I was like, "That lucky sod...."

  • @HarakMolova ROTFLOL :D

  • Katie certainly ran off as soon as she could lol

  • Is there a 6.00" (about) studio versione of this amazing song?

  • actually we are all cylons...

  • @RMajere yep we'rrre allll FRAK'n skinjobs

  • @evolve991 Not necessarily! Both humans and Cylons landed on this 'Earth'.

  • @MissRichie11 true but Hera was Mytochondrial Eve...the mother of our current race...over time all but the most isolated indigenous "Earthlings" would have been cross bred. Not to get TOO flaky but this could explain lots of genetic problems, why we use only a portion of our brains,etc....what happens if/when 'Hybrids' are born again and JUMP us to another plain altogether?

  • @evolve991 But when you get down to it we're not ALL skinjobs. Right? We're not PURE cylon.

  • @MissRichie11 true...got me there i guess....ok we're all skinjob/human hybrids.....it took both combined to last this long and for our populations to become as many as the colonies put together.....no i'm not saying i think it's real but then i do think our origins lie in the gray areas between science and religion.....

  • @Dragonfyre137 (cut to black - roll credits)

I just finished that episode and came running to watch this video. Win.

  • They really messed up cutting off Caprica....Demand it's return...

  • Guaranteed goosebumps every time i watch this.

  • 17 Cylons

  • 17 cavils saw this video and weren't happy

  • The original Occupy Wall Street.

  • I couldn't sit through a whole concert, couldn't bear constant goosebumps and shivers for 1-2 hours.

  • According to Ronald D Moore's audio commentary (Season 3, Episode 20), he merely liked the song, and was determined to work it into an episode (though it also made it into the series finale of Season 4, as well).

  • This bit of Battlestar Galactica gave me the shivers... It was so epic.

  • @bassdemon16 was just watching that episode and I felt the same. Epicness indeed.

  • @bassdemon16 the moment where everyones jaws dropped.

  • @bassdemon16 The season 3 revelation and cliffhanger ending (in Crossroads Part 2) with the introduction of this full version of the song WAS epic. A total "HOLY FRAK!" moment.

  • Anyone got a download link for this awesome concert? i remember that i once downloaded the whole records somewhere but i lost it and cant remember now...

  • I miss the flute like instruments, but otherwise, awesome performance!

  • pure awesomnes on so many levels!

  • This songs is so mystic and alluring ! It caries something dark and scary and has this cathartic emotion. It approaches slowly like a tidal wave that splashes over sores of endless human mind that can be an equal to endless cosmos and opportunities it offers .

The most amazing moment for me was the magical transcendence from the Tomb of Athene to the Planet Earth, were all the constellations were visible on skies.Very dramatic ,deeply intriguing! Exalting atmoshpere

  • I believe this song is a tribute to the Galactica's upper watchtower where Captain Apollo narrowly misses receiving Apollo-11 moon-landing transmissions from Earth. Of course I'm talking about the last episode in the BSG 70's TOS: "The Hand of God" ;)

  • @MrCroky123 close, but nope ;) this song is a very very old Bob Dylan song, from the 60's iirc covered and made much better by Jimi Hendrixx.

it's inclusing in BSG may be a nod to the original series though, and that would be awesome.

  • I played it along with them on my finger Piano App i got high!

  • there's too much confusion

  • That song is so hypnotic... There must be some way out of here!

  • Did you see Bear McCreary's cameo? It was before the episode when Kara remembers!

  • Find the hand that lies in the shadow of the light. In the eye of the husband of the eye of the cow. End of Line

  • Bear Who? :D

  • @cmsahe

I laughed my ass off when I saw that on the Special Features.

  • She remembered.

    112365365321

  • As if this song could not get any more awesome. I wish I could find a recording of this.

  • Katee is so cute fumbling the notes.

  • It's in the frakking ship!

  • The 14 dislikes are the 13 Cylon models and Zoe Graystone.

  • @MsDuppie Plus Gaius Baltar

  • the piano bit is the best where can i find?

