  • Whatever people say .., new GTI is one of the best cars out there considering all the factors - power, usability, efficiency, fun.. etc..

  • @LeadHammer, you must be justifying your mk5 cause the mk6 aint much different. .....and the difference is better, sharper, cleaner. Dual exhaust is awesome and loiks symmetrically very clean too.

  • Great review!

  • I used to laugh at these cars untill I drove one. It had ur basic bolt-ons and a tune with 300 crank hp or something and I had such a blast driving it. I plan on buying one!

  • Love my 2011 GTI! What a great car!

  • Mazda3 went from handsome to ugly, while VW went from handsome to boring. All current VW look so boring that I cannot look at them. Previous Mk5 Golf with rounder headlights and taillights brought some joy to VW lagoon of boredom, but Mk6 took it away. Focus? Ugly and eclectic, no style. What is left? I wish GM brought current Opel Astra to the States, it looks fresher than the Golf and less cluttered than the Focus. Clean and modern. Could be a good fit for Saturn if Saturn were still around.

  • Props for commenting on the launch control with the DSG. It's the lowest cost car sold in the US with launch control.

  • this guy is an idiot

  • I want this car so bad

  • this gti comes with a difrent headlights , maybe because is not the sport pack

  • The golf GTi came out in 1976, not 1983.

  • I"ve driven both MS3 and GTI (2011) and I can honestly say, despite the power dif. its a no brainer. MS3 is the ugliest mazda to date! GTI looks like a mature kid. which best fits my personality, which is why my next car will be a GTI . Power is enough to romp most comp. at the track and autocross course. APR stg 2 beefs it up to 250 whp if I remember correctly. as well as 260 ft/lbs

  • grand tourer injection not grand tourismo international

  • Oh yeah, gotta love the Vurberry!!!

  • Oh yeah, gotta love the Vurberry!!!

  • Drove it. Pretty much agree with this review. Car is BALANCED with molten smooth power bands and shifting. Car is all about the front action (front wheel). If you want rear action forget it you might as well get a Mustang or BMW... and have fun with that in the Winter on ice thick roads (you won't). This GTI is a compact though and large sedan types will NOT like it. Oh and be prepared to religiously change the oil on the turbo. Car stock will beat a MS3 on the track (The Smoking Tire).

  • I WANT IT!!!

  • It's different, golf is less sporty.

  • is it true that the golf tdi has the same suspension as the gti?

  • this was one of the best reviews for the gti i've seen in a long time, very nice.

  • Nice review. Well done.

  • That's what I originally thought but the folks at VW corrected us at the press event. It's Gran Turismo International. I won a deck of VW playing cards for getting it right.

  • @DrivenCarReviews And yet, it is an injection engine.

What is a Gran Turismo Internazionale, anyway? Some sort of worker's soviet with high-performance five-seater?

I don't care what they call it in Wolfsburg. If anyone asks me what the I stands for, I tell them iniezione.

  • @ManFromSaturn besides, it drives too beautifully to have an English word in its name.

  • @DrivenCarReviews Are you stupid??? Its GRAND TURISMO INJECTION!! It was one of the first mass produced cars with fuel injection

  • @DrivenCarReviews Are you stupid??? Its GRAND TURISMO INJECTION!! It was one of the first mass produced cars with fuel injection!!! Trust americans to say something stupid like that

  • @dilawer321 I also thought it was Grand Turismo Injection but the folks at Volkswagen, yes, the people that would actually know this, say it stands for Grand Turismo International. A room full of automotive journalists that were there that will vouch for that. Whatever it means, it's a great car. TV

  • @DrivenCarReviews The golf gti was one of the first hatchbacks to have fuel injection, and it was only sold in germany so there was no need to call in "international", maybe vw of america thought that it ment that, but if you ask anyone who knows or even vw of germany themselves they will tel you that gti stood for grand touring injection (because it was fuel injected) Same as the ford escort xr3i and peugoet 205 gti and so on

  • @DrivenCarReviews Oh, and also, vw also made a golf GT in the mk1, and guess what, it wasnt fuel injected! Hmmmmm

  • It stands for "Grand Touring (Gran Turismo) Injection" not "Gran Turismo International"
