of the motion data, those people made theirs more unique than the others. It's how you USE the motion data that is given to you or that you actually made, the way you use effects, what models are used, the basic concept of the movie, the theme of it, how the movie is done, AND HOW MUCH EFFORT YOU PUT IN TO IT, and a LOT more.

I'm amazed that you actually care about the Kinect thing. Have you actually seen motion datas created with it? They're all shite. There some assumption that because you can directly control it, that they'll be good, but they really aren't. Kinect would not be an advantage, I do not see why it should not be aloud.

If someone made it with a pre-made Motion Data, it won't be nearly unfair, but maybe a deduction of points since you didn't create the motion data from scratch.There may be a reduction of your score, but know that this isn't only going to be judged by effort. Be aware that creativity and imagination take part in this cup, too. Editing Motion Data (Like Nostalgic Full Ver.) seems fine, since it has been in previous cups. Just make sure it has enough attraction than other MMD Videos it starred in.

I agree, Kinect would enable you to utilise the program to your fullest ability.

But not everyone has it. It would give an unfair advantage to those who do.

I'm sure Kinect would give you some sort of advantage over those who don't have it. (Smoother animation, I guess? *never used it*)

I like the idea of having a separate Kinect cup or subdivision in another cup. Then people can be judged fairly, because they're using the same programs.

But if it's something like using Sony Vegas or Windows Movie Maker, that wouldn't exactly be unfair since you can download Sony Vega's free trial and Movie Maker's download is free.

So really, if kinect was allowed in this cup, it would be a really unfair Motion Data advantage in my opinion. ^^

uhh that doesnt use the kinect--- the touching each other on the models and the zero spazzing and hand movement say it was either HIGHLY edited (might as well make it from scratch) or it isnt kinect

you can always EDIT the motion data recorded to fix things in it since hand movement isnt fluent yet in the programing.

they used kinect for something in that video.

we should be able to use kinect.

that way we can show off our skills in order to edit the motion data that was recorded.

im not trying to be rude, but kinect was "hacked" to be used in MMD for a reason.

and its a LOT of hard work to ACTUALLY dance well IRL

i make all my models and i make parts from scratch, so i know the effort that is put into making motion from scratch. i just like that kinect makes how the character stands so much more lifelike. i use it to make a pose, and work from there.