  • @Evan7893 it's the track 'Kara Remembers' you can find it on youtube :P or on the Official OST for BSG season 4, which tbh I recommend buying as I have all 4 and they all ROCK hard :D Bear McCreary is a god.

  • See I like the TV version more then the studio one which they play after. But that one is not on the soundtrack.

  • @Kilroy020 which version are u talkin about? the version at the end of the final episode?

  • his brother is bad. cant stand the solos

  • I SO want to be there! Bear McCreary = genius!

  • They're all frackin' Cylons!!!!!

  • Really doesn't get better than this... Besides being there live of course.

  • I love the enthousiasm of the violinists :D

  • pure awesomeness ...I don't think a better soundtrack could ever be composed.Battlestar Galactica was/is the greatest form of entertainment ever conceived.

  • @kuifg777 Toaster-lover.

  • I really wish this world was real, this song makes me cry...I loved this episode...and the ones that followed. Battlestar Galactica was amazing, start to finish...

  • @Kaya0Anna There's no way to prove it didn't...

  • The world needs more BSG concerts.

  • @UndyingHunter1 this world needs more BSG full stop :p

  • @UndyingHunter1 The world needs more BSG

  • We're all Cylons now.

  • It's too bad the audio is bad... I want HD audio.

  • the guy to t he left goes mad at the begining

  • I see a drumstick flying @5:17

  • awesome!!!

    so say we all!!!

  • alright who did it?

which fool put up a 13th dislike :( ya ruined it :(

  • @tehoken No, they didn't actually because there were actually 13 cylon models, only Cavil removed one by poisoning the embryonic fluid.

So there WERE 13 cylon models (Well many more if one counts Earth, either Earth because original Earth was all Cylon and on our Earth "Humans" are both Cylon and Human.

Not to mention the non human cylon models, but I can't be bothered to go into all that.

  • @InfoPunkie yeah that is true, there was Daniel, but still, for the lions share of the series there was 12.

not to mention the top rated comment with 177 likes is now obsolete :P

  • The 13 cylon models don't like this.

  • First I became addicted to Battlestar Gallactica, then I became a fan of their version of All Along the Watchtower and now I am fascinated by Bear McCreary. Awesome!!!

  • if you watch the musicians while they play this, you get to see what musical ecstasy is...

  • Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan would be proud!

  • There must be some kind of way out of here, said the Colonel to the Chief. There's music IN THE FRAKING SHIP, and I can't get no relief.

  • @babyBELUGAr

My wife drank all the wine and we cant find Earth

  • ITS IN THE FRACKIN WALLS!!!!!!

  • Everytime I hear this song, I can't help but picture myself flying a Viper through an orange nebula, fighting the Cylons.

  • This is most epic.

  • At 2:07 I think the fiddler jizzed

  • can you Imagen playing this on Rockband 2 all on Expert? (Even the Vocal) xD

  • when I heard this during the show I thought the Cylons were going to attack

  • Maybe it didn't get any emmys because instead of a conclusion RDM tried to fob his audience off with hammy symbolism and vague pseudoreligious gumpf.

  • @barukkhazaddum Or he purposely left it open to our interpretation and you should just bask in it's glory

  • filmsinfocus my msn in profile! Battlestar Galactica Bear McCreary plays with Katee Sackhoff "All Along The Watchtower" Live

  • @BrEnNo1023 - I'm pretty sure that Bear's brother did the vocals for the OST one as well.

  • Oh I can't believe I missed the tour at canaria !! > (

  • Is that Bear's brother singing?

If so, he sounds very similar to how he sang the OST track.

    Perhaps better me thinks 0.0

Gods damn I wish i was that drummer at 4:40 onwards :D This entire performance must've been amazing to sit and observe.

  • I miss this show... 8(

  • I can't watch this video enough. It gives me LIFE.

