I'm not on the team, but I believe I read in the FAQ that they will not be updating to Source Engine.
This version of the engine looks good enough for this game. Plus if people really want to play this game, they can buy Half-Life for $10. Plus there are probably 100x more HL1 owners than HL2, since HL was on sale for $1 at one point.
yeah i checked the faq out, i used to have the original, (when pc games came in uge cardboard boxes) and i just lost the cd key, it is only like4 dollars now a days, worth it imo, id pay more for ESF alone.
Well to clear things up. I am an official dev team member and i can 100% answer your question.
As Espier said allready we will not be moving to the Source engine due to 2 reasons:
1.) All of us are used to the GoldSRC engine and relearning + remaking stuff for Source would be a pain.
2.) The Source engine may have the looks but its fairly limited compared to the GoldSRC. Valve put in so many limits that i doubt we could even get our new map system working in not to mention the other hacks.
WHEN DOES THIS COME OUT?

Holly shit this looks pretty amazing, I honestly did not think that the HL1 game engine could pull off such graphics like that.

YOu had to combine two of my favorite things, DBZ and SoR2!!
Damn yooooooouuuuuuu!
No but seriously, this mod is the most amazing thing I've seen from 2009 in the gaming world period.
I was looking for a donate button on the site and couldn't find one, I want to give give give to help out this game.

Actually it's not the Half-life 1 engine. It's a updated version of it i believe.

The base of this engine is GoldSrc, aka the Half-Life 1 engine. It's just a heavily modified version of it, just as most mods do.
EspierYoshikawa 2 years ago
Its still the HL1 engine. Its only as updated as Valve patched it. All the evvects and stuff are hacks into the engine rather than an engine update.