  • Spins and turns, angles and curves, the shape of dreams half remembered. Slip the surly bonds of Earth and touch the face of perfection, a perfect face, a perfect lace, find the perfect world for the end of Kara Thrace. End of Line

  • @matrix0071 There's a hole in the bucket , Jane, Jane, there is a hole in the bucket. ///Handshake met///

  • @matrix0071 Well put. Beautifully put.

  • they have mad a prequal to it called caprica

  • I heard they are making a new BSG movie concerning William Odama's military service during the first cylon war.

  • @JustSum13lse parts of that are on xbox live

  • The 12 cylon models don't like it.

  • @Delete1723 haha recon someone put 12 dislikes on purpose for that :P as that's the ONLY way I can see anyone not liking this video.

  • But wouldn't five of them like it?

  • @Delete1723 Nobody can EVER dislike this now LMAO

  • @Delete1723 Anders would, though. Well, except for the part where she kisses Bear.

  • @Delete1723 Brilliant!

  • @Delete1723 Dammit... Looks like a centurion joined to the group lol

  • @Delete1723 i guess the 13th model put his input in....ya know, the one that brother cabell corrupted, the one they never showed, the daniel.

  • At least BSG got the fandom it deserves. A once great idea rolled out in a plot I never would have believed someone could bring and for the music? Just <3

  • I love this TV series!

  • Loved BSG one of the best series ever Sci-fi or not and I don't consider myself a Sci-fi guy. Katie Sackhoff was one of the best of the excellent actors in the series. Love this rendition of Dylan's song and I'm a huge, huge Dylan fan, great stuff!!!!

  • This has officially replaced Requiem for a Tower as the Most Epic Song Ever.

  • So awesome. So fraking awesome.

  • Uh kinky because that would make Bear McCreary Katee's father right? :D

  • Seems that each and every one of the Twelve Colonies had a bad reception during this broadcast :D

  • That song gave me wood

  • is that me or is that Alessandro Juliani singin?

    great song

  • @MrNero102 No, it's Bear McCreary's brother Brendan McCreary singing (same guy that sings it on the soundtrack).

  • might be a bit of "doh" moment but isn't that starbuck?

  • @NappyFanBoy yeah, Katee Sackhoff is the actress that plays Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace, and she joins Bear McCreary on stage to play 'Kara Remembers' which is the piano intro on this track, then when the other instruments kick in the song changes to Heeding the call, and finally the song speeds up and the lyrics kick in for All Along the Watchtower. truely a Magnum Opus, Bear McCreary should be proud, he has created something truely Epic with this version of a longstanding clasic.

    So Say We All!

  • @tehoken So Say We All!

  • Honestly I wonder what Jimi Hendrix would think of this (may he rest in peace) but my opinion this guy did a good job!!!

  • @canadian0161 Hendrix didn't write the song so... I don't think we need to ask him what he thinks of a rendition of a song he did a rendition of. ;)

  • @Razorback613 well your right Jimi Hendrix didnt write the song it was Bob Dylan but Jimi re-recorded it a few years after it was made and Bob Dylan himself said that he likes Jimi's version more then his own actually heres a quote from Dyaln "I liked Jimi Hendrix's record of this and ever since he died I've been doing it that way... Strange how when I sing it, I always feel it's a tribute to him in some kind of way."

Im just getting my 2cents in not trying to be a dick.

  • THIS FUCKIN ROCKS!!!!

i gotta admit they way it starts off it reaches right into the soul and pulls you right in there. Seeing Katie in there rocked as well since its practically the Starbuck destiny.

Anyways ive shared this with like everyone i know. Cant get any better than that!

  • 12 people have mistakenly clicked the "Dislike" button.

    For shame.

  • @Hikozilla they're cylons lolol

  • Anyone else have problems with this loading slow as hell? I go to another youtube vid and it loads way faster, but certain youtube vids just load slow as hell, and this is one of them, which royally pisses me off cause this is the best version of the BSG All Along the Watchtower.

  • How awesome

  • This is one of those shows that ended before its time - would have been really cool to have another season or two of BSG. Of course, a couple of seasons of Firefly would have been nice as well. A little less Gossip Girl, a little less Dancing With the Stars, a little less of those crap shows and more of some quality entertainment would be incredible.

  • @FaustianDreams I don't know dude, I really loved this show, but I always prefer a show to go out at the peak, instead of going on one/two seasons longer than it should have. I'd rather have 4 brilliant seasons and an end that 4 brilliant seasons, 1 alright one and one terrible one.

Now Firefly..... THAT show should have got another series, shit they should have let them finish the first one......

  • This is how the song was introduced on the show. Flashbacks of her trying to learn the song as a child and then when she was an adult. Incorporating that into a concert is awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • @DavidWCourtney well considering she doesnt play the paino full time, and only knows those notes for a single episode..which was done months before this...id imagine it would take a bit of time to remember it

  • I wish I could get this live version, it really kicks!!

  • The Wire got no Emmys, BSG got no emmys at the same time.

Love 24, but the show wasn't a patch on BSG.

  • I LOVE this music. I think it's better on CD as they can't seem to replicate it quite the same way live, however it is still excellent!

  • So my interpretation of this is that all that happened in Battlestar Galactica was to explain how Bob Dylan was able to write the incredible lyrics of All Along the Watchtower. Brilliance.

  • @larsreal9 My interpretation has been that BSG gives us a perspective that life is repeating rhythm, and that with each passing iteration it is slightly different bringing with it a unique twist on something old and familiar. You can chose to take comfort in the traditions that are passed on, or leap into the unknown and hope that eventually the pattern will evolve so much as to break the cycle and start something... revolutionary.. and then it starts all over...

  • @DEFkon001 I was just kidding of course but cool interpretation on your part. Hey, I haven't finished the series, I'm on season 4, I've heard that season 4's finale wraps things up good enough for it to have been the series finale and that season 5 is a let down so is going on to season 5 worth it in your opinion or should I skip it?

  • @larsreal9 there is no season 5....season 4 was split into 2 parts

all there is now is the caprica season ( a spin off prequesl to bsg) which so far...is like sgu...big hype and big let down

  • @darthkarr Agreed, I saw Caprica SGU and agree for the most part except that the last two episodes of SGU were pretty good, especially the second to last one other than that, yeah it's a let down.

  • @larsreal9 the idea of the shows and settings are brilliant, but the characters and the storylines suck..in sgu the storyline makes no sense with each new episode...its like..they dont know what their doing...or trying to make a lost copy

and caprica introduces themes we aleready know werent around during that time..like monotheieism...which according to bsg wasnt introduced until after the war

  • @darthkarr Oh I agree I'm just saying the last two episodes were fun. It does seem like SGU is trying yo be too many shows at once, BSG/Lost/ST Voyager/SG1 and SGA, They're pulling from so many different shows they don't really know what to do. It seems while trying to be all these shows they missed out on what made them cool, they were their own unique things, except for Voyager and SGA at is. SCU for the most part is a muddled pastiche. Caprica feels like Bold & the Beautiful: 2099 AD

  • @larsreal9 as someone said above there is no season 5, but the end of the double season 4 was AWESOME, what they may have been refering to as a letdown was either The Plan, a BSG movie or Caprica, both are which where a bit of a letdown after the main series tied everything up so nicely.

  • @tehoken I've actually watched the finale now and I for one loved it. I thought it ended perfectly for what the show started out as. Some people I've found out were pissed about the spiritual or religious elements of the finale but those were overt apects of the show since the first season.

  • @larsreal9 aye if you don't like the reglious tones, then you're watching the wrong frakkin show :P personally I thought the finale was outstanding, one of the best final eps of any series ( I think Code Geass still just pips it to the best ever by a tiny margin though) but I guess you can't tell peope what to think..... yet ;)

  • @DEFkon001 thats actualyl how the ancient greeks viewed the world...thjey believed that is was a constant repetition, that all that had was before will happen again

  • @darthkarr well, maybe they were onto something. wars, exploitation, politics, love, hate it's all still rolling along just fine. Hell I think I remember an ancient greek saying "The best things in life are good food & drink spent around good company"

So far as Irishman, and a Buddhist I can't argue.

  • Whoever you are that gave this vid a thumbs down...FRAK YOU.

  • Its a brilliant re-imagination of the Hendrix classic

  • @DarthIre hate to be a dick, well no I don't, but hey ;) but Hendrix is actually a cover as well :P the origional is done by Bob Dylan, but it sucks so no one remembers it. Most people think the Hendrix version is the original because it's the most famous, like people think Whitney Houston first sang 'I Will Always Love You'

  • @tehoken - Its all good homey. Actually I knew Dylan did the original but like you said, that version sucked ass, no one care to remember that. Which is why I accredited Hendrix and not Dylan. Its like the old Irish song "Whiskey in the Jar', how many lame attempts were made to redo that song? Then along come Metallica and they friggin' pwn the song and make it a hit, like Hendrix and 'Watchtower'

  • WRONG.

Some little rock band known as Thin Lizzy covered "Whiskey In The Jar" long before Metal-lica was a twinkle in Lars Ulrich only testicle and made it a hit in the 70's and those sell outs just jumped on the band wagon success of Lizzy's cover for thier owen benefit.

And guess what, Lizzy's version is still the best "Rock" cover to date, Metal-licas utterly ruined that song, with too heavy sounding guitars & bollocks country/western sounding vocals from that alcoholic moron Hetfield.

  • all emmy cares about is some stupid frakking reality and hospital shows........frak them.....but what BSG have is the loyal love of its fans...........that tops any emmies......SO SAY WE ALL

  • I LOVE this!!!! Another to add to my "Favorites" list!!! <3

  • To the 9 people who gave this a thumbs down FRAK YOU TOO!!!

  • bears work in season 3 and 4 is the best tv music of all time, the way it intergrates with the show and characters was genius and the man deserves far more recognition, he is brilliant. cant believe he didnt win more rewards.

  • bears work in season 3 and 4 is the best tv music of all time, the way it intergrates with the show and characters was genius and the man deserves far more recognition, he is brilliant. cant believe he didnt win more rewards.

  • I actually posted this on another BSG page but anyway:

Many of the moments of revelation on BSG were absolutely riveting and haunting television and I think a lot of that is due to Bear McCreary's score. I think it's a great testament to the artist that the writers had his music become so intwined with the actual series that it became an actual plot-point, it made it all the more powerful when scenes like "Kara Remembers" played themselves out.

  • I kept hearing this song in my head all day. Then I began to humming it everywhere I walked. Best day at work ever!

  • AMAZING. Props to Katee for appearing!

  • so damn epic!

  • Violin player is on steroids. Amazing.

  • the white shirt one, on the left? Indeed.

  • @rizer80 Yeah.. incredible. Reminds me of Leahy. Their violinist also dances and stuff... crazy crazy crazy.

  • i didnt know why katee kissed mccreary are they like in some sort of relationship if so that would explain alot to me cause i was confussed at first i was like WHAAAT did i miss somthing reply if you have a answer

  • @MrDarkkak It was a friendly kiss, she was excited I guess

  • @MrDarkkak to my aknowledge Bear is married to Raya Yarbough, the one that sings in lords of kobol, and the intro

  • Totally awesome! Props also to the violinist, he actually made violin cool for 6 minutes and 11 seconds :)

  • the best song from one of the greatest TV shows ever made.

Bear Mc Creary is a LEGEND end of, awards come and go but people WILL be listening to his outstanding music for years to come, mainly because when I meet anyone who HASN'T heard at least this track, I tie them to a chair and make them listen to it. as of yet I've not had a single person I've played this too fail to acknowledge that this is a fantastic version of the song, and Bear McCreary is a musical genius.

  • I wonder how many people were there but didnt see or know it was Katee playing on stage until they got home and saw it on youetube...

  • Best Soundtrack in the world. Bear McCreary is nothing but talent, you should follow all the soundtracks he does.
